well according to every review ive read, the inconveniance is made well worth it, due to the quality of the movie...the reason its been split is the amount of data that theyve put into each CD....heaps in other words

well. yes. i think they had to. and it was not that annoying, the first ends right after the council of elrond, and it is an apt place to stop since they had to. which i think they did.
and yes, it was most definately... worth it!!!!!!! :whoohoo::wiggle: i loved it

it's apperently a much better split which you get on vcd's which is great cos they don't annoy me much...

well...if you get pirate films they're often on VCD's and cos these aren't big enough to hold a whole film they split it across two....

Tar-Ancalimė is right. They had to split the movie onto two discs. Due to the 4 commentary tracks and the DTS track, the movie was too big for one disc. As I understand it, the DTS sound track takes up a lot more room than a Dolby Digital track. Which is why, on some DVDs that have separate DTS and Dolby Digital tracks, the Dolby Digital disc will have more extra features than the DTS disc.
Had they crammed all that onto one disc, you would have compression artifacts out the whazoo. ;)
But, the split comes at a great time. Plus it wors out nice for a trip to the fridge for some more snacks.

And who would want the whole film squashed on one disc in poor quality rather than amazing quality for both halfs. It also sounds better don't you think "A four disc set" lol ;)

I like it just because it is reminicant of the intermission period in theater. It makes it more classical in a way.

*shrug*
Works for me. I actually like the break it provides... and it kinda puts in the two-part structure that the book had (though yes, I know the spil isn't in the exact same place).
Besides, is it THAT much of a problem to change CDs?

It's an extra half-hour of footage isn't it?
Couldn't they just fit the whole movie on one DVD and then special fetures and stuff on disc 2-4??
I'll still buy it, and I don't mind switching the DVD, but still....
