I was just wondering why doesn't the edit feature works. (Limit of 15 min. after posting)?

Well, the reason for that is, we want to ensure that if an error is made during posting, that you have plenty of time to correct it. The limit was 5 minutes before, but we decided to increase it a bit.

However, any longer than that and you run the risk of someone going back and say, changing the original post which would throw off all subsequent replies.

This restriction helps to provide consistancy, and maintain readability with the threads.

I hope this helps...

Ok. It just that when I see that I have commited gramatical faults in a post, I would like to fix them. I will have to look more carefully at what I post.:naughty:

lol......

Well, you've got 15 minutes to fix them pesky errors mate!

But, if you catch it after that and really want it changed, say it's part of a story or something, don't hesitate to ask myself or any of the mods to change it for you! Provided the change does not change the course of the thread, then any mod or admin would be more than happy to assist!

It's what we live for!! lol

I honestly really don't see the need for this restriction - yeah, I understand the rationale, but I've been on tons of forums wiith unlimited edit time and this never poses a problem.

But, I suppose if it's deemed desirable here then I'll go along with it!

We had a situation where someone started a thread on a rather heated issue, which led to heated discussion. The person who started the thread then when back and changed what was originally said, leaving the rest of the people who participated in said heated discussion looking rather foolish and out-of-place, if not downright insane....hence the need for a time-limit....we don't want that sort of thing to become a habit....might lead to a flamer's paradise, and that's exactly the sort of thing we want to avoid here. It may seem restrictive, but, at the time, we all felt that it was the best way to keep a calm, focused, community, and we appreciate everyone's understanding!!

ah, ok.

Nice for a semi-n00b to know some board history when these things come up. :)
