Ahhh yesss.....

Being an ex DJ....I have defo thoughts on these folks....:naughty:

U2 ....loved them during the "Live at Red Rocks" and the War album times.....but hate the fact that they went commercial!!

I really hate it when a band starts out with a vibe or specific sound, and then go and get all "heady" and intellectual on you and loose thier sound.

Guns....loved the Lies album......I met Izzy Stradlen...Great kid...met Axel.....a real bonified conceited JERK!!!!!

Izzy came into the club with the attitude of "whoo hoo! I'm in Guns n' Roses"...Axel came in with the attitude of "I AM Guns n' Roses"!! pfbbt

Don't like mean/rude people......

Just my optinion, mind you......

Guns n Roses - never liked them. Only few songs
Axel is not the type of singing i like

U2 - thier older albums were really good. One of my all time fav albums is "Joshua Tree".
Newer albums like "pop" and all the commercial stuff released after really made me change my oppinion of u2 in a negative way.

WEll i don't know maybe bands need a change and develop thier sound. They want to grow and explore new horizons. The fans never like that though.
For example one of my fav bands is Paradise LOst [from england]
they used to play gothic/death metal in the early 90's and thier albums were milestones in that genre but today they play something like gothic/electro/rock .

Bands eh?...well... love U2, tho maybe not the recent stuff so much. Really loved "War", "The Unforgettable Fire" and "Achtung Baby" G+R...I bought "Appetite..." then that was it.

There are a lot of excellent younger bands out there atm...like Puddle Of Mudd, Hoobastank, Nickelback, Static X, Linkin Park, Inme, Foo Fighters, Disturbed, as well as the more established ones.

Actually, my tastes cover all sorts of music, classical right through.

U2's former image bugged me for some reason... the new one is a comercial band, not that bad for one

I have some fave songs from Guns n' Roses, but I never actually listened to their albums so I can't say anything particular

seems like you like all those new comercial neometal bands [st X, L.p] which are all the same to me, Nothing good in their music.
I have both S X albums and i must admit they sound quite pleasing but that's not the type of music which lasts. Especially in that genre. You headbang to it for a week maximum than you trash it.
Disturbed an established band ?
Wwwwooow ! how can you say that! Just cos they are pop. In the USA doesn’t mean that the whole world appreciates their work! They Suck big time !
You must have been sleepy when you wrote that.
Also seems like you are fond of those sissy new soft rock bands which are trying to resurrect the " old Seatle" alternative sound- But they simply cant do that cos they lack the knowledge and talent unfortunately.
There's nothing good in Nickelback for example, but people like them.....??????............why? When it comes to music a lot of people start listening to the first thing they lay their hands on or just turn on the worst music chanel and get the album of the first band which soundsa little different than the others.

?? ?? ??
I like Foo Fighters [ but I think they are not that good any more].
Haven’t heard of Imne and Hoobastank.

If I’ve been offensive in some way pls accept my apologies. I didn’t mean to be rude, though I think I was…. Well sorry that’s just how I feel .

I don't really like nu-metal(bands like limp bizkit and papa roach etc.) but for some reason i like linken park.

loads of people are like, but they're a manufactured band and therefore you musn't ike them but I don't actually care how the band formed or whether they play their own instruments etc. I only care that i like the songs if you see what i mean. (you probably don't...)

I like songs that sound good to me and usually they aren't liked by the general audience even what to say them staying in the history of music (I had a cat once... the animal was more musical than me for sure ;) )

Wintersoul...your comments were pretty offensive....but i put that down to youth. Me, and anyone else who comes in here, are perfectly entitled to come in and state their tastes...discuss them even...but not expect to have their opinion ripped apart.

Personally...i don't really care what anyone thinks of my taste...in anything...but maybe next time...you should really think before just verbally bashing anyone else's opinion..

Actually I get offended almost everytime I come here but I just let it go. But I guess it was unnecessary...

Wintersoul... I like Nickelback too, but what exactly do YOU like?
Instead of saying what you dont like, tell us what you do? What genre of music are you most interested in... I like classical the most, but I dont get to hear it too much.. its hard to find good classical music... what about you?

