I love this game better than FOTR. It uses parts of both movies to play you through the levels and you can be even be Isildur in the Last stand against Sauron. There are parts of the TT that no one has even seen before! I am best with Leggy who is an all around guy with flaming arrows. I have to say my fav level in the Rauos Falls. I beat the game in 24 hrs also. Anyone else get it?

The FOTR game is based on the book and is really more a learning game than fighting. I didn't enjoy it as much.

You beat the TT game in less than 24 hours? Is it worth buying then, or is it more of a rent-it game? I don't want to spend $50 on a game unless it's really cool and has a good replay value.
And what about the FotR game?
(Both for PS2)

The real challenge is beating it with every charecter with a perfect rating to unlock the secret Orthac level where you battle thru 20 stages of enemies. Plus you can unlock interviews with the stars.
FOTR is more of an adventure game and has less fighting and more puzzle solving. This game is realy a buying game so ou can take the time and get a guide book too, Moria is a very hard part.

I haven't bought this game yet(this weekend perhaps)...but my understanding is that if you are an Intermediate to hard-core gamer, you might want to rent the game because it was said that the game is fairly short and probably too easy(?!) compared to other games of this genre.
But ! If you are like me (beginner, novice, etc.), you may plan on purchasing it like I am...and plus they have hidden/secret footage of TTT !!! what more do you want??? :naughty:
BTW... the graphics look awesome and it has the same actors voice from the film!!
PS: A PC version is very unlikely to happen based on what I heard...

The best part of the new footage is seeing Theoden charging the orcs out of the Hall.

Hmm.....what to do, what to do! I'll probably have to just buy them both, since they are LotR games. ;)

I'm a long time gamer (D&D and then AD&D and then added computer games like Baldur's Gate and Daggerfall), and it's getting to the point where my Pentium III 450 MGHZ can't play the newest games like Morrowind, so I broke down and bought a PS2 to play TTT on and I'm not sorry. I've been able to get all three main characters to Orthanc - and once you get the first one there, you can play any character, any mission fo the game (including Isildur) - so it's even more fun.
Once you reach the secret code level, you can have fun and play the game in slow motion, or change all the enemies to little guys - though they still have big weapons.
I've managed to even get a few "Perfect" games - including the Hornburg Courtyard with Legolas (my favorite, though he's not as strong as Aragorn and doesn't have as many hit points as Isildur).
The toughest for me was Gimli. He's just SO slow throwing axes.
Even though it doesn't take terribly long playing through the game, it's fun to go back and try to perfect the missions.
I still can't barely get a 'good' on the Wolves of Isengard. That's the toughest one for me.

Yeah I hate playing Gimli.

I'm completely stuck on Amon Hen. I get to the bridge and then I can't figure out where I'm supposed to go for some reason. I don't know how many times I've watched Lurtz walk off with poor Frodo. :(

You fight all the people and kill them. Then Aragon will shoot a arrow killing the orcs after Frodo. When you meet Lurtz to do battle hide behind the statues after he pulls out his sword. When he swings he'll get the balde stuck in the statue, do you fierce attack on him and repeat til he's dead.

I answered this in another thread - but since it belongs here...
make sure to watch the orc-meter at the top right of the screen. You have to get the number to zero before you can beat the bridge.

Hello... I'm the new Gaming Editor here at www.warofthering.net. First off i'd like to point out i have reviewed all the released games. Each has a detailed summary grades an overall score... and a True To Tolkien score. Here's the links:
PS2/PC Fellowship of The Ring, By Vivendi Universal (http://warofthering.net/gaming/pcconsole/universalfotrpc.shtml)

PS2 The Two Towers, By EA (coming to X-Box x-mas) (http://warofthering.net/gaming/pcconsole/ttteaps2.shtml)

Well when Aragon, Gimli, and Legolas meet up right before Gandlaf the white appears to them there is a ent standing in the trees but you have to look for it.

Does anyone have any tips for the level Helm's Deep: Hornburg Courtyard? I've tried about 10 times so far, but I still can't protect the big gate before it's completely knocked down.

You must keep at it. Use the analog button with your right thumb to pull of combos. When the archers start shooting at the wall with fire arrows go up and shoot them down. Then hurry back. Keep the Orcs off the gate and you will eventually see a video with 2 Trolls comming over to break it. You must kill both of them, one of them falls and breaks the wall and you retreat for now into the caves and halls.

Ah, I got it with Aragorn! Along with some major hand cramps. Now I have to try it with Legolas and Gimli.

Legolas will be easy but i haven't beat it with Master dwarf yet.

December 8th,2002, 05:03 AM
I've done it with all three characters and Gimli is the hardest, but it's surely possible. When they're down at the gate, focus on keeping the enemy away from the gate, don't get lured away until it's suggested by the game (save Aragorn or Legolas and throw missles at archers).

I heard that there will be versions of this game coming out for Gamecube and XBox.

Maybe so. I just buy what the first version I see is. I have PS2 and Xbox so I can attack the games at each side! It seems the movie games slowly come out on all the systems, i.e. Spiderman.

I'm getting it after christmas, tell me, is the Weathertop level as hard as everyone says it is?
Narsil's weilder
December 24th,2002, 05:40 PM
No Sauron. When you fight the wraiths remeber to hit the campfire once and a while to re-light your torch. If you hit a wraith enough times with an open flame it will set on fire and run away.

How do you beat the forest troll? I've tried with everyone at least 3 times. I know its weakness is fire but at this stage, nobody has a fire weapon...

It's hardest with Legolas. Use Aragon and strike him between the legs and keep going!

Depends if you are a gammer. I beat it in 2 days with just one charecter. Plus you can set the level of difficulty.

I really enjoyed the game, especially the movie footage they showed. I found it somewhat difficult as soon as I reached Balin's tomb, so I switched it to easy there. I've read that some people have trouble beating trolls. My best advice on that is to hit him with the triangle button and then hit L2 to jump back. Also, play as Aragorn-he's the best at long and short range fighting.

Yes. What are your favorite levels? Mine is probably The last Helm's Deep level.
Bena
December 31st,2002, 12:42 AM
I love that level-although it was really depressing if you died in any part of Helm's Deep. Seeing Legolas and Gimli perish was very disturbing. mecry Once I figured out how to beat it though, I really enjoyed it. Wasn't it cool how they had the last scene of the film in there? Too bad they didn't play the same music though. I liked that dialogue they had between Aragorn and Gandalf that wasn't in the film. That extra level with Aragorn was crazy. I was playing and a few friends were watching and said "Wouldn't it be bad if you had a floor of trolls?" Just then I got to a level with three trolls, and fire-arrow shooting orcs. I didn't like that floor!pfbbt

Yes it is sad if you die at Helm's Deep. You think that the battle in the books and movie is so cool until you live it and have to play it. ;)

Too true, too true.
I don't know if you can do this, but I was just wondering if it's possible. I saw in one of those video things about the making of the game Aragorn using the knife Celeborn gives him. Does anybody know how to use that knife or was it cut from the game?
