Galadriel was born in Valinor during the years of the Trees. Her father was Finarfin, a Noldo, her grandmother was Indis, a Vanya, and her mother was Earwen, the daughter of the Lord of the Teleri, Olwe. She was the only daughter, of her brothers she liked Finrod the most. She left Valinor after the Darkening of Valinor, although she didn't share Feanors opinion. But she wanted to see more of the world than only Valinor, too. For a long time she lived in Menegroth where she married Celeborn. In the Second Age, when Sauron's influence had grown, she went through the Mines of Moria to Lórien. There she convinced the scattered Wood-Elves to come to Lórien and protecting the land against Sauron. At that time Celebrimbor gave her Nenya, the White Ring of Power. In the Third Age the Fellowship of the Ring came to Lórien and Frodo offered her the One Ring. But Galadriel knew that the One Ring would get too much power through her and that she wouldn't be able to weal this power. She passed the test and didn't take the Ring from Frodo. At the end of the War of the Ring she visited the marriage of Aragorn and her granddaughter Arwen. Two years later, she left Middle-Earth together with the other Ring-bearers. Galadriel is performed by Cate Blanchett in Peter Jackson's Lord Of The Rings. |

"I loved playing Galadriel because she is so iconic. She is the one in The Fellowship of the Ring who truly tests Frodo. I also think she has a profound message to give about taking responsibility for ourselves and our actions. And, yes, I have to admit I have always wanted to have pointy ears !" |
