Do you like that movie?

I like the movie. But they did not put ArchAngel in the movie. and Gambit too.!

I liked it, kinda cheesy in parts, but still good. I just wish they had made Storm less like a barbie when she was fighting with Toad. That made me mad. Hopefully the next one will be good.

I liked "X-Men" okay, yet here's hoping the sequel is better. Bryan Singer said he'd be introducing more characters, and letting Xavier's students who had only cameos is the first film, will have their characters focused on more strongly in the second. :)

If gambit is in it, I hope james marsters can be him

I think so

I can't wait for the sequel! I think the X-Men movie was much better than the Spiderman movie. They put a little tiny preview out a couple of months ago and it looked cool. I can't really remeber what was in it though, I'll have to find it again and watch it. They showed a lot of Gand---oops, I meant Magneto, and Captain Pi--- I mean Professor Xavier.

Lord Raistlin, are you a big Buffy fan or just a fan of James Marsters? I must say that I am as obsessed with Buffy (and James/Spike) as I am with LotR. If you ever want to talk Buffy you should just pm me.

Oh, and yes, JM would have been an awesome Gambit! Gambit's my favorite character in X-Men.

omg I love spike ok anyways think the movie was really bad it had no good action whatsover the only one that really did anything was wolverine omg no James won't be playng Gambit, but K. Reeves (matrix's Neo don't know how to spell his name) will. I think that's prety cool sine Iloved him as Neo andhopefully will look just as good as Gambit although he's kinda too scrawny and he doesn't have the acent so I really don't think he's all that ood for the part or I could be wrong maybe it won't be him but I'm never wrong. j/k what!!!!!???? Spiderman was 10x better than Xmen they didn't do anything in Xmen am sure th next one will be better though oh and Cyclops was hot! Ph33r my mad skillz!!!

The sequel to XMen is supposed to be out the first week of May 2003.

he is so cute!

October 19th,2002, 09:01 PM
i love JM. But british people don't walk around saying bloody hell and lovely all the time though. Still, the idea of JM as Gambit does have a lot of merit

Daughter of Finarfin
October 20th,2002, 06:09 AM
I read somewhere that they originally wanted Spike to be from New Orleans, but JM did a British accent and they liked it much better. Still funny, if he was Gambit and they had originally intended Spike to be Cajun.
His accent was a bit rough at first, but now he has perfected it. When they flashback to his human persona or he acts more like human William, he has more of an upper class London accent, but when he's Spike he has a lower class accent. It's amazing how he can do that!

Belaqua
October 20th,2002, 01:55 PM
We should probably start a JM or Buffy thread since this one is supposed to be about, y'know, X-Men?

For the X-Men fanatics...here is the pic of Nightcrawler (http://www.aint-it-cool.com/display.cgi?id=13428) .

I've heard that Nightcrawler will be one of the mutants featured in the X2 trailer due out with Harry Potter 2.

Also...check out EW's eclusive X2 pics (http://www.ew.com/ew/report/0,6115,365490~1~0~seeexclusiveadvancephotos,00.htm l) - especially the first one, Yuriko Oyama...the detail on the stingers protruding from her hands...how cool!

Ronin

hmmm...haven't heard yet who's playing gambit, if there is one.

Catz
October 24th,2002, 12:31 PM
hmmm i see theyve given Storm a new look.....hope they give her a bit more meat in this one....she was a bit of a wimp in the first one......hehehe and i reckon they should have gone with the mohawk and leather look from the comix....THAT would have been cool....but its great to see Yuriko is in.....as well as my fave blue, furry, prehensile tailed mutant lol lol
:catz:

Lord Raistlin

October 26th,2002, 05:32 PM
thanks Raistlin, didn't know that Gambit was firmed for X2...good deal!

by the way, here are some updated pics from CHUD of Xavier and Cyc....here (http://www.chud.com/news/oct02/oct25x.php3)
there was another pic of Nightcrawler around here somewhere, will try to find it.

ach yeah, Storm was a bit of a let down in the original...especially her to the truly kick *** persona in the comics. ah well, perhaps Berry'll give her some intensity this time around. lol...enough with this tail fetish! ;)
there is a definite progression with the costumes tho...much more layered and texture, the upclose shot of Cyc gives a great impression of that. btw, Sentinels in X2 and Beast in X3!!!!

Catz
October 26th,2002, 06:49 PM
oooooh yeah....cant wait to see Beast.....hope they keep the character true to the comic...such a cool character....hehehe and i like tails.....prehensile tails to be exact....hey, what can i say? :wicked: lol
:catz:

Ilmarë
October 26th,2002, 09:18 PM
Yeah... Halle Berry's Storm was a bit too... prissy... for my liking. I really hope they give her more to work with in X-2.

