:: Eowyn ::

Name : Eowyn

Other names and titles : Dernhelm, Lady of Rohan, Lady of the Shield-arm, White Lady of Rohan
Date of birth : In the year 2995 of the Third Age
Date of death : Not known
Race : Men

She was the granddaughter of King Thengel of Rohan and the niece of King Théoden. She and her brother Éomer grew up in the house of Théoden. Although Éowyn had been the nurse of King Théoden, who had become ill and weak under the influence of Gríma, she was also a good fighter and rider. When she met Aragorn she fell in love with him, but Aragorn only thought of Arwen.

Dressed as a man and under the name Dernhelm, Éowyn rode with Théoden and his army to the Battle of the Pelennor. There she slew the Lord of the Nazgûl and was wounded badly. But Aragorn's healing hand were able to bring her back into live. In Minas Tirith she met Faramir, brother of Boromir and son of Denethor, and married him because he accepted that she never wanted to live the life of a "normal" woman and because she realized that she would never win Aragorn's love.

Eowyn is performed by Miranda Otto in Peter Jackson's Lord Of The Rings.
