On the main page, in the news down quite a bit from the top, Illuvatar posted an article called "Awsome Towers!" (BTW, Illu, this is spelled wrong  ) where he tells us about an interview with PJ on TTT... and gives a link to TORC.

In the interview, many paragraphs down, PJ is talking about the new CGI creatures... the paragraph starts talking about Treebeard but goes on to talk about the steeds of the Nazgūl:

"We briefly see the Nazgūl, which are these giant, winged dragonlike creatures that the Ringwraiths ride..."

So is it just me that is really mad/confused at this statement?? Hello... the Nazgūl are suddenly steeds ridden by the Ringwraiths???

For those of you who don't know, "Nazgūl" is the Black Speech word for "Ringwraith." Their steeds aren't called anything specific. verymadverymadverymad Why did PJ say something so wrong and stupid?? I thought he would have to know the books really well to make such a great movie about them... :(

I would say it is just the interviewer, but that this statement is in quotes-- it came directly from PJ. :(:(:(

ARGH!! I'm beginning to have serious doubts about TTT now... what with Ashley's thread about the changed attitudes and this evidence of ignorance on PJ's part... I'm very scared! mecry

Hmmm... seems like he mispoke is all. :jester: It happens to even the best of us.

"They were once men. Great kings of men, but Sauron the Deceiver gave them nine rings of power, and, blinded by their greed, they took them without question, one by one falling into darkness. Now they are slaves to his will. They are the Nazgul, Ringwraiths, neither living nor dead." ;) So he knows better.

If all the brains working at NASA and JPL could build an launch a magnificent spacecraft towards Mars and then crash it because they couldn't perform a simple conversion from English to Metric any schoolboy could do, doesn't mean the end of the Space Program - just mean our brainy boys and girls need more sleep.

I've got to go with Hans on this one. A little mistake, all the book info can get pretty complicated....... ( or is it only me...?)

Actually, I'm more excited to hear that we'll see them!!!!! Hurrah! Winged steeds!

I agree with Tar...i saw this interview somewhere...had to look twice to see PJ's mistake...hmm...but yes, Hans has a point, though I must say I'm terrible at changing English to Metric and vice versa. lol

Sorry to worry you, twin! *hug* But YES! "Hurrah!" the Fell Beasts are seen! (hmm...I'm guessing we'll be seeing that one going to a certain fortified fortress-turned-lake!) heehee

roflmao trying to avoid spoilers, ash?? thats halarious...

ok guys, sorry to get you riled, but this stinks! even if he did make that mistake, its a stupid mistake for anyone to make who has read the books as often as he claims to :(

Yeah, well, that's exactly the point people have made earlier on: everyone makes stupid mistakes.

And I agree with Hans - I think he's demostrated well enough that he knows what a Nazgul really is. :)

i make mistakes like that all the time.....sometimes i don't have a clue what i'm talking about but most of the time i do and i just say something wrong...its only one line and compared to fotr it doesn't mean anything.

Tar-Ancalimė have you thought about the fact he could have easily made the mistake because of the number of interviews he had to do in the one day. I've heard the hire the floor of a hotel, have a different person in each and then herd the interviewees into each room for only so lomg before on to the next. This process could easily muddle the most oredered mind there is and lets face it the press would take great delight in printing thesse mistake to make them look stupid. Not the press that is. I hope that made sense?