Ronin
October 27th,2002, 01:37 PM
aye....can't for the life of me figure out why u like tails so much...beyond me  lol
and quite....love the character of Beast...if only X3 could get here sooner!

and ach...i think they shall give storm more to work with...or if not, just some intensity!!!

Belaqua
October 27th,2002, 02:09 PM
i just watched x-men again and it was great. Especially wolverine. But Storm was kinda redundant. She does need more to work with. All she did was stand around and get the hell beaten out of her. Stupid Storm.

Ronin
October 27th,2002, 09:40 PM
loved Jackman in the original, really can't imagine anyone else occupying the role....tho, how it goes once we forever see a character portrayed on the big screen.

Catz
October 28th,2002, 07:57 AM
Jackman was great....just the right pyscho edge lol even if he is nipple challenged;)
yeah i wish theyd looked at the Storm from the comic....that is one kick butt character.....Berry could do with a little injection of that....and Hank McCoy AKA Beast...one of my fave X Men....yeah so i have a thing for blue furry mutants......so???:o roflmao
and really Ronin....why the tail thing?...use your imagination honey :elfeek: roflmao
:catz:

Ilmarë
October 28th,2002, 07:49 PM
 Hugh Jackman was fantastic as Wolverine... just the right mix of "psycho" and sensitivity. I thought the relationship between him and Rogue was handled pretty well... even if i'm not a fan of Anna Pacquin...

lol Dangerous territory... Ronin's imagination... ain't it hon?;) lol

Ronin
October 28th,2002, 10:54 PM
love Anna Pacquin actually...tho, perhaps its the brown hair that's blinding me ;)
and quite, Jackman was the utter greater mixing of both macho suave and psychotic ballistic....the kind of guy u'd like at ur wedding, making sure that pesky stalker doesn't show up lol

Beast....truly can't wait for that one....i think we have love for the blue furred one :)
lol....i swear, i never get any rest....hmmm....sure i could come up with something, to scare both of y'all to sunset :evilcool: lol

Catz
October 29th,2002, 12:05 AM
feel free to try hon...but you know me.....dont scare easily:p ;) lol
so ok, gambit and nightcrawler in the next one and beast in the third.....any other XMen due to show up?
God id love to see them do Angel!! (or Archangel as he became) but somehow i cant see it lol....i know iceman(bobby drake) features more in the next one.....
:catz:

Ilmarë
October 29th,2002, 08:30 AM
:elfeek: Scare me to sunset, eh?... U can try, honey... but youknow that's my favourite time of day.... when the fangs appear!:batty:
Really pleased about Gambit and Nightcrawler:thumbs:

Ronin
October 30th,2002, 02:27 AM
hmmmm...my work is obviously cut out for me! ;) lol
actually, seems like Gambit is the real fanboy surprise for X2....well, at least for now...no sneak peeks as yet. at least we can hope for a cajun accent yeah?

Catz
October 30th,2002, 04:25 AM
only if they get it right!!! could be quite scary if they dont :o lol....mmmm theres been lots of rumours but nothing much concrete......itll be interesting to see how they treat Gambit as a character...and wasnt Jubilee supposed to be making an appearance in one of the movies?
:catz:

Ronin
October 30th,2002, 02:41 PM
yeah, getting Gambit wrong could essentially run the movie for a lot of people...including me! but, they've done a wonderful job so far of transferring the characters of the comics to real life...with Storm being the only major gripe, so...perhaps we might just be in luck. And Jubilee...not sure, haven't heard anything about her being in X2...maybe X3 tho.

Catz
October 30th,2002, 03:03 PM
well...Storm i think was mainly a scripting problem in the first movie....hopefully shell get some decent lines in the second one, which would really help to develop the character...
:catz:

Ronin
October 30th,2002, 05:46 PM
Scripting and delivery, combination of both...some of which relegated from the other. if that makes any sense ;)
but, yeah...Berry does need something more to work with than had been given to her previously.

Belaqua
October 30th,2002, 06:28 PM
Shes supposed to have a bigger role this time around and become sort of a mother figure. Am really looking forward to seeing nightcrawler and gambit, though i would have liked the beast to have a larger role. Maybe in X3? Jubilee had a cameo part in the first film, but i missed it. I did catch quicksilver and some others though.

Ilmarë
October 30th,2002, 07:48 PM
Ok... the scripting for Storm wasn't great in the first movie... but, from an acting point of view.. I thought her delivery was weak... just NOT what i expected Storm to be... was SO disappointed. I really hope they get it right second time round.
lol :naughty: .. Hell yeah... Gambit had better have a Cajun accent...

