Ok well i live in england and i have a dvd player that can play all regions, but i am not sure what extended dvd bits there are on them? brcause i know the NTSC one has the Jack Black bit and another bit, but i am wondering if the pal has its own?

so in short, is all the differents is that they cut out the Jack Black spoof? and i will lose out if i buy the NTSC version?

thanks:thumbs:

As far as I know DVDs are MPEG-2, the DVD player then converts this to either PAL or NTSC depending on the TV receiver you have, so whether its PAL or NTSC shouldn't be an issue.

i know that but the U.S version has the extras i.e jack black spoof, where (as far as i know?) as the UK version does not? does this mean if i buy the uk version i will miss out???

That is correct, the US version has the spoof and the UK version doesn't. I believe the UK version also had to cut about a minute and a half of extras because of the language used, though I don't believe there's a single feature that's missing outright.

The two "special surprises" are on the Region 4 DVD :)
Incidently, DVDs here always specify they have been formatted for PAL
(so do my Region 2 DVDs :naughty: )

So if you're worried, and you have a multiregion player you could always get a Region 4 DVD

Well, the pal version is 8 mins shorter, but that is due to the framerate being faster in Pal, 24 fps in US 25 fps in Pal, that has something to do with the cinema/dvd conversion, and US has better sound and Pal better picture (hope i got it right).
Hope that helps!!

MY Q. has already been asked thanks!

but you aren't write about the frame rate(sorry) (i have studied this) the U.S has a frame rate of 30 fps and the UK has 25fps but the U.S T.V's have less lines (not too sure if the dvd has the same no. lines?), the frame rate does not notice because the human eye works about 12 fps, i don't think the sound is better but i can't say!:)

But then if you have cr***y sound system and cr***y screen it probably wont matter much.
:jester:

(oooo ..... and Region 4 is Australia, NZ, South America and other backwater countries. The R4 DVD (Pal) has everything on it that it's meant to.)
