What is your all-time fave new scene in the Ext? Me, it's all!

You forgot the passing of the elves! One of the more poignant (sp?) moments added to the new cut, IMHO.
But all the ones you put up there are good... so my only choice is to choose the last option!

The most poignant one to me is the singing of the Lay of Luthien. The emotion on Aragorn's face is superb. I wish the words were more audible. But I also heard on the special features DVD something about them not having the rights to the poems and songs in the books. Is that true?

I liked all of them but my favorite was The Green Dragon and The Passing of the Elves. My favorite changes were the extra talking with Gandalf and Bilbo at the beginning (party included lol) I also liked when Hailder rejected their entrace to Lothlorien, and half of what Frodo sees in Galadriels mirror becomes a reality! Interesting stuff!
"Bilbo, Have you been in the Gaffer's home brew?" Summut like that ;)

I love all the extra scenes but the one I'll highlight for comment is *Concerning Hobbits* that Bilbo writes, which mainly just showing them eating & drinking & smoking. It just makes me wish it was a place I could visit, they should have kept the whole set !!! (Although on one of the extra's PJ says he has Bag End in storage.)

The Ext DVD offered so much more depth and in my opinion improved the film as a whole, especially Lothlorien.

lol
Hmmm...I never heard them not having rights to poems and songs. But of course I haven't gotten thru all of the special features yet! lol
Yet...I wonder...perhaps they didn't. My thinking goes back to a teacher of mine who says he can only show about "10%" of a film in class because of copyright laws or something. (Well, one enver knows with mr. Syblick, he's a stickler to ANY rule, no matter how STUPID or strange or minscule.) Perhaps that thing goes the same for poems from books in movies! They could only use a short part of each poem and song. *ponders*

You may actually be right there, Ashley! I've alays wondered why they have Gandalf repeat the words to "Road Goes Ever On" as he's riding into the shire instead of continuing with the rest of the song. That might explain it!

SO the green dragon!!!! it's so great. i missed all the songs. and frodo dancing around the table and stuff, it's all so hobbitish. i luv it. but i definetely love all them!! next in line would have to be the scene with frodo and sam (lol, "everywhere i turn there's a dirty great root stickin' into my back!"), the gift-giving in lorien, and the seen in the midgewater with aragorn singing about the tale of luthien and baron (spelling?). all of it is great though!!! it's so much better than the original, i think. great character development.

i enjoyed seeing Gollum floating down the river...loved that part in the book, and remember thinking during the movie, that i wanted that sense of Gollum being on their tail the whole time.
i think it will lead into TTT better.

I voted for the last option...cos my fav bit is the entry into lothlorien. Second in line, however, is the passing of the elves...didn't you think the singing is beautiful? :)
