Anyone know the film length of The Two Towers? i heard that the fellowhip was going to be the longest, but i want the next two films to be as long as possible cause i cannot get enough of LOTR (are there any help clinics for this kind of thing?). Do you think PJ will do Special Editions of the next two films? I sooo hope he add 30 mins onto the next two he is doing with FOTR.

I don't know the exact length of TTT. Although the battle of Helm's Deep's going to be an un-interrupted 45 minutes, so the film has to most likely be over 3 hours in length.
As for a TTT and ROTK special edition DVD, there most likely will be ones. They would be nice additions to the FOTR Sp.Ed. DVD.

Ain't it Cool News says 3hr 15min (quite some time ago, though)
TORN says 195 mins... same thing I guess ;)
TORN says Helm's Deep is 50 min.
I have definately read somewhere that TTT will have a Special Edition, as well as RotK. I don't remember where, though, maybe I'll go searching around, see if I can find it :)

Helms deep will be 15 minutes so I'd expect the film to be nearly 3 hours, like fellowship. I really hope that ROTK is the longest

I've heard that the final cut is around 2 hours, 45 minutes.

2 hours and 45 minutes? Is that accurate? I thought TTT was going to be longer than that. Personally, I hope it is.

I don't think so myself. Everything I've heard is, about the same as FotR. As for Helm's Deep... did you really mean 15 min, Ring Bearer? I expect at least 30

2 hours 45 minutes is still a lot longer than most feature films. And remember, TTT is a much skinnier book than Fellowship!

oh yeah, it is, but Helm's Deep is what, five, maybe seven pages long? They are expanding that a whole ton in the movie. That's pretty evident from all the trailers... especially this last one on this site ;) plus they are giving Frodo Sam and Gollum a LOT more interaction...
anyway, there's only a 30 min difference between our estimates ;) It's not really that big lol almost the same thing

im glad that they are expanding helms deep, (i heard it was about 45 mins), but it gives us a chance to see all our fave characters in action. plus with all the special effects im sure we wont be disapointed. Especially with these rumours going around about seeing the ents storm isengard, not a day goes by without thinking about this film. Please let these rumours be true

I asked New Line today what the final length is. They were cagey but said under 3 hours.

I was told by a reputable source that New Line used FoTR as a gauge to see how long the general public, not fans, would sit through a fantasy film. Due to its success they decided to make TTT at least as long as FoTR....but if Newline say less than 3 hours it doesnt look likely that we'll get a longer film :(

Indeed, it won't be longer as it would reduce the number of screenings per day and thus kill revenue.
But we know there is a extended version which wil comeout this time next year. So fear not :-)

If the helms deep is only 15 minutes then i must say im a bit dissapointed. But on the other hand, i would deffo not want to see 45 minutes from the helms. That is just a bit too much i think. I read an interwiev a few days ago, cant remember where, but new line told the final cut of the movie would be just a bit under 3 hours, which is still LONG. And we will of course get the extended verision too :), so fear not!

does this mean we will have 11 and a half hours of lord of the rings at the end, with all 3 special editions? thats a wole days worth of film watching. Would it make us go insane??

Insane? Absolutely not! I am already insane from staring at my Frodo picture by my computer for hours on end... Muahahha!!! :flamer:

Didn't you know we're all a little crazy so watching a whole day of our favourite topic is not going to make much difference is it?

I just hope it's at least over 3 hours. FOTR didn't quite get there, so since this book is bigger, the film should definatly be longer :)

Huh? Last I checked Two Towers was much smaller than FotR....

Well final word I have is very very short of 3 hours. I cannot be more specific as said I would not be. :-)

That 195 minutes cut torn spoke of might be the total film lenght. But the final cut they'll show on the cinema will be as fatty said, just below 3 hours. 50 hours from helms? damn, that's a bit too much i think! there are other things that i want to see too. 30 minutes, no more i'd give helms.

The last I heard on Helms it was around 30 minutes, and intercut with Frodo, Sam, and Gollum scenes. I dunno if that's 30 minutes total, or 30 minutes if you compressed Helm's Deep.
But that was straight from an interview with PJ himself, who said that the 45 minute rumor was just started by someone wanting his 15 minutes of fame on the Internet. :)
