Okay, here is my dilema... I need to find someone who is willing to help me out. I need to find someone willing to make an outfit for me... I'm looking to have someone make me a High Elven King Outfit or Costume. LOL Fit's me doesn't it... Anyway, the reason I need this is because my wife and I are going to renew our vows this summer at a Ren. Faire ( http://www.michrenfest.com/ ) I would like to have the whole kit and kaboodle.. Anybody willing???

Here is what I have in mind... and this would be perfect but I don't know if this is for sale or not... Does anyone know this language??

Oh dear me! And I who thought you wanted some advise on sewing! lol Hunni I'm a little bit too far away from you for such a job...it would not be successful since you'd need to try it on for size and all. BUT there are bound to be seemstresses and taylors in your part of the world. We have quite a collection of links in here, people who specialize in period or elven costumes...even wedding clothes in elven style. Could that be an option?

Anything could be an option... I really like that costume in that link but I just don't know where to start... :( I'm hoping someone can either step up and help make a costume such as that or translate that website for me! HAHAHA!!

Where I live it's hard to find anyone who does such work... As for trying on stuff.. I had a lady make the outfit for me in my photo forum that I'm wearing and all she needed were my measurements... I don't know I just need some help!

Alright...I haven't seen anything like this for sale anywhere but you could start looking at these sites;

Brianas (http://www.modaruniversity.org/briana/Briana.htm)

Cloak and Dagger (http://www.cloakmaker.com/robes.html)

Costumes,Period. (http://members.aol.com/dressmup/)

Dragonfly Design Studio (http://dragonflydesignstudio.com/)

Twin Roses Designs (http://www.twinrosesdesigns.com/)

Moresca (http://www.moresca.com/)

I've highlighted Twin Roses Designs because one of our forum members had an Eowyn gown made by them and it was beautiful and stunning and she couldn't praise them high enough. :)

How romantic that you wanna renew your vows. If I were closer to you and less tied up in the evenings I would surely have helped you dear. But I don't think it would be fair of me to say yes knowing that I wouldn't have the time to finish it for the ren fest.

If none of the above turn out to be an option you could also look at AlleyCatScratch (http://www.alleycatscratch.com/lotr/scrapbook/MenuElf.htm)
...the people who made these costumes might be able to help you.

Hope you find someone able and willing sweetie! :)

The only thing missing from the picture at the bottome is a Cloak to match.. I think the costume would look so much better... Anyway, I keep looking and as it seems I'm running into a road block... I will keep trying though!!!

So were none of those sites any help then? I trust you noticed they all do custom designs?

I saw those... However they are quite exspensive which I'm sure it's worth every penny. If I don't find something I will contact them (Twin Roses). My mother-in-law is really good at making things like this but she moved to Tenessee. So with that said... I will keep searching.. However, the lady that made the costume that Cuiel attached for me contacted me via email and told me the costume is for sale. I just couldn't understand her english very well and I didn't understand her conversion of the currency... lol

There are currency convertors on the internet, if that's any use. And they're very accurate.

I found currency converters but I think she did something wrong.. Cause I know she's not asking $1800.00 for that costume! I'll make it myself! HAHAHAHA!!! Heck maybe I'll just go as Gollum! HAHAHA!! Just kidding... I'm finding a lot of ideas.. I just need to make up my mind.. This could actually turn out to be a very expensive ordeal!!

HOW MUCH?? That's.....(does a quick calculation....) £900! Yeesh!

It is very beautiful and I'm sure the fabrics are both much nicer and better quality than a lot of stuff you see elsewhere. Still...it's a lot of money...not to be spent on a one time event or at least not for me. Actually it's in the price range of a Norwegian national costume and that is wool and linen all the way, with lots of embroidery and silver. I wouldn't pay that kind of money for something I couldn't lay my hands on first.

I'd say contact that lady who made your former costume AND your mum in law.

Hey Fin, I love your idea. ;) How cool!
I've come across someone who does this sort of thing.

I'm not sure what she charges, but you can contact and ask her. ;)

Such a beautiful idea, Fin;and so romantic,I might add!:rose:

I'll be looking for something for you too...there're some friends here who've made their own elven costumes and I recall they used either a site or a local patronist to draw out the design for them;if you have the patron(outfit design)finding someone to sew it for you becomes immensely easier!:)I'll ask and let you know!:)

Meanwhile, though, another site for you to check out:

Hey everybody!

Thanks for all the wonderful comments! We are still looking for patterns and most likely we will be mix-matching some patterns to get what I want. It seems like everything is just crazy right now but I'm sure it will all come together. I can't thank you enough for helping me with ideas and sites! You're all so wonderful! I wish you could be there!

Sincerely,

Fin
