Faramir was the younger son of Denethor II and the brother of Boromir.

During the War of the Ring, Faramir met Sam and Frodo in Ithilien and spent one night with them in Henneth Annûn. Though he knew about the power of the Ring, he never tried to get it from Frodo and let Frodo and Sam go on their way to Mordor.

Some days later, he was badly injured and Denethor, who thought that Faramir would die as well, tried to burn Faramir together with himself to death. But Faramir was saved and only his father died. After the Battle at the Pelennor Fields Faramir was healed by Aragorn's healing hands. He married Éowyn and became the Prince of Ithilien.

Faramir is performed by David Wenham in Peter Jackson's Lord Of The Rings.
