Hello War Ringers
As some of you may have noticed I have been doing a couple of tests in here as I get the hang of image posting, that is having an image within a post.
This facility is available only in the Art forum as it is on a visual subject, it is nice to actually see what we are talking about.
The actual image posting itself is quite straightforward (when you know how).
1 go to art Gallery/Photoforum/Imagehost site wherever the picture is that you want to post
2 select a select a picture.
3 click on it and let it download
4 right click on the picture to bring up Properties
5 highlight the URL which looks something like this http://www.warofthering.net/gallery/ .
and copy
6 Come back to the Art Forum and start your thread
7 Click on the IMG button http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d94/Nessa-the-Dancer/insertimage.gif a little box should pop up. Titled: Explorer user prompt Script Prompt
8- right click on the box and Paste it will replace the http:// that is there already.
9 click OK and the URL will appear in the reply box. When you have posted the reply you will see the picture.
This method applies whether you are posting from our Art/Photo Gallery, Photo Forum or from an online host ie Photobucket
Now, before you all get carried away I need to lay down a few conditions:
1) After you have test posted once (or maybe twice if you want to be doubly sure), I dont want to have pictures appearing randomly with no purpose.
If you chose a picture it must be one for discussion. This could be:
*about the way the picture is drawn/painted use of light, shading etc
*If it is a depiction of an event in Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit etc, then how well the artist captured that moment. And the same applies if it is another Middle Earth scene.
2) The main purpose of this is to make more use of our Art Gallery and there are loads of paintings and drawings there and image posting has been enabled so that they can be seen, appreciated and discussed within the forum.
If you want to discuss a picture that is on another site, you are not permitted to post that image directly onto the Forum. That is called Hotlinking and it is stealing that site's bandwidth it is not acceptable. You can however post a link to the picture by using the http:// button instead of the IMG, and the same conditions still apply as to why you want it to be discussed.
Note: If you would like to share your own artwork with the community we would love to see it you can either post it in our Photo Forum (http://www.warofthering.net/photoforum/) and link/image post from there
Upload them to an online hosting site like Photobucket and do the same thing
or
You can send them to our Webmaster at Illuvatar@warofthering.net and he will create a space for you in our Art Forum (http://www.warofthering.net/gallery/galleries/index.php?cat=2) and you can then link and image post from there.
If anybody has any problems with image posting or has any questions dont hesitate to ask, you can post them in this thread and I will do my best to help.
Have fun!
