I love action films but they have to make sense for me to really like them . If they're just really stupid then I normally switch off (in my head ;) ). I like crime films or ones that have a cool twist as well and lets not forget sci fi/fantasy. I voted for action but my favourite fantasy films are of course, lord of the rings and star wars.

Lol......honestly, I like all different types of movies. I love sci-fi, drama, chick movies, classic movies -- even some Westerns!
But I just had to cast my vote for the chick flicks. lol

I just love a good plot, in almost any genre...would have been great if I could have rated each genre between 1-10, then I would have been happy!

It depends on what mood I'm in as to what I like to watch. Basically I like all genres if they are good. With the possible exception of true Horror films. They make me jump too much and yes I know that is the point but take Alien for example I knew the thing would come out of his stomach at precisely that point but I' still jumped about half a mile into the air and nearly ended up on the floor. I was lying on the sofa at the time, the only reason I didn't fall off was that my b/f saved me. Mind you he couldn't stop laughing at the way I jumped. As you can see after 20 yrs he's never let me forget it. :)

I can't stand that scene with the alien comming out of his stomach, it makes me sick! Also like the X-files, where some fungee grew threw their victims throat, I can't stand that kind of movies..yach! Even if the plot was great, and the rest of the film was good, I can't bring myself to watch it again. Sorry about that.

The choices were admirable and I did choose Chick Flicks but I would prefer to admit to any and all Independent films! I love the Festival flicks that come out. Big fan of Sundance and Torontos Film Festival releases. Spitfire Grill and Your Love is Better then Ice Cream are just a few great flicks I have seen....notworthy

Alien? Well I'm glad it made you laugh and not jump. Whoever you were with must have thought you were totally insane to laugh at that point.

You've gotta love a good James Bond film... My fave James Bond would have to be.. Sean Connery..... Love him...;)
Lessa
November 15th,2002, 07:45 PM
I prefer Sean connery too. He got that 'Je ne sais quoi' that something more than any of the others. I do like Piers Brosnan though.
Daisy I agree Bank Holidays would not be the same without a Bond film on the telly.

Ah, painfull idiotic films... I very much enjoyed the movie Dude, Where's My Car? Stupid movie, but I die laughing whenever I watch it. It's too much fun. roflmao Oh and another good one is, Baby's Day Out. It's not Idiotic, but you might bust a gut....lol

For stupid movies, NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE.....it hurts me very deeply..I want to cry from the pain it caused me. I am saying this in complete honesty, it is an awful movie, but it will make you laugh at its inappropriateness

Tears are what make girls night out worth while! As I type I am suffering to watch Beth's spirit depart this mortal world all within the same room her loving sister Jo has come to, to read a fun excerpt from Dickens. Beth's final words are the words that touch me the most. "I know I shall be homesick for you, even in Heaven." *blubbering* Oh the sadness!! mecry How does one go on when we're made to weep at such things mecry mecry;)

Bless you Teddy, you are a dear! It just occured to me that Teddy is in the same said movie I only just recently ranted about! How nifty! ONly Christian Bale is a far better Laurie then a Teddy. It is suiting to refer to him as HOT, however. especially in A MIdsummers Night Dream.....bum shot makes the ending worth while...well that and the whole scenes with Kevin Kline and his little acting troupe at the end.....OH I love that movie!!! Rupert, Rupert!! And not to mention that lovely (though hairy) Stanley Tucci!!! OOOOOOOO so wonderful!

Hey! I'm Picese and true, I can be romantic. But ugh! I hate chick flicks! (No offense or anything...) No wonder guys will go with me to see a movie. I won't go see the chick ones. Personally, I prefer horror and action. Especially James Bond action. I love his cars!!! Have a good one y'all! (No, I'm not American, I just say that sometimes...)

I voted for Romatic commedies so as not not to let the side down (I see SiFi and Horror are creeping up on us lol ) but I love the action films as well, there really isn't anything quite like a good car chase, and I love the James Bond movies.

OOooo this is hard. I like lots of different things, often to suit my mood, sometimes something arty, sometimes something I don't have to think through. think I'm going to suprise myself and pick Drama over Sci-fi/Fantasy. Its not because within the genre there's a few bad sci-fi/fantasy films, hell there's some reall doozeys in any category. I'll just kid myself and say that good Sci-fi/fantasy is good drama too hehehehe :nono:
Chick flicks (e.g., films with meg ryan  ) are a definite last on my list. I'll watch em, I even really like some of them *gasp* (I liked You've got mail and NottingHill) they're just a little too much like drinking sugar flavoured water, as a genre on the whole...icky (ooo and I don't count things like Pride and Prejudice in that category ...they're drama too hehehehehe)...I'm oscillating between Drama and Sci-fi/Fantasy ... in the end Drama gets my vote because Horror is in the other category and it pulls the rest down.

Adun, I'm a picses too, but in no way am I the girlie movie type. Blow em up, blood and guts, with maybe a kiss scene or two.....
Do they have a category for that?
Adunauriel
January 17th,2003, 08:39 PM
I belive that would fall under the 'Action' type movies, but I could be wrong...
All I ment by the Picese comment was that Piceans usually tend to be more romantic. Not that all piceans were Romantic.. I too enjoy a good Blow em up movie every so often. I just usually prefer a good romance....

I voted for dramas, but to be accurate, my fav genre is historical drama with action! I also love fantasy (hence LOTR ;) ). The only category I'm not a big fan of are the chick flicks ( I do like a few, but as a general rule, I don't go for them). Why do I have a feeling that I will soon be trouted?
