I don't suppose many here will have heard of Blue..but those from the U.K. should be ashamed of yourselves if you haven't...
Now...for those of you who are die hard blue fans like myself..you will be EXTREMELY excited to know that some girls from my school won a competition...on the saturday show...for BLUE to come to OUR SCHOOL AND PERFORM!!!! and guess what people...THEY DDDDDDDIIIIIDDDDDD!!!!! veryhappy veryhappy veryhappy
It was one fo the best days of my life! I mean...REALLY famous boy band coming to perform on your school stage and meet you and be cried over...it doesn't happen every day!
I don't know how many of you watch the saturday show...but if you did...you would have seen them talking to my friends announcing that they won...they got to spend the whole day with blue...darn it...but if you didn't see it and would like to have a look at my school, then check out the saturday show this saturday morning and see us cry, drool, and hurl ourselves at blue at any moment possible! lol

Why the goggle-eyes? And dont ask complicated questions.
As in all things my likes kinda vary and its a little tricksey to pin down exactly what type, I tend to go by the band or a singer. In that respect I can tell you.
Wolfstone I like, and the choirs (in general) and the more military style Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. For singers there are The Alexander Brothers, Andy Stewart amongst others, and you are probably no wiser now than you were before.
As for loving the Scots, well, Ive been kinda surrounded by them all my life (strange how many Scots you can find in the South West of England). When I was little I had a long stint in hospital and one of my nurses was Scottish, then when I went to secondary school mot only was my taxi-driver half-Scot but I also had a Scottish music teacher and a Scottish science teacher.
We had a Scottish gardener once and also have a Scottish neighbour.
This is digressing at a grand scale so I am going to shut up.

I am only very slightly weird...but i mean it...blue are a class boyband...i would like to point out here that ANY class of boyband can not compare to even the lowest class rockers...so there Il! lol

Pil, you're not alone - Blue are kinda ok, not the most talented peeps but definately better than some (and cute too)
One other thing - I like Westlife, I have a huge soft spot for them - don't ask me why I do not know.
But otherwise I am not a huge fan of boy bands - for the most part, they can all be flushed right down the loo!!lol

I am able to appreciate the finer things in life ie a good looking fella, it doesn't matter whether he is in a boyband, or what. I don't go for a particular type either. I reackon Jon Bon Jovi is pretty darn hunky too
And just coz i like boy bands, doesn't mean that i don't like any other music - i like lots, and I am not a bunny boiler lol

I know its a bit old now, but did anybody else get obsessed with Pop Idol? I mean, I used to make my friends sit and watch it, and we couldn't go out until after it had finished - so that meant for the final not going out till after 11pm (although was pretty merry by that time *hic*). And then I dragged all my mates to the concert. Its really sad I know - but it was a winning combination in my eyes - Ant and Dec, and Will!! (ps anyone got his new album?? we can't get it in OZ. pps We love Will  lol )
Bonos-Girl

Daisy Gamgee
November 12th,2002, 12:58 AM
oh, Ilmare, I agree with you on the Darius (although he looked better in Idol than he did in Stars) but Will? How can you not like Will?? Though I grew up listening to the sort of stuff he sang so that was in his favour!! oh well, its all only opinions
Ilmarė
November 12th,2002, 01:18 PM
Daisy... the problem i have with Will, Gareth and all that Pop Idol stuff is that they are manufactured... and i just don't have a lot of respect for those kinds of performers. Prefer bands/performers who have the talent to make it and because they've grafted for it... without the "leg up" that these so called pop stars get from these shows.
Unfortunately... there's far too little talent out there nowadays IMHO... just listen to the British Chartspfbbt ... all manufactured stuff... sampled music... nothing much original at all.mecry
Bonos-Girl
November 12th,2002, 04:58 PM
i still think that darius has more talent (if that's definable) than will.
..and ilmare surely no music can be entirely original....all chord patterns have been done before, and so have drum rythms and all the other components of songs.
Ilmarė
November 12th,2002, 06:15 PM
Lord, no B-G, I agree... no music is original per se... but there's SO much sampling of songs now... which are rehashed as "new" songs... i really don't like it. You don't need musical talent to make music like that... just good pc skills.
Bonos-Girl
November 13th,2002, 02:18 PM
i know what you mean...but pc skills are cool too...there are different types of music and some of these involve sampling..and most of this music credit's the origoinal song...as long as noone forces me to listen to music i dislike then i don't care how it's made...
Ronin
November 13th,2002, 04:03 PM
well, as said before...to each their own ;)
Daisy Gamgee
November 14th,2002, 01:26 AM
Ilmare, I agree with you about there being way too much manufactured stuff about. Whats especially annyoing is people chosen on looks, and not their talents, whereas somebody with the most amazing voice but the wrong look, gets left behind - thats such a shame.
But occasionally, IMO, the manufactured world can bring about a pretty original star to the charts. Take Robbie W, if he hadn't had his break in Take That, he wouldn't have been given a chance as a solo artist - and I remember many people saying he wouldn't make it on his own, and just look at him now  (I loved that song he did recently with the bloke from Faithless - I think it was called My Culture, and it was a concept developed by that bloke from Faithless and a few others, but can't remember what they were called either!!)
And its exactly as Ronin said - each to their own.
Ilmarė

When I was younger, I was a pop princess, but in the last couple of years my tastes are changing and I'm beginnning to find it annoying (God, I must be getting old!!), with the odd exception. (Westlife and Will, being the only exceptions;) )
I'm just beginning to like INXS - I know they've been around for ever, but back in the UK, I didn't really get that much exposure to them. Since my move to Oz, they get quite a bit of airplay, and they're pretty good:thumbs:
And, although I've always liked there stuff, I'm beginning to come to the conclusion that U2 are one of the best bands

lol thank for answering for me... sweetpea!;) lol ... and Korn starts with a K... just like Kitty does...not a C ;) lol lol
As swee... Ronin... so eloquently put it.. I am a Korn fanatic. That was the cleanest JD quote i could find. Wanted to put in so many more... but they would have been too heavily censored. You into Korn then, Adun? If you want to see those quotes.. let me know;)

Adunauriel, quite alright...just be sure to pick up some soon ;) and QOTD soundtrack is pretty good...but for rock compilations, one of the best mass market has to be either Scorpion King or Resident Evil
