View Full Version : If Gandalf rides Shadowfax without a saddle...

... then why oh why is he using stirrups in this pic!

Spoiler hunting as per usual, when I found piccies of the new 2003 calendar, and pressed my nose to the computer screen to see better (and drool better too :naughty: ) when I noticed something in a pic, Gandalf is plainly using stirrups, yet he uses no saddle or bridle on Shadowfax. I can understand needing them while shooting the scene (how many people can ride a horse without saddle or bridle?) but can't you just doctor the pic later on to remove them? Hopefully they will before the film pops out. Anyway, the incriminating pic for your review:

ummmmmmmmm it doesn't look green to me. It looks gray and remember he covered up his white robes with a grey cloak??
tho quickbeam if you havent read the books I suppose you wouldn't know that...
have you read them??? I seem to remember reading something about you not having read them in another thread but if that's so how would you know about quickbeam?...
no idea ive just thoroughly succeeded in confusing myself.

I think he las a Lorien cloak. That's what it looks like from some of those pictures at the calender thing.

when they travelled thru Rohan he was disguising his white status....at least he was in the book....can i suggest that you read the book Quickbeam, if you arent already....its well worth it

Gandalf casts off his grey cloak when he reveals himself to Theoden and ends Wormtongue's influence over him, maybe in that pic he and the others are just on the outskirts of Edoras and are gazing at it. After all, its supposed to be a rather magnificent hall from what I've heard....
