Elrond was the Lord of Rivendell. Elrond was the Lord of Rivendell. He was a half-elven, his father was Earendil and his mother was Elwing. After the War of Wrath he had to decide wheter he wanted to live with the Men or the Elves. He decided to live with the Elves and married Celebrķan, daughter of Galadriel. They had three children. One daughter, Arwen, and two sons, Elladan and Elrohir. When Sauron attacked Middle Earth in the middle of the Second Age, Elrond founded Rivendell as a place of shelter. Vilya, one of the Great Rings, helped him to protect Rivendell against Sauron. Elrond also took part in the terrible battle (War of the Last Alliance) in which Isildur cut the Ring off Sauron' s hand. It was he who asked Isildur to throw the Ring into the Cracks of Mount Doom and to destroy it. But Isiludur failed and kept the Ring for himself. In the Third Age, the Fellowship of the Ring was formed in Rivendell. When he found out that his daughter Arwen wanted to marry Aragorn, a mortal man, he didn't allow her to do so, at least not until Aragorn would be King of Gondor and Arnor. Elrond knew that the power of the Elven Rings would vanish as soon as the One Ring would be destroyed, and that the time of the Elves would be over then. After the War of the Ring he left Middle-Earth together with the other Ring-bearers, while his sons remained in Imladris and his daughter married Aragorn. Elrond is performed by Hugo Weaving in Peter Jackson's Lord Of The Rings. |

"Elrond is so wise, so good, so noble and yet he also has, for a lack of a better word, a real humanity to him. There is a side of him that has been made desperate by the perpetual state of war. He has a real sense of how hard it is for people to get out from under evil." |