A! Elbereth you asked me what music do i like.
Here's my answer:
I like classical music[ I didn’t understand you .what do you mean its hard to find
Good classical music?]
I like Beethoven, Bach, Schubert, Mozart, Brahms, Vivaldi, Chopin and many more……
But I also like metal music.
My preferences are in the Christian gothic genre mostly but I like as well death and black metal [though I don’t like the concepts of those genres and the satanic beliefs of some bands playing that music].
Also doom/death, dark, speed/power, black/gothic, death/gothic, melodic death, melodic black, heavy, epic etc;
Also I like pure goa music though I don’t have any
Those are only some of the types of music I like ……….of course that does not mean that I like all bands, which play that music …
Especially in metal music there’s a lots of different groups , but the worthy ones are very little[compared to the number of metal formations worldwide] . talking about the genres i mentioned..

i won't be able to answer your replies for i will be away for a while but i will reply whenever i get a chance

take care !

I like to see someone with a WIDE range of tastes. It makes me...well...peeved, shall we say...when people live their life under one type of music. :)

I trained in classical ballet for years, and by the time I was a senior in high school, I had a mowhawk and 18-hole Docs.....I don't think there's any type of music that I've come across that I haven't been able to find something about it that I like....even though I might not embrace the entire genre, there's always one or two artists in any category that stand out to me.....I can't stand Eminem, for instance, but going "back in the day" Eazy-E rocked.....Reba McEntire is not my cup of tea, but Shania Twain (anything from her first two records) has a great voice....of course, her style reminds me of Patsy Cline, one of my idols, along with Judy Garland....and Sarah Vaughn and Helen Hayes (jazz and Big Band singers from the 40's)....I sit glued to the radio when KROQ does a flashback weekend, 'cuase there's almost nothing from the time of "80's New Wave" that I don't like, including its dark sister, Gothic/Darkwave.....Loreena McKennitt sings like an absolute Goddess, and my 3-year old daughter loves to dance to Celtic music....I've seen Metallica 3 times, but lost interest in anything that came after "Load"......Van Halen or Bad Company will almost always catch my interest on a "Classic Rock" station.....there's nothing like watching the sun go down on a summer night, cool glass of iced tea in one hand, clove cig in the other, Bob Marley in the background ("One love......)....I've taken my mother to see the Little River Band (we had a BLAST) and I mourned the passing of the Oingo Boingo Halloween show....I know the words to "El Paso" as sung by Marty Robbins.... "My Girl" was my favorite lullaby to sing to my daughter when her body fit inside my arms, or was is "Jamaica Farewell" by Harry Belafonte (another fantastic night for me and my mum)....I don't know if anyone else has ever heard of Andreas Vollenweider, but he plays harp (and a dozen other instruments) so magically that I'm sure he could stop a charging Uruk-hai in its tracks.....this is just a small sampling, and I've left things out, but I've always found that there is a tune to match my frame of mind at any given time....provided I have the patience to sort through the collection to find it!

WinterSoul
July 10th,2002, 01:52 PM
i like sex pistols

music is very important to me, and i even make some when i can .....i sing :)
normal singing and some low pitch opera singing. >>>not proffesional to mention.
also trying with higher octaves .....
i like experimenting with my voice and checking what it can do and to tell ya something guys ....practice can do a lot of things :)
have been thinking about a band...but that won't happen soon for fist i want to complete my education ...
also interested in lots of instuments.....not playing any yet though

STARTING AN INSTRUMENT IS THE COOLEST! I started the clarinet ages ago and i've made loads of friends (and fit guys friends!) in orchestras and at festivals! It can open a lot of doors!

Mr Copas is my clarinet teacher, the weirdest guy i have EVER met!!!!!!!!!! :o

He NEVER ACTUALLY teaches me clarinet, talking topics have been:

1. Nailvarnish, how to get it JUST RIGHT!
2. High heels, how to walk properly in them!
3. His NUMEROUS italian classes!
4. HOW TO MAKE PASTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup...all in a half an hour clarinet lesson!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOO! :elfeek: lol roflmao

Bonos-Girl
July 11th,2002, 12:40 PM

Pil
July 11th,2002, 01:17 PM
The worst thing is...he at least used to LOOK harmless...u know, boring suit, tie everyday...that sort of thing. NOW we see the new and improved Mr Copas (and fatter i may add) sporting leather jackets and the like. Some people look good in leather, but not him! lol :elfeek: roflmao :p

Bonos-Girl

Did anyone else like the inclusion of 'in the name of love' in moulin rouge? I know this could be put on the moulin rouge thread but this thread's about U2 among other things...and the question's really more music based... :p :) ;)
