The books of Hp are brilliant, the Lotr books are brilliant, they're all great! According to rumors the fifth book is coming out at Christmas, can anyone confirm it?

Tar-Ancalimė
October 6th,2002, 05:26 PM
I can deny it absolutely, I know for sure the next is coming out in 2003. When in 2003, I don't know, but it won't be this year. mecry mecry mecry I can't stand the suspense... ARGHHH WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?????????? she leaves us with the hugest cliffhanger... and then doesn't put out another book for two and a half years (and counting)!!!!!

So, Eowyn, you're in the other camp now... did you root for Sauron too?? :naughty: heh heh...

I'm pretty sure it'll come out in June 2003 r July an di know Who's gonna die!!!!!???? ok Tar I am here to defend Harry Potter HP Rocks!!! haha take that although I haven't read the LOTR books so am not going into anything of which ones better but I love the HP books I have read them about a million times and still can't put them down the movie was nowhere near as good as the book though books 2,3,4 were better than 1 and yeah I always get put in Slytherin too and despite P. Snape being all evil I love him except in book 3 and I'm rambing so I'll stop now

Tar-Ancalimė
October 7th,2002, 02:45 AM

You know in the fourth book at the end Hagrid and Madame Maxime are sent away to do something, my theory of it is that they go and get the banished giants to join with them. Does that sound plausible??? :)

Tar-Ancalimė
October 7th,2002, 09:11 PM
I think that's exactly what Rowling wants you to think. I mean, it makes sense and all...

therefore, I think that's what won't[i] happen... just cause the plots are always so unexpected...

did [i]that sound plausible?

Akiba
October 8th,2002, 12:25 AM
I actually think it will happen and now this is turning into a HP discussion here but I'll waith for someone else to turn it around and I love Snape except in book 3 where he really just gets on my nerves but he rocks!! I realy want to know what dumbledore really sent snape back to be a spy he is so cool and I'm gonna stop now before I get in trouble

Tar-Ancalimė
October 8th,2002, 12:34 AM
man i hope he pretends to be a spy do you know how cool that would be???? wow like go snape. you know i really like him in the fourth book, when you know all about how he turned good just in time! wow like these are the best books ever im so excited cant wait for fifth book oh yeah

Akiba
October 10th,2002, 04:10 AM
so we can't talk about the book here ok umm yeah I'd rather read the 5th book rather than the 2nd movie cause I mean we already know what's gonna happen but book 5 aaagggggghhh everything fell apart!!!!!!!!!! in book 4) I think movie 2 though will be alot better than the first one atleast the previews look cooler

does anyonethink snape is fit?

Firith Evenstar
October 10th,2002, 06:21 PM
come on. lighten up on poor daniel radcliffe. would you have had some other more accomplished little actor play the role, and not look like him? he was new! he looked the part! and i think he was just a little intimidated. poor guy. that was a huge movie to make, and i think it did just fine. and i don't care what anyone says, it obviously must have been good, it is like, what? the largest grossing film of all time? and if my favorite book came out onto film, i dont' care how much i like it, if the movie sucks..i won't go see it twice. so hp movie had to have been good.

*done ranting heh lol*

on snape: he would rule as a spy! i hate/love him! alan rickman is awesome.

plus, i heard the movie did more actor incorporation, so the cgi looks a lot better, plus there's more quidditch! yay! and the actors have more confidence, and it's just all around better. on the book: no, its not coming out in christmas. there is not set date. you can't set a date on perfection. as chris columbus says: "get off her back" lol. that was funny.

anyone else just, in love with the idea of quidditch?

Akiba
October 11th,2002, 02:51 AM
ooh ooh me! me! I liked the first quidditch game and it wasn't really in that much detail but that's mainly one of the reasons I love book 3 so much cause all the quidditch and I wanna see Harry and Malfoy going at it on the quidditch field and I loved Snape and think he was perfect in the movie exactly like Ipictured him in the books his movemens and everything

Little Devil
October 13th,2002, 04:26 PM
The trailer for the movie is pretty good. Is it just me or has Emma Watson (Hermione) gotten prettier?

Akiba
October 17th,2002, 12:17 AM
I think she was always pretty pretty but yeah she looks kinda older yay our english teacher letsus read Harry Potter for our outside reding books though fr those of you who know I haven't read the LOTR boks I should prob read those but I love HP books yeah anyways I still haven't seen the trailers am gonna dl one right now though ok this migt sound weird ut I though Wood was pretty cute I mean he wasn't hot or anything but he ws ok looking is there someting wrong with me??!!

