Secret bits in the Extened DVD

I have no idea where to go to get this on the main page so i have posted it here in hope that spomeone will move it and edit this and a few other bits out that you think shouldn't be there!

Ok well i just was reading on DVD Town about these secret bits on the dvd, i haven't got it yet so i can't check it out! but i am pritty sure it is real.

ok here they are:

You can find: MTV spoof, "Two Towers" preview, DVD production credits

How to find it: Disc 1--Go to the Scene Selections menus, and highlight the horizontal picture of Chapter 27, the last chapter on Disc 1. Press down on your remote control’s direction pad to highlight a ring icon. Click on the ring icon to watch the MTV version of Elrond’s secret council.

Disc 2--Go to the Scene Selections menus, and highlight the number for Chapter 40, the last chapter on Disc 2. Press down on your remote control’s direction pad to highlight an icon of two towers. Click on the two towers icon to watch the preview of “The Two Towers” that appeared in theatres towards the end of the first film’s theatrical run.

Discs 3 and 4--Go to the Main Menus, and move the menu cursor to the diamond-shaped icon at the bottom of the page. Click on the icon to access the DVDs’ production credits.

Uou actually have to choose chapter 48, which is the last one, and THEN scroll down one more. Then two towers will appear in the bottom right corner. highlight them and press enter. then peter jackson pops up and tells about this "suprise" and after that you get to see the WONDERFUL trailer.

wow...i need to check for that when i get home...my dad apperently ordered it about 3 weeks ago and it arrived on tuesday so he brought it home and put it away for christmas but felt too guilty so gave it to me!!! unfortunately he gave it to me too late to watch it last night and i only managed to see an hour this morning before school.....

ok, HOW do you get to the spoofs? I don't want to see the MTV one...heard way too many bad things about it. But the other one I'd like to see! so how exactly do I get to it? (I need nice, clear directions to be able to understand anything!)

Well, the other thing isn't a spoof really... it's the TTT preview footage that was played at the end of Fellowship near the end of its run. To get to it, put disk 2 in, go to scene selection, go over to the numbers on the right side and choose the last option. The only scene listed should be the Fan Club credits. If you're not on the numbers on the right anymore, go back there, and press down until sillouets of Orthanc and Barad-Dur appear under the list of numbers. Select it, and it should start up.

Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you ! I just got my DVD player specifically for these discs and I've barely mastered the basics (like PLAY). I never would have found these little gems on my own!

Not quite a hidden scene but Its not obvious, if you go to the index on the 4th CD, 2nd page has listed "Editorial Demonstration: The Council Of Elrond". It doesn't play if you use the "Play All" option, or at least it didn't on mine.

Help needed. I can't find the MTV spoof. You said you highlight the horizontal picture of chapter 27. Well when you press down when chapter 27 is highlighted it goes back to chapter one :huh: There is no way of actually highlighting the picture because its at the top of the screen??

Hmm.. you say you're in England? That's your problem right there. I believe the censor board or whatever you have there made them remove the spoof from DVDs released in England in order to prevent going to a higher rating. Sorry... ^^

I cant find it mecry i tried and tried-what am i doing wrong??? I found the TTT preview but i cant get the spoof mecry

You got the same problem as me. We have the region 2 (European) version of the dvd. This means to keep within its PG rating they can't show the spoof :(

I can get the TTT preview, but not the spoof. This is probably because it's a region 2 DVD. I hear it's quite rude... is there a 'Prince Albert' involved, by any chance?

I haven`t seen this news anywhere on War Of The Ring so I`m posting it here:

There are hidden features on extended (4 DVD) edition of Fellowship Of The Ring. Here is what I`v found on internet:
MTV Movie Awards clip (Special Extended Edition):
Insert Disc 1. Select the "Scene Selection" option at the main menu. Advance to the final scene selection screen. Highlight the "Council Of Elrond" option and press Down to highlight a hidden ring. Press Enter to view a clip where this scene was spoofed on the MTV Movie Awards.

The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers extended trailer (Special Extended Edition):
Insert Disc 2. Select the "Scene Selection" option at the main menu. Advance to the final scene selection screen. Highlight the number "48" on the screen, then press Down to highlight a hidden image of the Two Towers. Press Enter to view an extended trailer from the movie.

I`ve checked this and it works :)

does anyone know if this movie is really on the extended edition dvd? and if so, how can you watch it?
I have heard about a mtf secret, or such a thing, but this hasn`t got anything to do with mtv.
Still it`s dammn funny :D :)

That is indeed on the Ext DVD, to get to it you have to go into the chapter selection on disk 1, select "Council of Elrond," and press down. A ring should appear on screen - press enter, and you're there! It's not on DVDs sold in England, though, since they had to remove it to avoid a higher rating.

Yes, it has to do with MTV, cause that's where the spoof first aired.

And yes, it is pretty dang funny!

@ Gollum it is but not on the PAL version because it will put the rating up to a 12 and they will lose out! where as in the U.S its a 12A anyway so it doesn't matter!

from what i understand the only bit you don't see in the Pal version is the MTV bit, the preview for the next one is there but from what i heir the extras i.e making of, there is 10 mins cut out all together that arn't in the PAL version aswell but this is only a romour!

I think when you press "play all" you see all the *videos*, but there are other features (the photo galleries and the editing workshop come to mind) that wouldn't fit in very well.

There's a list in the little booklet that comes with the boxed set. Well in the booklet that there's a tree like flowchart of the various sections on each disc and the different colours tell you what's included and what's not included in when you hit "Play-all".

That is true, the little booklet pretty much should answer all your question about what will, & wont play.. When you select, Play All....;)
