Authors Note: This is a revised version of Walter de la Mare's poem "Silver"
Silver
Slowly, silently now the elves,
Walk the night under the silver moon.
This way and that, they peer and see
Silver fruit on silver trees.
One by one the dew drops catch,
The moon beams beneath the silvery thatch.
Still beneath the silvery trees, peaceful and silent,
Rests a silver flower, tinged with violet.
From their shadowy cote, the silver breasts
Of silver doves quiver in a silver-feathered sleep;
A silver deer slips quietly by,
With silver hooves, and a silver eye;
And silver elves, by the waters sing,
By silver reeds in a silver stream.