Ronin
October 17th,2002, 08:23 PM
3 things will actually make this 2nd Harry Potter movie watchable....

1... Rowling lets loose her incredibly tight reigns on Columbus (that'll never happen)
2... some modicum of reality is instilled in the FX (fingers still crossed)
3... I actually like the books when i finally read them...hmmmm ;)

nah, shall always approach a movie with a clean slate...even the dreaded Harry Potter :elfeek:

Akiba...should definitely read the LOTR books - they're fantastic

Tar-Ancalimė
October 18th,2002, 12:03 AM
lol... youre right about the first one there... aw but i liked the FX... and the books are fantastic!

yeah akiba we've gone thru this business about the books... but i wont say another word

yeah Wood was all right... I mean no where near, say, Sean or Orli of Viggo... but pretty nice, yup :)

yes I know about the books nope wood nothing at all compared to orli or Viggo not the tinniest bit close and I know this might sound weird or dumb but for some reason i didn't get anything at all of what Ronin's post meant though I did think the fx were ok

Ronin
October 18th,2002, 06:40 PM
sorry, just meant that several things would have to happen in order for HP 2 to be "decent". and i don't know what it was about the effects that got to me...guess i just expected a little much from the FX department @ ILM.

wait, y'all saying Wood isn't as cute as Viggo or Orli? oh no u just didn't!! ;) lol

Cuiel Rilwen
October 18th,2002, 07:33 PM
Lets get one thing strait first; I hate sports, I'm what you might call an ignorant. BUT I LOVE QUIDDITCH! How anyone can make up such a fantastic game is beyond me. I'm totally in awe over Rowlings imagination, and her thorroughness, not to mention her abillity to keep surprising me. notworthy And even if the game in the film in some parts doesn't stand closer examination, it was wonderful and dynamic and I can't wait to see the quidditch scenes in Cos, which are supposed to be even cooler! Did any of you guys read "Quidditch trough the ages"?

Gatsby
October 18th,2002, 07:41 PM
oh wood, for a while i was thinking 'are they talking about elijah?'. anyway i think wood is wicked cute; i don't even know if you can compare the cuteness of all three. orli (film) is just beautiful (Real-life) scruffy bad boy, viggo is rugged manly and strangely regal (only cute in the film, otherwise he looks like... i don't know but it's not hot), and wood is the neighborhood sweety. all wonderful in their own distinct ways

guess i'll just have to read how Rowling describes Quidditch to see if it does stand up to closer inspection on the page...ech, i'll do it sometime ;)...i guess lol

Little Devil
October 19th,2002, 02:28 PM
If you look at the word Quidditch, the beginning Qu is like the quaffle and the last part is the snitch, so the words kinda blend in from the balls, well that's what I think. ;)

October 19th,2002, 02:39 PM

yup me neither that's brilliant what I really like about wood though is his accent I say out of all three of them wood has the cooler accent
I'm in awe of her imagination too the quidditch scenes I'm actually looking forward to though are the ones in the 3rd book

Well if you like Sean, I hope you've visited www.seanbiggerstaff.com. He doesn't post very often, but when he does it's worth reading! Cuiel Rilwen

Right now I'm more worried about who's gonna replace Dumbledoor. It's gonna feel real weird with someone else in that part...

i guess i'd probably say a little more on this but that he's dead... and I feel horrible saying things about the dead... To right, Wood doesn't look at all strange, on the contrary! The caracters are growing, so naturally the actors have to as well, if they didn't, that would seem strange to me!

Ronin
October 28th,2002, 10:15 PM

I think I'm going to cry when I see richard harris as dumbledore for the last time (well last film) He's a really good actor and I feel sorry for his family... saw him on parky (they replayed one from 1973) he was so funny. We're running out of good actors....

