+ Yavanna : A Valar and the wife of Aulë, also called Giver of the Fruits. She was the lover of all things that grew on earth and she had all their countless forms in her mind. Her second name was Kementári, Queen of the earth.

+ Year of the sun : The time after the first rising of the Sun which began in the first year of the First Age, after the Two Trees of Valinor had been destroyed.

+ Year of the trees : The years from the founding of Valinor until ist darkening. During these years Valinor was lit by the Two Trees of Valinor. After they had been destroyed by Melkor and Ungoliant, the Valar made the Sun and the Moon to give light to Middle-Earth. With the first rising of the Sun the Years of the Sun (see above) began.

+ Younger Children of Ilúvatar : Another name for the race of Men.
