Not sure if this is the right forum for a topic like this... so if any mods think it belongs somewhere else, feel free to move it. :)

During my first year of college, I got to take an English class on Tolkien. We mainly focused on The Hobbit and LOTR, but also incorporated sections of The Silmarillion. After reading the books, we also got to watch the film versions and see how PJ's interpretation was different from the books, and also how he sometimes paid homage to aspects of Tolkien's life. It was really interesting, and remains one of my favorite classes that I've taken.

Has anyone else gotten to take a class like that?

That sounds really terrific, Toru! My mum took a class on Tolkien when she was in college.

Oops! I missed this! :p

That sounds really cool! No, I've never had the chance to take a class on him, but would love to.

I missed taking a class on Tolkien, but I could have. I did though do a nice long term paper on LOTR, and that was good enough for me ;)