Ronin

and would rather see Richard Harris' body double take over....but if not, definitely Lee

Gatsby
October 30th,2002, 12:30 AM
there is a rumor that he's the #1 choice to replace him... i would support that choice... he makes a great wizard. but they would have to make his dumbldore completely different than Saruman... this is a kids movie after all :)

Ronin
October 30th,2002, 12:38 AM
well, no doubt in my mind that the great Lee could transform himself into a more lovable wizard. not saying that saruman isn't lovable...just, less lovable than Dumbledore ;)

Tar-Ancalimė
October 30th,2002, 01:10 AM
well guys, really Dumbledore is not exactly loveable......i would not use that term in speaking of him........kind hearted, wise, venerable, yes, but........loveable......not really ;)

Akiba
October 30th,2002, 04:27 AM
yeah kind hearted sounds better than ovable Sarum certainly doesn't look kind hearted but yeah he woud make a good dumbledore poor poor dumbledoor I wanna know who's gonna play Tom Riddle in the 2nd one or who did

Cuiel Rilwen
October 30th,2002, 06:57 AM
Lee would be good, but Ian McKellan, (did I spell that right?), would also be a good choice. He has that good humourous glimst in his eye that Dumbledoor needs. Lets face it, there aren't so many actors that would fit the part. Looking forward to the decission with great suspence...

Bonos-Girl
October 30th,2002, 01:02 PM
yeah...thats a great idea...ian mckellen.....he'd be great!

Ronin
October 30th,2002, 01:29 PM
McKellen would be fantastic...also has that warmth that i just don't see Lee radiating lol

and Christian Coulson is playing Tom Riddle...for those who want to know.

Little Devil
October 30th,2002, 03:28 PM
Lee was first choice for Dumbledore, but was too busy.I agree Ian McKellen would a great Dumbledore.

Gatsby
October 30th,2002, 07:29 PM
he would be but the onl y thing is is that ian is so recognisable as gandalf, you don't want people going to harry potter and saying 'hey look it's gandalf!'.
on a completley different note... can't wait to see alan rickman in the next film, he was such perfect choice for snape, and in the preview he does a weird twirley thing so it should be neat!
out
gatsby

Cuiel Rilwen
October 30th,2002, 07:39 PM
Ofcourse it would be hard to make McKellen looking very different from Gandalf, since they have some things in common. But I also think that the two caracters differences in appearances might be what separate them. Dumbledoor obviously has to maintain the style that Harris created for him, he can't be all that different. The carmosine velvet cloaks and dressy hat might do the job. Aspecially if he takes the funny side of Dumbledoor a little further. Can't think of any other actor who might fit. Anyone?

Ronin
October 31st,2002, 02:11 AM
Nope, not me.

and lets not forget...McKellen was first recognized by the general public as Magneto.

Akiba
October 31st,2002, 04:57 AM
took my a while to say "hey that's magneto" but when I first saw Gandalf I said hey he would've made a good dumbledore alan ickman played snae so perfectly it wasweird I mean the way he talked and move and everything!! absolutely perfect
I heard they alredy got the new dumbledore but am not too sure or who it was

Cuiel Rilwen

Oh, and did you guys notice Daniel Radcliffe's nervous twitch?

One eye winks far too often.

Good examples of this is when he says these lines:

Jason Isaacs was excellent! How evil was he? Go Lucius baby! He got the character perfect! And Christian Coulson as Tom Riddle! Mark williams was funny as Arthur weasley, Ken Branagh was great as Lockhart - he was really funny too.
It was way better than 1st film - funnier, better special effects, acting has improved (Dan has learned some new facial expressions!)
Wasnt 4 hours though Little Devil! Although the seats in our cinema were really comfy so wouldnt have minded if it was - why arent seats always that squishy? They had headrests and everything!
Oh yeah, and they showed LOTR trailer too! It looks great on big screen!

Could you ask for a cuter red head then Ronald Weasley? I'm a sucker for the reds and though this one's well beyond the term cutesy, he cracks me up! I can't wait to see the 2nd movie!:whoopee:

I bet you're looking forward to seeing Bill and Charlie in 4th film then, Lintefaniel...!
Ron is funnier in 2nd film - you'll love him when he's scared of the spiders! And he is much taller...

Have you guys heard? Ian Mckellen could replace Richard Harris as Albus Dumbledore :elfeek: I'n not a fan of Harry Potter so I don't know what this role could mean but I can't imagine Ian playing a similar role in a rival film.
Thoughts?

I've actually shared some thoughts on Ian as Dumbledoor with some of you guys a while back, and I totally think he would be great! Nevertheless, he has not been approached by Warner about the part, Leaky Cauldron wrote a disclaimer about this yesterday. :(

I am so looking forward to the movie! One more day, yay! I think my favorite part of the second book is when Harry stays at the Weasley's. I hope the movie does that part well. I also can't wait till the fourth movie when the Weasley's use floo powder to get Harry from the Dursleys. I think that is my all time favorite HP moment.

