...in middle earth, what city or region would you live in? I would choose Minas Tirith, it is well protected and is beautiful. ;)
Isiltįri
October 4th,2002, 09:48 AM
Actually, I would have picked Mirkwood, but I voted according to your choices. :)

Minas Tirith... tho I agree with Isiltari, I would rather somewhere else... Numenor in fact. I just have so much respect and liking for the numenoreans and their descendants.

I picked Rivendell but I definately, like Isiltįri, would have picked Mirkwood if given the chance.
hmm... but actually if given the chance to live in middle earth, I don't think I would settle in one place for quite some time. I would definately travel over the place first.

October 5th,2002, 07:06 AM
Well, I chose Minas Tirith because of the Numenor connection and all the excitement that surrounds it, being a borderland. I wonder how many people would have chosen Lothlorien though?
Bawax
October 6th,2002, 07:40 PM
i would have chosen Dale or Erebor personally as it is i chose lake town.
i like the mingling of the dwarves and men for some reason.

October 7th,2002, 08:05 PM
i put Rivendell, but in a way i think Lórien would have been amazing (as long as it didnt fade the way it did in the book)

I would live in Hobbiton because I love the way it looks. Rivendell looks to cold and 'stoney' to me. I am not into elegance. I am into relaxation and the beauty of nature. Rivendell didn't seem as sunny as Hobbiton.
Bonos-Girl
October 8th,2002, 02:28 PM
thats because when they designed the set they thought of it as autumn because it was a period when the elves where leaving etc... if it was really sunny and bright then it wouldn't reflect the state of the elves.

I chose Rivendell, yet my holiday plans would almost always include Lothlorien.
Bonos-Girl
October 8th,2002, 06:08 PM
yeah....its a shame that lothlorian wasn't included as an option as that is what is would have chosen if i had a choice between rivendell and lothlorien.

October 10th,2002, 06:44 PM
not to be a conformist or anything, but i also chose rivendell. i like the elegant look myself. I go for the darker beauty. I think lothlorien is fabulous, and would have visited many times, but I go for the evening, not the morning.
Ringwraith
October 14th,2002, 08:27 PM
I like Lake Town.
Pil
October 14th,2002, 09:29 PM
I chose Minas Tirith... i just felt like i connected with it more than any other place in ME...but rivendell would be second choice...then lebennin...or rohan...darn it...i'll be a ranger too bonos-girl! lol

Hobiton in The Shire for me! I love hobbits and The Shire is so beautiful...even in the books. However, I might stand out at 4'10. (Yes! I would actually be taller than everyone else!)
Lothlorien would be wonderful to live in, though. So VERY beautiful.
Tar-Ancalimė
October 18th,2002, 09:22 PM
are you really 4'10''?? hmm there goes our twin thing!! lol j/k um yeah i voted minas tirith cause it's so... aweing (and i do not think that is a word...)

Of course, a simple hobbit must live in Hobbiton---but I would visit Rivendell often!

I chose Hobbiton. Like Elijah Wood said, all those curving lines are so peaceful. Who says we have to live in houses with straight lines??

November 3rd,2002, 05:16 PM
I chose Minas Tirith. although Rivendell is nice. I like travelling to new places so I would visit others especially hobbiton given the chance. lol

I chose Rivendell, and hey after the elves left it would be really easy to get a place.lol I would actually like it better thou if they were still there.

November 5th,2002, 11:22 PM
all these reasons are why I chose Rivendell, but also cause it's just a beautiful place. Legolas coming to visit would be very nice....... :loveyou:

November 6th,2002, 08:13 PM
I chose Rivendell because I am quit a elf and I like water.. When i could chose some other place, then i have chosen Grey heaven or Moria.. I love those mines :dragon:
Glóin the Dark
November 7th,2002, 03:30 PM
I voted for Bree, although I think that I would really prefer Archet, or perhaps Combe...

November 7th,2002, 06:18 PM
i'm sorry this is slightly off point but i love your sign in name roflmaoroflmaoroflmaoroflmao
Anyway I quite liked Bree in the book, specially the PRancing Pony, but it didnt look so inviting in the film really.

November 8th,2002, 01:41 AM
None of the above. It would have to be Lothlorien.
Adunauriel
November 8th,2002, 11:13 PM
I too would have chosen Lothlorien had it been there..... It wasn't so I went with the next best thing.:)

I'd travel as much as i ever could. But if i had to settle, id chose lake town. near erebor, and pretty close to rivendell.

I would love to call Rivendell, HOME. From here I could travel anywhere in middle earth, to all my other favorite places including Lothlorien (but I wouldn't want to live there, too other worldly). Upon returning I could sigh and say "There's no place like home." (now I wonder who said that!) While in Rivendell I would spend many evenings in the Hall of Fire listening to the stories, legends, and songs of old, converse with elves and make the acquaintance of folk from all over the realm. I would learn elven languages and do a lot of journaling by the fire. Sigh, if only....

I would say Rohan! But then again, I stick out like a sore thumb. Rivendell would be my second choice but since all the elves are leaving it would be sad and deserted! :( hey I'd like to ermm... :::cough::: :naughty: *visit* Figwit though.

