Aragorn is the son of Arathorn and the heir of Isildur and Elendil.

After the early death of his father Arathorn, his mother Gilraen moved with him to Rivendell were Aragorn was educated by Elrond. When he was twenty years old, Elrond told Aragorn that he comes from a royal family. Some years later, Aragorn fell in love with Elrond's daughter Arwen. Elrond promised Aragorn that he could marry his daughter as soon as he would be King of Arnor and Gondor.

Aragorn did not use to speak fact that he was a king, most of the people just knew him as 'Strider' . He is the leader of the Dúnedain (since the year 2933 of the Third Age) and most of the time he travelled alone through Middle Earth. Many people distrusted him because a ranger could be everything, a vagabond or a mugger. He went on war with the folks of Gondor and Rohan.

When Gandalf told him that the One Ring had been found, Aragorn started to seatch for Golum and finally he joined the Fellowship Of The Ring. After Gandalf fell in the shadow in Moria, Aragorn led on the Fellowship. He was not able to prevent the Fellowship of the Ring from being seperated at Path galen, but he went on searching for Merry and Pippin who had been kidnapped in the battle with the Uruk-Hai.

Finally, he was able to raise a huge army and defeated the armies of Sauron, the Dark Lord. After that Aragorn was crowned to be King of Gondor and Arnor (in the year 3019 of the Third Age). He married Arwen and founded his own house, which he called Telcontar (the quenya-word for Strider).

Aragorn's horse is called Brego.

Aragorn is performed by Viggo Mortensen in Peter Jackson's Lord Of The Rings.

"I'm Celtic and Scandinavian, so I was raised on the myths that inspired Tolkien. It's part of my heritage." [...] "He can survive in nature, live from it, read its signs and live happily, not needing anyone, not relying on anything but his own knowledge and discoveries. But now he has to take on more responsibility, and it's not clear where it will lead him."

"He's just happy to be anonymous. He has a lot of self-doubt and secrets."

Viggo Mortensen

"All that is gold does not glitter
Not all those who wonder are lost
The old that is strong does not wither
Deep roots are not reached by the frost
From the ashes a fire should be woken
A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be blade that was broken
The crownless again shall be king
"

This poem was written by Bilbo after he met Aragorn for the first time.
