The
story of the Nazgūl : Once
they were the nine Kings of Men, who got the Rings of Power from Sauron.
But the Rings of Power made them weak and they fell into the shadow.
From this time on they were bound to Sauron's will. At every time they
felt the presence of the Ring, they were hunting it and the one who
beared it all the time.
The Nine lived in
Minas Morgul and could only be killed by fire, water or magic swords.
But without Sauron also the Nazgūl were not able to exist. When
Sauron had been defeated in the War of the last Alliance also the
Nazgūl disappeared for a long time, and they were finally destroyed
when the One Ring and Sauron were destroyed at the End of the War of
the Ring.
