Alright, just saw Punch-Drunk Love (PDL) this past Friday and wanted to pass along the word...that if y'all have the opportunity to see it, don't miss this wonderful film!!
PDL stars Adam Sandler (i know) and Emily Watson, who is absolutley amazing in this. Sandler plays the character we've seen in his slapstick comedies, the misunderstood gent who just can't do anything right. however, Sandler adds a level of horrifying reality to the character...giving him some deep psychological problems...but, honestly, its engaging to see that depth and how Sandler embraces it completely.
Watson and Sandler are electric together, and the love they find in each other is richly satisfying. i love PT Anderson, so perhaps i'm biased...but this film is about falling in love, it is falling in love. if u have ever fallen in love, are in love, or looking for love...u'll leave this movie with a permanent smile on ur face...for this explores all the tumultuous dealings that love brings us.
Wonderful film...and if i wasn't as cynical as i am about the Oscars, i'd think Sandler would have an opportunity for a nom.
