If you think that curly hair, stunning bravery, and an exceptional appetite make up your dream man (or woman) then you're a hobbit fan just like me, so let's post about 'em, shall we?

My fave hobbits are Frodo and Sam. I know they're not half as hilarious as Peregrin and Meriadoc, but I love that they are loyal to each other and willing to die to save each others' lives. The fact that Frodo is the cutest hobbit in the fellowship (IMHO) is also a big plus! :)

Well, first of all, lets face it...Dom is soooo much fitter than Billy! Plus, merry is quite a strong character (the whole battle on the fields of pelennor thing) whereas pippin doesn't really do much cept mope around in gondor...

oh my god, thats sooo cute. This is just my opinion but i think that billy boyd looks like a politician. Merry is much cuter but pippin has a cute accent. I think that in the film they did those 2 quite well because they had pippin as the comedy and merry was like, his partner in crime i guess. it just worked really well

Pil! You are not alone! The first time I saw the film I was rather distracted by Merry's ahem*ugliness*ahem, but the second time I watched I was taken by that line and a few others. Pippin's accent can be a bit...overpowering... people only remember him as 'the scottish one'. With merry, there's more to the character than the accent. Mind you, if someone doesn't know who he is, i refer to him as 'the one who ISN'T frodo, frodo's friend or scottish one'! lol Poor merry! mecry

It does make his lines more comical though! Aw! I hope he can drop it a TAD when it gets to scenes in ROTK with Denethor. I can't imagine the current pippin swearing his service to gondor with his sword...sweet! :wiggle:

Mind you, all our characters will come on a long way over the next book and it will be interesting to see how the actors are able to make that difference noticeably. They will have to remember all the things that their character has experienced and how that would affect how they act at that time. I like the bit in the beginning of ROTK when pippin is telling beregond about what he has done and beregond tells him about minas morgul and pippin gets all scared about the black riders.... *pil runs off to cry in a corner alone* mecry :dragon:

I personally like Sam better in the Book because he seems more reliable and careful. In the book they give sam alot more detail. The Movie doesnt quite give sam enough credit, because the movie skipped almost every part where sam was being brave and cautious and all the times he stood up for Frodo. I began reading FOTR 2 days ago (almost done) and I noticed a lot more about sam than the first time I read it. He's quite the friend :) awwww :loveyou: Its sooooo sweet how important Frodo is to him.

I think he was ignored in the movie a little bit, I meant that I liked the way Sean Astin portrayed him, he stays true to the character, but tones him down the right amount.

OK im definitely obsessed with Hobbits....i cant really decide who is my favorite....it either Frodo or Merry i think....but then Pippin and Sam are good choices also!! I CANT DECIDE! so... i just love Pippin! Watching the FotR just made me like him even more - he's so funny! The accent just wonderfully adds to it... especially with the "second breakfast" thing and then the faces he makes are so funny! (back to the second breakfast) someone throws some fruit down to him and then the second one hits him in the head - he was looking up into the air like 'it's raining food! any more?' lol
then the Mines of Moria scene when he knocks the skeleton into the well... as they hear it crashing Pippin is cringing with every bang, waiting for Gandalf to yell at him any minute. "Fool of a Took!" (just love that part!) roflmao

It's so hard to say who really is my favorite character because i really love all the Hobbits. Frodo, Sam, and Pippin are my favorites though in their own way (i've already mentioned why i like Pip) and could go on and on about each one :loveyou:

as for the DVD... nope, only VHS :( but there is good news! just this morning i was saying how i wanted a DVD player, then my grandmother shows up just a few hours ago and says she never uses our PS2 (which i'm sure everyone knows plays DVDs) and wanted to know if we wanted to swap our PS1 with her PS2! so this sunday i get it! :whoohoo:
but i still can't imagine my grandmother playing video games instead of watching DVDs, but hey, i get a DVD player!!! :hooray:

Did anyone here hear about Dominic, Elijah, and Billy at Comic-con in Los Angeles? (They looked good!)

Dominic had an absolutely hilarious little speech... and kissed a cardboard cut-out of Elijah. Quite entertaing!

He mentioned a scene that was cut out of the film but I think should be on the extended DVD in November. Legolas is talking about lembas, saying, "One small bit can feed a man for four days." Merry asks Pippin how many he ate, to which he responds, "Five!" I can just imagine Pip saying that in that darling way he has.... Come NOW, November!

You're going to the Toronto Film Festival??? Lucky you! Elijah Wood has a movie being shown there as well, Try Seventeen its called. I don't know if you could stomach a movie with Mandy Moore in it, though.......... she doesn't bother me but a lot of people don't like her.

Billy has a film with Russel Crowe being made...... he apparently has a fairly large part as he was credited third in the article I saw. He also has a short film, and a Scottish TV series coming out. He's been busy!!!

I LOVE Billy's accent! The Scottish accent is really easy on the ears. That's one of the main reasons I travelled to the UK so much! Love those accents. . .:naughty:

Completely agree on silly idea of age difference. Friend wants to set me up with 24 year old (1 year my jr). His name's Matt, apparently, and he's, according to my friend, straight, tall, gorgeous, and funny as hell. Never dated a younger guy before. This should be interesting. There's also another guy I'm interested in who's 35, but don't know how interested he is in me....Tricky. Very tricky....
