I don't consider this one of my best (in fact, I won't put my best on the net), and I only wrote it yesterday after reading a few of the poems in this forum.
:elfqueen:
I can now see the rise of the tower
Morning dew hath now melted away
For the dim winter nights bring new power
To a land that pleads I will stay.
It is not that I wish for forgiveness
For the anguish I brought to my plight
But my soul longs for what lies in the West
And my spirit can no longer fight
‘Neath the trees I have found a new haven
Flowers bloom under leaves that are gold
Yet the days are as black as the Ravens
And the nights as Kirinkis so bold
I have loved Middle-earth since I came here
I have fought for its treasures and grace
But the ships of the Eldar are fast drawing near
And this land shall be left to a faltering race
Yet I can do nothing but give them respite
And gifts of true heart they will bear
It is not the Elves who will win this fight
But the strength of those who follow the Heir
