+ Falas: The name of the western coast of Beleriand between Nevrast and Arvernien. The region was ruled by Círdan the Shipwright and famous for it's two big havens Eglarest and Birthombar. The people of the Falas were called Falathrim (see below). After the Nirnaeth Arnoediad Morgoth's armies destroyed the land and Círdan and his people fled to the Isle of Balar. |

+ Falathrim: The name of the people of the Falas (see above). Círdan the Shipwright was their lord. The Falathrim were originally Teleri, but they remained in Beleriand when the rest of their people travelled to Valinor on Ulmo's isle. |

+ Farmer Maggot : A Hobbit who lived in the Eastfarthing of the Shire. The Hobbits stayed over night on his farm on their way to Bree. Tom Bombadil was a good friend of Framer Maggot, and it was him who told Maggot many of the things that happened outside the Shire. |

+ Father of the Dwarves : The first Dwarves who ever lived. They were made by Aulë even before the Elves lived in Middle-Earth because he didn't want to wait until the awakening of the Children of Ilúvatar. When Ilúvatar found out that Aulë had made the Dwarves, he allowed him to keep them but he also told him that the Dwarves must sleep until the Elves would dwelt on earth. Durin the Deathless was the eldest of the Seven Fathers, he awoke at Mount Gundabad, in the northern Misty Mountains. The other awake in pairs in different locations and there founded the big cities of the Dwarves. |

+ Fëanor : He was the eldest son of Finwë (see below) and he was the greatest of the Noldor. He made the Silmarils and when Melkor stole these jewels, Fëanor led the Noldor into Middle-Earth to fight against Melkor. Fëanor was slain by Gothmog, the Lord of the Balrogs. |

+ Fëanturi : Mandos and Lórien, also called the Fëanturi, were brothers. Their real names were Námo and Irmo. Mandos and Lórien were originally the names of the places where they dwelt. |

+ Fellowship : It is the name which is given to the nine characters (Frodo, Aragorn, Legolas, Sam, Pippin, Merry, Gimli, Boromir and Gandalf) who join together in order to destroy the One Ring and to defeat Sauron. |

+ Fen of Serech : The Fen of Serech lay on the upper course of the Sirion, at the inflowing of its tributary, the Rivil. It played a part in many battles, such as the Dagor-nuin-Giliath and the Dagor Bragollach. It was in the Fen where Barahir saved Finrod (see below) from the Orcs during the Dagor Bragollach. Later the Fen played an important part in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad. |

+ Finarfin : Son of Finwë (see below) and Indis, brother of Fingolfin (see below) and half-brother of Fëanor (see above). When Fëanor decided to leave Valinor, Finarfin remained there and became king of those of the Noldor who also remained. His children, under them also his daughter Galadriel, all followed Fëanor. |

+ Fingolfin : Son of Finwë (see below) and Indis, brother of Finarfin (see above) and half-brother of Fëanor (see above). When the Noldor left Valinor because Fëanor had been sent away by the Valar, Fingolfin joined them, although he didn't agree with Fëanor. But he didn't want to let his chidlren and his people alone. After Fëanor's death, Fingolfin became High King of the Noldor. He settled down in the land Hithlum, near Morgoth' fortress Angband. Four hundred years long he was able to besiege Angband, but in the battle of Dagor Bragollach Morgoth was able to brake the siege. In anger Fingolfin rode to Angband and demanded sinlge combat with Morgoth and was killed by him. His body was saved by Thorondor, who brought it to the Encircling mountians, where Turgon built a cairn over it. |

+ Fingon : Eldest son of Fingolfin (see below), he became King of the Noldor after his father had been slain by Morgoth. Fingon became known for the rescue of Maedhros from Thangorodrim and was slain by Gothmog in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad. |

+ Finrod : Born in Valinor during the Years of the Trees he was the eldest son of Finarfin (see above) and the brother of Galadriel. Finrod founded Minas Tirith and Nargothrond. |

+ Finwë : He was the leader of the Noldor, Fëanor (see above) was his son. He lived very long in Valinor but after the Darkening of Valinor he was slain by Melkor who was searching everywhere for the Silmaril which had been made by Finwë's son Fëanor (see above). |

+ Firímar : The race of Men. It means "the Mortals". |

+ Firth Of Drengist : A firth of the Great Sea. It reached the Cirith Ninniach and laid north of Nevrast. |

+ Formenos : A stronghold, built be Fëanor (see above) after his expulsion form Tirion. There he hid the Silmaril and from there Morgoth stole the Silmaril. Formenos laid in the north of Valinor. |

+ Fredegar "Fatty" Bolger : He was a friend of Frodo Baggins and helped him when Frodo had to leave the Shire. He was the son of Odovacar and Rosamunde Bolger. |