Beleglotiel
October 31st,2002, 03:19 AM
You know it! Gambit is a great char, and if his part gets screwed up, FOX is going to be getting lots of unhappy fan mail.
Gambit is my all time FAV X-Man. I can tell you all of Gambit's history. I know pretty much all there is to know about X-Men. In X-Men 2, I've heard that Beast is going to be in it along with Sentinels and a scene in the danger room!

Belaqua
October 31st,2002, 11:31 PM
i heard that they might not put the danger room scene in x2, but i hope that they do. I'm really looking forward to seeing Gambit, and yes, he definately should have a cajun accent. Can't wait till next year when the film comes out. The sentinels sound good too. i just hope it doesn't take this long for x3 to come out. Its been what, 3 years now?

Adunauriel
October 31st,2002, 11:36 PM
It's been 2 I think, but close enough. I know the Video came out in 2000.

Beleglotiel

Next year? I better check my sources. My sources told me it was coming out this year...oh well.

Ronin
November 1st,2002, 05:37 PM
just for clarification y'all....X2 comes out next year, Beast will not be appearing, and yes, Sentinels will be in X2! and just hoping Gambit comes out all dandy ;)

and btw...wasn't Storm the motherly figure of the original movie to begin with?

Catz
November 1st,2002, 05:57 PM
mmm yeah thats what i thought...tho i wish Beast was in this one......but im just being greedylol
and yeah i guess Storm was....not sos youd have noticed tho....its a pity, but she really was a non entity in the first movie...hoping for better things.....;)
:catz:

Lord Raistlin
November 1st,2002, 05:59 PM
I am waitting for Gambit!!!! :)

Beleglotiel
November 1st,2002, 11:26 PM
Storm really wasn't portrayed in the movie at all like she is in the comic books or cartoon. They made her seem like a wuss and she is definetly not a wuss. A lot of people I heard were wanting the Hell Fire Club to be the villians and hopefully bring Phoenix into the movie.

Ilmarë
November 2nd,2002, 12:32 AM
 I cannot wait to see Alan Cumming's performance as Nightcrawler in X2... he's just brilliant!!!! Hmmm... still think Storm was a real disappointment in the original... maybe i'm just being too critical... looking at it from an acting tutor perspective... but Halle Berry was just way too 2 dimensional for me.

Beleglotiel
November 2nd,2002, 04:29 AM
Uh, prolly a stupid question but, who is Alan Cummings? Oh, Nightcrawler, sounds promising.

Belaqua

Its a pretty good for a Bond film. Mostly because of Sean Bean. In fact, just because of Sean Bean

Beleglotiel
November 3rd,2002, 08:29 PM
I'm a little farmiliar with the characters, who does Sean play?

Belaqua
November 3rd,2002, 08:32 PM
006 a.k.a Alec Trevelyan. He is a good guy at the start. But gets killed. Should i go on? I don't want to spoil the movie for anyone. Plus, this is the x-men thread, and i don't want to get yelled at for being off topic.

Beleglotiel
November 3rd,2002, 09:36 PM
Yep, I know who that is. My bro has played that game over and over.
And yeah I think we should start talking about X-Men again before they get on to us.

November 3rd,2002, 11:03 PM

Catz
November 4th,2002, 11:02 AM
Mystique is definitely in the second one, but is she confirmed for the third? shes a fabulous character....looooved what they did with her....changed from the comics but for the better...and i wanna see the sentinels....kick butt killer bots.....its just gotta be good:thumbs: lol
:catz:

Ronin
November 5th,2002, 03:15 AM
Stamos, who played Mystique, isn't confirmed for #3 so i wouldn't count her in...she apparently hated, absolutely hated the 4 hours of body work that had to be done. which...ya know...could get old after a while ;)

sentinels...we've been missed good killer robots

Togo Bleecker
November 5th,2002, 05:38 AM
i think the only thing that disapointed me (as well as with the harry potter movie) was they left my favorite character! I remember playing x-men when i was little with the kids in my block...i used to always be jubilee, the teenager (i dont know if you remember her), that always wore a yellow trench coat. My sister always was Storm. So naturally when i heard that a movie was coming up (well first i was THRILLED that patrick steward was Professor X) i was looking to see Jubilee and was disapointed when she wasnt there. But alas, my favorite characters always tend to be the minor ones (except in the case of frodo..and hes not my absolute favorite, i dont really have one of those)

