+ Thingol : Also called Elwë. He was the Greatest of the Lords of the Sindar. During the Great Journey of the Elves to the west, Thingol met Melian in the woods of Nan Elmoth. He fell in love with her and instead of travelling on with the other Elves, Thingol stayed together with Melian in Beleriand. There they founded the woodland realm of Doriath, which Melian protected with her powers. More than 500 years they lived in peace. But then Beren brought a Silmaril to Thingol as the bride-price of Thingol's daughter Lúthien. Thingol sammoned the Dwarves to set the Silmaril into the necklace Nauglamír. He looks like a human, is surely very old and probably immortal. The only thing we know for sure is that the One Ring does not affect him, but he is also not able to destroy it. This is how Gandalf described him : "But I had forgotten Tom Bombadil, if indeed this is still the same that walked the woods and hills long ago, and even then was older than the old. Iarwain Ben-adar we call him, oldest and fatherless. The ring has no power over him. He is his own master. But he cannot alter the Ring itself, nor brake his power over others. And now he is withdrawn into a little land, within bounds that he has set, though none can see them, waiting perhaps for a change of days, and he will not step beyond them."

When he was a child, his mother Morwen sent him to Doriath to protect him from the Ostlings. Thingol, King of Doriath, accepted him as a foster-child and Beleg became Túrin's friend and teacher. After some years, Túrin argued with Saeros, an elf who also living in Doriath. He killed him accidently. He was so afraid that Thingol would punish him that he fled out of Doriath. He became the leader of a group of bandits and their headquarter laid in the halls of the dwarf Mîm. But the bandits had killed one of Mîm's sons and therefore he betrayed them and told the Orcs where the bandits hide. The Orcs attacked them and kidnapped Túrin. Túrin's friend, Beleg, rescued him but in his fear Túrin didn't realize that it was Beleg and slew his best friend. After that, the Noldo Gwindor led him to Nargothrond, where Túrin became a leader again, but this time the leader of a group of Elves. He led them to fight against Morgoth's servants openly, but the Elves were defeated and the dragon Glaurung destroyed Nargothrond. The curse of Morgoth was upon Túrin, and when he met his sister Nienor he fell in love with her . However he didn't know that she was his sister because their mother had sent him away to Doriath while he was still very young. So he married his own sister. It took many years until Túrin finally killed Glaurung and found out that Nienor was his sister. When he realized that, Túrin and his sister commited suicide.
