oh wow... im going to ask my parents to get me the chess set for christmas... not that they will or anything :rolleyes:

Try asking them to get it as a joint birthday and christmas present. That's what my parents did when I wanted something too expensive for the one occasion. Alternatively ask everyone to give you money and add it to what you parents want to give you. I know it means only getting one present but if you really want something it's worth it.
