+ Vairë : Wife of Namó, also called the Weaver. She wove all the things that had ever been in time into her storried webs and the halls of Mandos were clothed with them. |

+ Valacirca : Also called the Sickle of the Valar. It was made of seven stars which Varda (see below) set in the sky in the north as a warning for Melkor and as a sign of doom. She did that at the time of the awakening of the Elves. |

+ Valinor : After Melkor destroyed the Lamps of the Valar and the first dwelling place of the Valar, Almaren, the Valar founded Valinor. To protect Valinor against Melkor the Valar surrounded Valinor by the mountains called Pelóri. The capital of Valinor was the city Valmar, next to it laid the mountain Taniquetil, the highest mountain of the world where Manwë and Varda lived. Later Valinor was taken out of the world and could only be reached by the Elves. |

+ Valmar : The city in the east of Valinor. Many Valar lived there and the Two Trees of Valinor grew nearby Valmar. |

+ Vaná : Oromë's wife, also called the Ever-young. All flowers sprang when she passed and all the birds sang at her coming. She was the younger sister of Yavanna and also a Valar. |

+ Vanyar : The first clan of Elves which travelled to Aman during the Great Journey of the Elves. Their leader Ingwë beared the title High King of the Elves. |

+ Varda : She dwelt with Manwë and was called Lady of the Stars. She was the most beautiful of the Valar because the light of Ilúvatar lived still in her face. The light is her power and her joy. The Elves loved Varda the most, they called her Elbereth. |

+ Vása : Another name for the Sun, given to it by the Noldor. Vása means "the Heart of Fire". |

+ Vinyamar : A town built at the beginning of the First Age by Turgon and his people after their return to Middle-Earth. It laid beneath Mount Taras in Nevrast. After they had been living there for about a hundred years, Turgon and his people left the city and went to Gondolin. Vinyamar means "New Home". |
