Hey, just wanted to let y'all know about a movie that has already been circulating for a few weeks now called Auto Focus. It stars the perfect Greg Kinnear as the infamous Bob Crane and the always-electric, Willem Dafoe. the film chronicles Crane's beginnings from a meager discjockey, through the heights of Hogan's Heroes, the disintegration of his career, and the depths of his sexual depravity.
Its not a film for the faint of heart, for the sexual acts and the symbolisms of modern sexuality are presented blantantly...and both Kinnear and Dafoe wrap themselves up in a world of pornography and swinging where the motto is..."a day without sex is a day not worth living".
director Paul Schrader does some amazing work with the colour and camera...revolving it steadily around a focal point, Crane - a focal point which the audience becomes very uncomfortable with. Dafoe, as Kinnear's sidekick of sorts, shows the depths of our obsessions...ultimately a foil of Kinnear's own obsessions.
the film is itself unsettling, tho if interested in 2 classic actors and a study of a fallen man...check out Auto Focus. its well worth the effort.