I loved that part,;) who was seriously freaked out when the hand in the shop in knockturn alley, grabbed Harry? I was a little. :)

well, just saw this yesterday and have to say...so MUCH better than the original. a little overdrawn and some flat parts tho thankfully all too few of them. the animation was much better...as was the acting. a decent movie overall

Well, Ronin, you're one of the most critical members in here, and if even you liked it, I just can't wait!

and hey, looks like an estimated $81 million 3 day take for the wee wizard.

I know - it took loads just in the previews!
And Akiba - Christian Coulson is way gorgeous! And he is 24, so it is perfectly ok to fancy him...! Hehe!
I'm looking forward to seeing Bill too, but it will be ages before that film is out. The 3rd one isnt coming out till 2004 mecry because of the clash with the Matrix sequel and because they took so long to find new director.
The hand in the shop made me jump too, Little Devil! I should have known it would happen, but it wasnt in the books so i wasnt expecting it!
It is definitely a better film than the first - if they keep going like this, the 4th one will be perfect! that was my favourite of the books so it'd better be good...

Little Devil
November 17th,2002, 03:47 PM
Can't believe the third isn't coming out until 2004!! That's just wrong!!

November 18th,2002, 03:34 AM
It was almost 3 hours? I saw it last night it was good just not as good a I expected. The acting was waaayyyy better though and Ron was hilarious and Draco looks sooo cool!!!!!! he looked all littleish in the 1st one but now he's all taller with like white hair and he looks all evil it's cool. It is better than the first one the hand part made me jump too and christian coulson is gorgeous!! Hermione is prettier and I love how they did moaning myrtle the only problem was some parts thyy did not make them as exsciting as they were describe in the books but so much for expectations I think if I watch it a 2nd time I will love it if I don't already cuse that's hot it was with the first one I had to watch it twice before I liked it

I saw it today... forgive me LotR fans, I supported the competition! lol

I enjoyed it, actually, and thought it was better than the 1st one (even though for the most part it did seem to be more of the same!) My major complaint, actually, was the score - John Williams should be shot for coming up with that catchy, annoying, and often completely inapropriate theme! Ugh...

Ah well, I think everyone can guess what my favorite part was, and I'll give you a hint... it wasn't in the actual movie! :)

November 18th,2002, 10:42 AM
I took the girls to see it yesterday we all loved it. It's not as good as LOTR but then what is. Allowing for the fact it is essentially a children's film I wasn't bored and despite it's length there was no fidgeting from the little ones the whole way through, they were rapt.

The films are never going to be as good as the books, that would be expecting too much. Compared to the first film this one is way better

November 19th,2002, 12:46 AM
Glad y'all liked it. did u make sure to stay after the end credits? (i didn't blast it!! and i knew about it even....)

hey orky, completely agree...the Williams score was absolutely trash!! pfbbt

it was too long....but definitely, so much better than the first...thank goodness

Aranel
November 19th,2002, 10:55 AM
No, i didnt know about staying till the end of the credits till after i went, but i'm going again on wednesday!
I did stay long enough to notice they listed 3 (!!) Slytherin beaters though! Duh! And Ed Tudor-Pole was mentioned in credits even though Mr Borgin was cut from the film... hmm, methinks nobody checked for mistakes...!

Daughter of Finarfin
November 21st,2002, 07:37 AM
What was after the credits? Info on the next movie? Are they even filming it yet? I stayed for most of the credits, I wanted to see a little "In Rememberence of Richard Harris" but they didn't do it. I suppose they might not have had time to edit it on before the reels were shipped out, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

November 21st,2002, 05:51 PM
hope u enjoy Cuiel!!!

actually, thats one thing that disappointed me as well...not seeing anything with regards to the memory of Richard Harris...perhaps not feasible...but would've been nice to see.

ach, i'll have to try and find that snippet after the film somewhere on the net...don't particularly want to sit through it all over again ;) lol

Aranel
November 22nd,2002, 01:16 AM
The end snippet wasnt all that good, tho quite funny. It doesnt tell you anything about the future films or books at all.
I wanted there to be a dedication for Richard Harris too, but they probably didnt have time.

Ronin
November 27th,2002, 02:19 AM
End snippet was unfortunately over long...bloody cancellation of exams...i want that!! lol ;)