Catz
November 5th,2002, 08:16 AM
mmmm well even tho i wish Mystique was in, i cant blame Rebecca Stamos for wanting to give it a miss...all those prosthetics would get very old very fast...they did a great job with it tho...even if the poor woman was freezing her rear off half the time, she looked fabulous
hehe and that usually happens to me Togo...but i love the Xmen, so no matter who they put in ill be happy.....and nitecrawlers in number 2 lol lol so im a happy kitty
:catz:

Adunauriel
November 5th,2002, 08:20 AM
My fave Character from the original would most definately be Wolverine. Hugh Jackman, is a total Hottie..... I also enjoyed Anna Paquin as Rogue, she did a great job. I enjoyed the movie all around, good performances from everybody.:)

Beleglotiel
November 5th,2002, 05:56 PM
Jubilee was in there a little bit, if you look close enough or if you have the DVD and watch the special features. Rogue is cool, too, but they really messed things up with making her like Bobby (Iceman), if Gambit is in the next movie, they are going to have to starighten that out. Not to mention they never put in the whole 'Mystique is her mother' thing. That is important, too.

Togo Bleecker
November 6th,2002, 02:51 AM
*-gasp-* she WAS in it?! wow now i have to go get the DVD just to see her..hehe thanks!

Yeah, Togo, she was barely in the movie, try looking really hard in the scene when Storm is teaching the class.
And no prob!

Belaqua
November 6th,2002, 11:39 PM
I wondered about the direction they were gonna take with rogue and Bobby. They should make her and Gambit a thing, not her and Bobby. Every time i watch it i miss the bit with Jubilee. Annoying...

Togo Bleecker
November 7th,2002, 11:37 PM
i will have to look harder

The whole Rogue/Wolverine relationship.... just didn't work for me. I didn't really feel the tie they supposedly had. Sorry!

Sheesh... always got to be contrary with me, don't ya!!pfbbt lol

Catz
November 8th,2002, 09:57 PM
i dont think that Rogue /Gambit would work given the character theyve established for Rogue, particularly if they stay close to the character of Gambit as he is in the comics....it would, as you say.....be "icky" lol
the relationship between her and Wolvie was quite believable i thought....a young girl that age is GONNA have a crush in the cute guy who helped her and saved her life...id be surprised if she didnt
i just hope they show Rogue as having matured a bit.....Paquin didnt get to do much except emote in the last one.....be nice to see her character stretched a bit
:catz:

Ronin
November 8th,2002, 11:35 PM
of course i do

Its true that, and i believe that paquin and Jackman definitely get some time to further their relationship..especially enabling Rogue to grow as a character. purported that they share a kiss.

and Gambit...lets see him as the lone gun in this one...as i said...anything else...ick lol

Catz
November 9th,2002, 12:46 AM
hmmm a kiss for Rogue.....isnt that a little......awkward??
yeah i think that they have kind of set up the dynamics already.....but you never know...
:catz:

Adunauriel
November 9th,2002, 12:57 AM
You never know is right. They could make it that she sees Gambit, and it's like "Wolverine who?" So you never know how they're going to do the Gambit/Rogue thing. I actually don't think it would come to a kiss between Rogue & Wolverine anyways. He's totally in love with Jean Grey...;)

Beleglotiel
November 9th,2002, 03:52 AM
They messed up with Rogue completely in the movie. I mean she didn't even fly or have super strenght like she was supposed to have obtained years ago when she was hanging with Mystique, Pyro, and company. Not to mention she never had the type of bond with Logan. So, I just hope they fix that big mess.

Ronin
November 9th,2002, 09:28 PM
Not as yet Ilm...Logan may have some eyes for Jean, but that heart ain't a poundin' just yet ;)

and i've seen "the kiss"

basically, i think the relationship between Rogue and Wolverine is just right...fits for the movie.

Ilmarë
November 9th,2002, 10:43 PM
 Sorry hon.. wasn't me posting. I don't think Logan is in love with Jean. There's a little.. frisson there.. but no pounding of the heart. :elfeek: Wow.. agreed with u again... this has got to stop;) lol
From what you've seen... does it crystalise the relationship any more? I guess i just thought that AP was very young looking... and Logan was more of a big brother to her. The thought of them kissing..... hmmm. Don't know about that.:mmmm:

Well maybe in the movie they didn't really bring up the feelings Logan had for Jean, but in the Cartoon he really likes her. The movie kept it toned down more.:)

I dunno, he's just not what I pictured Nightcrawler to be in that movie. Well, I really don't know what Alan Cummings looks like so I can't say if he's ugly or cute.

