many of us have been fans of this book for a goodly many years before the movies came out......what im interested in is for those who draw or paint, or for that matter write or create music...has the movie with its beautiful images, coloured your perceptions of ME, and/or your depictions?
i know myself that as a portraitist, i was ecstatic that the characters were so close to the way id always envisaged them, but i know that others have found that images from the movie have taken over thier art....for some this is not a bad thing....for others it is...particularly if you had a strongly different view of ME

i liked all the actors... with a few notable exceptions ;)

i enjoyed the book more after watching the movie... just because i had my own images doesnt mean they were spoiled by PJ's...

about aragorn... yes... i think he did it well...as for looks... well i never envisioned an aragorn of my own ;) so therefore i thought he looked fiiiiine (in more ways than one ;))

The best cast characters were Gimli and Merry. The rest of them looked very different to how I imagined them.

i read the books after i saw the movie, so i envisioned the characters in the book as the ones fromt he movies.

It would be quite hard to make a heroic character like Aragorn 'look foul'. They werte all pretty much how I imagined them.

yhea i'd have to say in the book though he sounded kool his description made him sound .... er ... not so good lookin ... but in the movie .... leme just say he looked nothin like they said he would in the book............. i don't think he looks a lot like viggo .. maybe it's the hair or the stubble chops

I had never had a real clear image in my head of the people as I read the books. The places and descriptions were always clear to me but facial features were always vague in my mind. I am very thankful that PJ chose his cast as carefully as he did because I now do have concrete faces for the characters as I read and they fit perfectly!

While on the subject of Aragorn/Viggo I thought I would post this (http://www.boomspeed.com/primula/Aragorn.jpg) link for a beautiful sketch I came across. I think it came from The One Ring's gallery but I can't remember for sure now and I don't recall the artist mecry but it is one of my favorites.

I do admire Viggo, he's a brilliant actor, and when i saw him onscreen as Aragorn, thats how i pictured him. That was Aragorn. And i've drawn several picturs of him. I plan to get the scanned so i can show, but i am currentlly on webtv. I'd love to show them as soon as i can though, I have Frdod drawings, Arwen, Legolas as well. i drew the elven brooch as well, but my Aragorn portraits im proud of.

i dunno if it's ture...... but i read somewhere that some guy called stuart townshend was spose to do the role ..... but i guess he was too young?? ........ i'm not quit sure who he is ...

but vig definatly fits the part ...... though i like aragorn much better than vig!!

I agree with most people. Viggo definitely was meant for the part of Aragorn:loveyou: although he looks better when he's Aragorn:loveyou::loveyou::loveyou::loveyou: :loveyou:

Yeah, I think Viggo is what I think of now when I think of Aragorn. The same kind of happened when I heard that Stu Townsend was to take the role (he was in Resurrection Man... http://us.imdb.com/Name?Townsend,+Stuart ), but not to the same extent. I never did feel particularly comfortable with the Bakshi version of Aragorn, but I do think that John Hurts voice was spot on for him... More so than Viggos. I just imagined him to have that voice, it was perfect. Never mind!

I saw the movies before reading the books so when I read the books I envisioned the actors as the characters.