November 12th,2002, 11:17 PM
I would really like to live in Arnor someplace but that wasn't listed so I picked Minas Tirith I guess I would like Rivendell to though.
Sauron
November 15th,2002, 03:22 AM
Mordor would be my first pick, even though it's not beautiful, it is well protected. Isengard would also be on my list, though i choose Hobbiton(Love to push hobbits around :flamer:
Lintefaniel
November 17th,2002, 08:48 AM
I would prefer Lorien but I see it isn't a voting option! So I chose Rivendell. I'm a country girl but a glorified wilderness fanatic. Meaning living in a tree is very appealing to me....;)  :)

I too prefer Lothlorien, but had to choose Rivendell for this Poll. Or, maybe I could live in Both.......;)

i have chosen hobbiton.
it“s so peaceful and happy there and i would really enjoy living there.
;)
but rivendell wouldn“t be bad and minas tirith, too
Ithielnor
November 19th,2002, 06:26 PM
I chose Minas Tirith, but if Khazad-dūm had been a choice I would've chosen that. My vacation home is in Ithilien, most likely Henneth Annūn:)
p.s. how do you kill a Balrog?

November 20th,2002, 10:05 PM
actually I did get a kick, but I don't think it would work either. It might but out his flames, but it wouldn't harm him at all. Also were do we get a large amount of water in Khazad-dūm??
Saruman
November 20th,2002, 10:42 PM
No one will agree with me, but I would have liked to have owned in Orthanc, before it was devastated. It's basically like owning your own mansion!
Out of the choices there, Minas Tirith.

Well, in the book. It talked about the Fellowship hearing water running under them when they first entered Moria. That is if memory is serving me properly.....:)
Ithielnor
November 21st,2002, 03:54 AM
yes there was water, in particular,
There were fissures and chasms in the walls and floor, and every know and then a crack would open right before their feet. The widest was more than seven feet across......the noise of churning water came up from far below, as if some great mill-wheel was turning in the depths.
so if we could get some pumps going it should work.lol
Adunauriel
November 21st,2002, 04:57 AM
Well there's a plan... If we got some pumps, we could pump up the water. Put out the Balrog, after the flames were gone he'd probably be easier to kill? Then we slay the beast, and rid Moria of it's Orcen inhabitants. And, boom Moria becomes an ok place to live......;) lol
I think thou I'd still rather live in either Rivendell, or Lothlorien...;)
Ithielnor

nah!! khazad-dūm would be

November 21st,2002, 09:36 AM
Hehe sorry to interupt you, but we're talking about a powerful Maia, not the bad witch of the east. You can't just put down his flames with water. The Balrogs are spirits of fire, they are fire, their hearts are fire, it's not a chemical reaction or a candle-like thing you can extinguish with water.
Adunauriel
November 21st,2002, 09:40 AM
Well Mirky I ment the water as being a way to put the Balrogs fire out. Then you could get close enough to hopefully fight it.... More so then that. We're merely joking, I believe we all knew it would take more then water to defeat it....;) lol
Lady Melody
November 21st,2002, 10:21 AM
I thought Gandalf had already killed the Balrog in Moria. Anyways... I chose Rivendell because it's the main place of knowledge and reflection for elves... and since there are records almost since the awakening of the elves there (I assume).... Man, it's a scholar's heaven... ;)
Iarfirithwen
November 21st,2002, 10:43 AM
I chose Rivendell from that list (with Minas Tirith 2nd) though my first choice would be Lothlorien. Like Lintefaniel I could quite happily live in the trees. Indeed, anywhere for that matter, so like Pil and Bonus-Girl I'm a ranger at heart (although a female half-elvish one which is probably a double no no, not that that worries me, I don't mind breaking such a convention ;) ) I could never be tied to anywhere for long, though I can imagine spending much time in Lothlorien, Rivendell and Minas Tirith during the 3rd Age. Being able to see Minas Tirith in its early glory days would be something, or during King Elessars reign. I'd love to travel through Ithilien, The Shire, Mirkwood, Arnor, The Blue/White/Grey/Misty Mountains .... hey you name it, I want to go there.
Ranger by heart,
Iarfirithwen.
p.s., Ithielnor and Adunauriel, I hate to put a .... dampner lol roflmao lol on things but wouldn't the water just turn to steam on the Balrog? You could get bad steam burns and we wouldn't want that now would we. :nono:
I mean he comes from "down there" and there's an aweful lot of water, isn't that where "The Watcher" originally came from aswell.
Adunauriel
November 21st,2002, 11:05 AM
Yes it probably wouldn't work, and no I don't want the steam burn. We were really just kidding anyways....lol
I too chose to live in Rivendell, but would rather be in Lothlorien. I am a Rivendell Elf, but have spent time between my home there, and Lothlorien. I greatly enjoyed sleeping in the trees. There's a sence of freedom up there. I find it very hard to leave, but I must. I can't neglect my duties back home. :)

Duh! I'd definitely live in Hobbiton. I didn't even need to think about that. :)
It's such a beautiful, peaceful, happy place.
If I couldn't live in Hobbiton or the Shire, I'd live in Rivendell or Lothlorien.
Gwaihir

I'd live in Rivendell! Lots of nice magic! And it's also peaceful. It'd be so nice to live with elves!!!roflmao

My choice goes to Rivendell because I like to live among the elves. Lothlorien is a wonderful place too. As long as there are elves in the dwelling is my main criteria.

December 14th,2002, 04:34 PM
Ah, to live in MIddle- earth! Allthough I guess I'm most like a hobbit, I chose Rivendale, cuz I deep down have an urge to more adventure than most hobbits do, and I want to fight my own reluctance to follow that urge! Hobbiton would be my holidayhome, a good place to relax.

December 14th,2002, 09:24 PM
I voted Rivendell, but would really like to live there, or Lothlorien. Both of them just seem to be wonderful. I love the timeless quality of Lothlorien, so I'd probably spend alot of time there....;)