i have no objection to the stockings and heels as long as the legs are up to it ;)....the tutu however bothers me slightly.... ;) lol
i want to see how they do his stunts....nightcrawler is after all an acrobat, so his stunt work should be spectacular, going on what they did in the first movie

 the tutu would bother anyone in their right mind... as would the other accoutriments... but then... who in here is sane?;) lol lol
I really hope Alan Cumming can pull this off. He's so good...started off in Scottish tv... and has worked hard to get to where he is... really deserves this.

the Dec edition of SFX has Beast Jubilee and Colossus in the movie too....Beast with a short appearance as a TV interviewee
it also suggests that the take on NightCrawler is very true to the comics:thumbs:

can't wait to see what they do with Cumming's tale whilst he dances in the air...could make or break the realism of the action of X2.

for the main villian...looks like it'll be more of a combination of mutant and man...obviously Ian McKellen as Magneto but looks like we will see the true beginning of the Man vs Mutant conflict...with Brian Cox (love him!!) as General Stryker.

Beastee  thats brilliant!! :)

*laughs, wigglin' just a bit*...saunter...sashay...no matter...still lookin' dern good ;) lol

Well yes I thought FOTR was better than Xmen (& I've seen both). Infact, I personally thinks its better than most I've seen. (I haven't quite worked out where FOTR stands yet in my all time list- somewhere v. high). I couldn't go for "I will Never see it. LOTR is better than that movie " becuase how do you know that without seeing it?
X-men was just simply heaps of fun. A well done movie. Nothing brilliant, not strongly emotive but just a fun ride. In the sprit of a cartoon. Personally I liked it better than Spiderman (I thought that was okay but I don't quite understand all the hype for it earlier in the year?)
Just hope they don't stuff up Jean Grey/Cyclops thing. I thought it would've been cool if they'd kept close ot the cartoon in this one and at the end of this one have Jean do the "save-everyone-else-and-pilot-the-ship-and -let-them-all-think-she's-died-saving-them" but really have her body taken over by The Pheonix and then make the subject of the story in X3. SO at the end of X2 they could've thought they'd lost a close colleague/fiance and then in X3 they'd be going up against them. I thought that would've been great.

ach, i really dig Nightcrawler, apart from the too-human eyes...the skin looks fantastic, as does the teeth...even a little too white. i think, for all intents and purposes...Nightcrawler will redeem himself with the in-house action...the tail should be spectacular.

hmmm...Iar, agree that the Phoenix should feature eventually...but then, i think it might surface in X3 and finish off the trilogy. would be a great cataclysmic finish...diefied enough to ensure that everything will be...ok. and no worries...we may just see it!! ;)

i think crawler looks great.........a little menacing and kinda cute......just like he should........with the eye thing i can see why theyve gone for the look they have tho.......hard enough to signal emotions with all that prosthetic on without having no iris to the eye to signal the direction of a look.........i think its a sound decision tho i would have liked to have seen the solid yellow eyes too.........the ones theyve gone fot look quite good tho........

Just been reading more about X-2. Due out on May 2nd next year.Nightcrawler will have yellow eyes... tho not solid yellow.... and Wolverine and Jean Grey DO snog!!!!! Wolvie is much more... well.. Wolvie in this... there is a body count... and Gambit and Beast will have very brief cameos.

Beleglotiel
November 30th,2002, 01:46 AM
BRIEF!!!!!? This is an outrage!!!! Gambit and Beast are great characters!! Gambit is Rogue's guy and so why does he have a short crummy part!!!? errrrrrr!

Ilmarë
November 30th,2002, 12:26 PM
Empire magazine had a piece on X-2... and said of Beast and Gambit...
"The two fanboy faves might appear in a sequence showing Cerebro's effects on the mutant world. If time allows, we'll see Dr. Hank McCoy mutate into the blue, agile, furry beast while shady theif Gambit will be seen in a New Orleans bar, exploding a pack of cards into flames."

I liked it, it was very intresting with good efects... but something was missing.. I don't know what but it was good movie. I like music of this film, most of all... And Anna Paquin wad best in her roll but I liked sir Ian McKellen in his roll too

Beleglotiel

I liked how Hugh Jackman played his role. He was at the top of my hottie list back then (but that was before I knew about Orli ;) )

Ronin
January 9th,2003, 11:04 PM
I really did not dig at all the score for the first movie, just seemed somewhat lifeless...but i'll try and put it on later tonight to see what i really think, its been a while.

hmmmm...for some reason, Jackman's not on my hottie list, for some reason....

Adunauriel
January 9th,2003, 11:28 PM
Well, I should hope it's because your a guy....;) lol I've got him on mine. He's not as high-up as he once was. He's been pushed down by other hotties such as Orlando...;) :)
