Gute Manieren
Klein. Oder so was Ähnliches.
Orlando Bloom
vollkommen offensichtlich, was Peter Jackson 1999 dazu bewog,
den unbekannten Briten frisch von der Londoner "Guildhall
School of Music and Drama" wegals überirdischen Elben
Dabei hatte Megaproduzent
Jerry Bruckheimer seinem Zögling aus "Black Hawk
Down" das Drehbuch als Erstem geschickt. "Ich hab's
nicht..." to be continued on scan

Good manners
and the heart of a daredevil. We let ourselves be swept away
anytime by a pirate like Orlando Bloom.
There is a
heavy perfume in the garden of the bungalow in Chateau Marmont.
Maybe somebody lit a scented-candle to the memory of John
Belushi, who killed himself here years ago. Then, the gate opens
and a heavily adorned young man holds out his hand in greeting.
"Hello" he says, "I am Orlando Bloom" and he
floats away to a wicker seating set. Ah yes, Obsession by Calvin
Klein or something like that.
Orlando Bloom
smells like his name, and looks like it too. Orlando, named by
his educated parents after the character in a Virginia Woolf –
Novel, is an androgynous beauty in full bloom. His face is like
carved, with absurd cheekbones and soulful eyes, a couple of
fringes on his chin, the failed attempt to humanize perfection.
He is perfect, which obviously led Peter Jackson to cast in 1999
the unknown Brit, fresh out of the London "Guildhall School
of Music and Drama", for the part of the otherworldly Elf
Legolas for “Lord of the Rings”. And somehow it can be no
coincidence that this Beau is always cast together with some of
the most beautiful colleagues in his guild. Orlando didn't pale
next to "Rings" - star Viggo Mortensen, and in "The
Curse of the Black Pearl" (hits theaters 4.09.), even a
charming Johnny Depp with Dreadlocks can not outshine him.
Is it the
cheekbones or the out-of-this-world-flair, which makes the
American press talk about a worthy successor of the rebellious
family man (referring to J. Depp) ? "I didn't want to make
the movie at first" confesses Orlando, framed by impressive
hair. Nevertheless, mega-producer Jerry Bruckheimer sent the
script to his "protegé" of Black Hawk Down in the
first place.
"I didn't
read it because I thought, what should I do in an American
blockbuster ? Besides I was making and independent comedy and
had no time for it.” But then Bruckheimer let him know that
Johnny Depp had already signed for the Black Pearl. "And
then I knew it would be something special. Johnny had always
been some kind of a role model for me. Someone who is destined
by his looks to play always the "leading man" and has
still managed to stay true to himself. And yes, sometime in the
future the 26-year old wishes to participate in a "David-Lynch-kind"
of movie. But until the world can see beyond the shell, he
considers the flattering characters he plays as rites of passage
to being a character-actor.
Of course a
style-assured Brit does inspire the usual suspicions in
Hollywood. But instead of confirming his paparazzi-documented
relationship with surfer girl Kate Bosworth, he tells us about
how his two-year older sister Samantha influenced his exquisite
sense of style. "She used me as I was younger as her
dress-up doll and played with me." The alarm level goes up
to pink if one considers that, due to the untimely departure of
his father, fell into the artistic education of his mother at
home.
You could also
hold amusing discussions with him about music or poetry. But
there is another soul in the chest of this poetry-made-to-man,
or he wouldn't be saying “f***”. "F***" it was
tough when he fell from a three-store- high balcony five years
ago and broke his back. "F***", for two weeks the
doctors didn’t know if he would ever walk again, but,
"f***", he is an adrenaline-junkie. Ever since he got
a scar on his upper lip being a toddler, he broke more bones
than the "Klitschko-Brothers" altogether. Legs, wrist,
ribs, nose, "f***". "I have become a bit more
level headed," he says. "Yesterday I almost bought a
motorcycle, but I didn’t do it, because I know I can get quite
dangerous to myself."
To himself ?
Women know : the biography of a poet and the heart of a
daredevil. That is the most dangerous combination possible.

Orlando
Bloom
Upbringing : He
grew up in a very British way in Canterbury. Went from the
London "Guildhall School of Music and Drama" to New
Zealand to film "Lord of the Rings". He just bought a
house in L.A. His home is his castle.
Personal care :
Lots of Obsession by Calvin Klein. He loves to show his
remarkable hairless chest (waxed ?) in up-to the-navel open
hippie shirts. Geeky leather sandals leave a suspicion of
pedicure.
Design :
Cheekbones under which a storm could hide.
Tattoos : two.
A sun under his navel and an elvish nine in his right upper arm.
He wears more jewelry than Ivana Trump. Three golden rings, nine
necklaces with memorabilia-pendants, an wristband and a
Prada-wristwatch .
Sex : He
encounters the usual prejudices against beautiful boys with
amused silence. If you take into consideration his dates with
Surfer Girl Kate Bosworth as foreplay, we are not dealing with a
stud here.
Drugs : He
deals only with suppliers of the Santa Monica Farmers Market and
knows more varieties of Green Tea as Johnny Cabernets. In drug
– accostumed Hollywood Hotel Chateau Marmont he overwhelmed
the Roomservice with orders for Decaf-Soy-Lattes.
Rock'n Roll :
He never played in a band, but he rebelled against the
boundaries of his own body by indulging into bungee-jumping,
mountain biking, surfing, snowboarding … mainly: adrenalin.
Reward : two broken legs, a broken wrist, a broken finger, a
couple of broken ribs …
Johnny Depp
Upbringing :
Betty Sue Depp moved and changed her son’s school about 30
times. That’s the way to breed a rebel. “My Villa in France
is my first home.” He still doesn’t speak French.
Personal care :
He smells of cigarettes and long nights in unventilated pubs. He
was never seen at an interview without a headdress (knitted
beanie for days with heat under 30 and fedora for the other
days).
Design :
Cheekbones that could be used as letter-openers. Eight tattoos
in sailors' manner: amateurish but sentimental. Jewelry : two
skull-rings, a leather necklace, no watch. Instead a pair of
shell-rimmed glasses. He wears the kind of stuff you'd find in
an old trunk in the attic.
Sex : He
prefers brunette orphan-styled girls like Wynona Ryder and Kate
Moss. Vanessa Paradis fits nicely into the loot-pattern.
Noteworthy : The mother of his two children is still waiting for
a proposal.
Drugs : Renown
user of stimulants. After years of hallucigenous experiments
over absinth he developed to legal conosseur of drugs.
Cigarettes for breakfast, red wine for lunch and Pastis for
apperitiv are in LA already an offense against the
narcotics-law.
Rock'n Roll :
He played with 15 in the band "The Kids", demolishing
Hotel-rooms, beating into paparazzi and making now and then
appearances as guest-musician with Oasis. His "Viper Room"
is still one of the best clubs in LA and he prefers to pay fines
rather than forbidding his customers to smoke.
Good manners
and the heart of a daredevil. We let ourselves be swept away
anytime by a pirate like Orlando Bloom.
