:: Boromir ::

Name : Boromir

Date of birth : In the year 2978 of the Third Age
Date of death : 26 February, Year 3019 of the Third Age
Race : Men
Boromir was the oldest son of Denethor II, who was the stuart of Gondor and Finduilas. He had one brother called Faramir.

Boromir was a good fighter. He was noble and brave but as a human he had one weakness : He could be affected by the power of the Ring and he had to fight against this power all the time. He couldn't understand why the Ring should be destroyed. At Imladris he joined the Fellowship of the Ring. He wanted to bring the One Ring to Minas Tirith to save his people who were strailed by Sauron's Orcs. This lead him into a conflict : On the one hand he wanted to protect Frodo, the Ringbearer, but on the other hand he wanted to help his people.

At Amon Hen he tried to steal the Ring from Frodo and failed. When the Fellowship was attacked by Orcs he fought to defend the hobbits and he killed many Orcs, but finally he was slain by an Uruk-Hai. In the moment of his death he realized that he couldn't weal the Ring. Before he died, he also accepted Aragorn as the King of Gondor. Before that, he never accepted him, he believed that Gondor had no king and needed no king.

Boromir is perfomed by Sean Bean in Peter Jackson's Lord Of The Rings.

"Boromir brings the human element into the Fellowship. Boromir has the human qualities of being honorable and brave but also having a very clear opinion about everything." "In the beginning, he sees the Ring simply as a solution to the problems of his people. But he finds out that it isn't quite so clear-cut, especially as he becomes susceptible to its powers."
