|
In time the Vanyar and the Noldor were led by Oromė to the western shores of the Hither Lands, and from there the Eldar looked in fear in the sea that laid between the shores of Middle-Earth and the mountains of Aman. Now Ulmo was sent from the Valar to the shores where the Eldar were waiting and with his words he was able to turn the fear of the Eldar into desire. Ulmo uprooted an isle and anchored it in the Bay of Balar where the Eldar were standing. The Eldar embarked on that isle and were drawn over the sea by Ulmo until they finally reached Valinor. When the Teleri, who were dwelling in Middle-Earth, heard that the Vanyar and the Noldor were gone to Valinor, they also travelled to the Bay of Balar. There they settled down and were often visited by Ossė and Uinen. "Thus it came to be that the Teleri who were from the beginning lovers of water and the fairest singers of all the elves, were after enamoured of the Seas and their songs were filled with the sound of waves upon the shore." In Valinor the Noldor were sad because they were seperated from their friends, the Teleri, and finally Ulmo went to the shores of Middle-Earth again to bring the Teleri to Valinor, too. Ossė convinced some of the Teleri to stay in Middle-Earth and those were the Falathrim, the Elves of the Falas. Cirdan the Shipwright was their lord. The other Teleri embarked on Ulmo's isle but before the isle reached Valinor Ossė followed it and called to the Teleri. He didn't want them to leave as he loved them and their songs. The Teleri heard Ossė and asked Ulmo to stop their journey. Ossė rooted the isle again and from now on it was called Tol Eressėa, the Loney Isle. In Valinor the city of the Elves was built and it was called Tirion. Because the Noldor returned later to Middle-Earth and became very important here you can see a list of the names and kinship of the princes of the Noldor :
Later the Teleri desired after all to go to Valinor and see their friends the Noldor again. Ulmo sent Ossė to them and he taught them how to built ships. On those ships the Teleri finally reached the shores of Aman. After some years the Vanyar left Tķrion and settled down on the hill of Manwė. |
