Ok this is the faramir thread so why does the movie faramir have kinda dirty blond hair (I'm not cutting down on his hair thats the only way i could discribe it), in the book it is stated as being black? Ok, this is the 'I love' forum so i got to think of something nice to say about him. Actually he was my favorite character from the books, and his piccies, other than his hair, look great i'm looking forward to seeing what they do wth him in the next two movies.

Even though I'm partial to the elves...I think Faramir is probably my favorite human. I think they gave him that light hair so as to make him look like Boromir and I think they made Boromir look the way he did so we wouldn't confuse him with Aragorn. Confused? Good because so am I!

He is changed but he is not as bad as all that. And Dave Wenham can act better with a single glance than any actor that I have seen in a long time. Did that make sense? I loved book Faramir but I didn't expect the move character to be the same. I mean no other character in the movie is like the book character...why should we have had such high hopes for Faramir?

David Wenham is a good actor, but i was still mad at changes in Faramir. I know Boromir will always be my fave brother, but still! They changed Faramir too much. Oh well.

Well. I'm withholding judgement until the SE DVD. I have a feeling there were lines and scenes cut out that will make things a little clearer. Remember how some people raked poor Celeborn over the coals until the SE, then they were apologizing all over and deciding he wasn't so bad after all. :)

have you seen the movie yet, Eowyn? Faramir is not as bad as we feared. wenham is an excellent actor, and when he (finally) let frodo go, it was wonderfully done... that scene has to be one of my favorites in the movie... its touching... Faramir wasn't a second Boromir by any means, just another way to explore the effects of the ring... he did it wonderfully, and he was never trying to take it for himself... only for his father and the country he serves... plus, hes hot ;)

I think the two brother's love of Gondor is really evident in the films - in the first one, Boromir was never trying to take the ring for himself, but to save his people. That was the same message they put across for Faramir - he wanted to use the ring to save Gondor.

Ohh Arwen I don't know where you live but if you ever get the chance to see a Drama series called Seachange you have to watch the first season or so when David Wenham was in it. He played a character called Diver Dan who was just simply adorable and amazing. I mean I'm sure the entire female Australian population was in love with him there. It was funny at the Australian premiere for TTT in Sydney there seemed to quite a few women out the front yelling "Diver Dan". I giggled at that.

I just posted this link in the David Wenham thread in the Cast forum but I thought you guys might like the video too. I was just on a search to see if SeaChange (a show that David Wenham was in; his character "Diver Dan" had the female half of the Australian population swooning all over the placelol) was still on TV somewhere and I came across a 60 minutes (http://sg1.paddington.ninemsn.com.au/sixtyminutes/stories/2001_09_09/story_411.asp) interview with him (as with the usual 60minutes interviews, it's more a biographical interview about David Wenham its not about LOTR). There's a transcript of the interview but there's also a 4 min video of part of the interview (use the play button, on the left, that looks like a piece of film (http://sg1.paddington.ninemsn.com.au/sixtyminutes/media/60mins_video.asp?asf=/60_min/01_season/010909/the_mask_lo.wmv&x=1&msAd=60mins&brand=60%20Minutes)(this link works) - the picture was a bit screwy when I hit the "playbutton arrow" on the right). I really do recommend it to anyone (especially those that have not seen him before). The rest of the interview can be read in the transcript.

i've read all the various reasons and explanations as to why some ppl think faramir's changes were for the better, and i've also read opposing views where ppl seriously dislike the way pj adapted faramir's role onscreen; however, i still feel faramir's been made out to be more of an enemy to the hobbits than the book portrayed. since this subject has already been covered, there's no point in launching into our reasons for and against changes to faramir's character, but that's my opinion on faramir's book-to-screen adaptation.
