Saruman the White, originally he was the Maia Curumno and served Aulë, was the first wizard who arrived in Middle-Earth in the year 1000 of the Third Age. He was the leader of the Istari and the eldest of all the wizards. During the first thousand years of his life in Middle-Earth, he stayed in the east of the country, but in the year 2463 of the Third Age he returned to the west of Middle-Earth and there became the leader of the Council of the Wise (Also Galadriel, Elrond and Gandalf became members of this Council, at that time Galadriel and Elrond wanted Gandalf to become the leader). At that time, Saruman also began to study the Rings of Power and he gathered to biggest knowledge about them. In the year 2759 of the Third Age, he got the keys of Orthanc from Beren of Minas Tirith and settled down there. All the years long, Saruman went on studying the Rings of Power. In 2851 of the Third Age, the Council of the Wise discovered that Sauron returned. They fought against him and managed to drive him back into Mordor. From now on the Cousil often discussed about the Rings of Power. Saruman always insisted on the fact that the One Ring was left forever, but secretly he didn't believe that and searched for the Ring to keep it for himself. He started to built an army of Orcs and he controlled Rohan trough his spy Gríma. By using a Palantír he felt under the influence of Sauron. In July 3018 of the Third Age, he confessed to Gandalf that he wanted the Ring for himself, and when Gandalf refused to join him, Saruman imprisoned him in Orthanc. Later, Isengard was destroyed by the Ents, and Saruman himself was imprisoned there. Later, he was killed by his spy Gríma. Although he could not been killed that he way, he lost at least his body and his spirit wasn't welcome anymore in Valinor. saruman is performed by Christopher Lee in Peter Jackson's Lord Of The Rings. |

"People will always crave power and Saruman wants Sauron's power. To me, he is not just the physical force of evil personified, he is also very real." |
