How did you all like it? Seen it yet? Find anything wrong with it?
I did! Harry's eyes were blue! BLUE! They're supposed to be bright green! ach!

Which was lovely, but all too short!
I thought CoS was a good movie, much better than the first...tho still too long and too sacchrine in parts. animation was better ten-fold...loved the pixies

ooh yes. the animation was better. i thought fawkes could have looked better tho.
omg, i love alan rickman(snape) i have a weird obsession with him. and all the kids got so big! especially rupert!(ron) good final performance for richard harris also.
my LOVED the dueling and Quidditch scenes too! and was it just me, or...was there a little harry/hermione angst? hehe

I saw the film yesterday and enjoyed every minute of it. I thought it was better than the first movie since the series is in full swing now with the continuing storyline. Can't wait for the 3rd film next year. :)

I saw it! Very good! My friend said the same things about the eyes! Isn't Draco supposed to be really pale?

Short? They showed the full version of the final for me! Pure bliss!
The only way it could have been better is if they had showed the entire movie!

aaarggh, we don't get Harry Potter for another week at least!! Why does everyone always seem to forget Oz, and release films so much later than everywhere else??

I thought Fawkes looked bad also! And I got really excited when I saw Snape for the first time. I love Alan Rickman.
Harry/Hermione? NO! Ron/Hermione is where it's at. Actually, I thought both pairs had chemistry. I hope J.K. Rowling doesn't see the chemistry between Emma and Daniel and decide to go for Harry and Hermione in Book 5. She belongs with Ron! I liked the scene at the end where they were all squiemish about hugging each other.
Well, anyway, I thought it was a good movie. Dobbie didn't bother me as much as he did in the previews. He scared me in the previews. My little brother asked me why Dobby bothers me and Gollum doesn't. Well, it's because Gollum is SUPPOSED to be scary and Dobby isn't. I find Gollum cute, but Dobby's just freaky.

I'm going to see it tomorrow when it's released here in Sweden. I'm looking forward to it. :) I loved the first movie.. and I love all the books. It'll be fun.

No! harry/hermione! ron will meet someone soon! they would fight too much. i think harry and ron will both fall for hermione and hermione will end up choosing harry and harry and ron will fight but eventually be friends again. :) yep yep. plus, really, you have admit, harry did some pretty "close" things. he held/touched her hand a couple times, and he was not near as squemish about hugging her than ron was. but eh, maybe i'm jaded because i want harry/hermione.
---
that sucks about australia daisy, sorry. it'll be great. just hold out.
AND! did anyone else know about the scene AFTER the movie credits?! i didn't! and i sat there for a second thinking, "oh, what if there is something else.." but i left! and it turned out there was something else! so i gotta go see it again anyways, but..grr! just so you all knew.

hey guys, have you read the fifth book? it is soooo obvious that ron and hermione have it going on. its very very clear lol
anyway.... i loved the movie... a lot... i somehow have developed a strange fascination with draco, he is now one of my favorite actors, and i dont even know who played him lol (yes, someone who knows may tell me ;))
umm well his eyes are supposed to be green, but i dont really care that much. i mean, hes cute, in a little kid kind of way.
love snape.... books and movies....
well...i thought the way they did the plot was abrupt, and i doubt i would understand it if i hadnt read the book. anyway i loved it.
plus, in the second one, the climax came where it was supposed too....
and did anyone else find themself absolutely fascinated with the guy that played Riddle? I loved the way he did that... loved it.

you mean fourth book surely Tar??? Unless you know something we don't about the long awaited Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix??!!! :elfeek:
Snape is my fave character! Alan Rickman is great. Jason Isaacs was very good too... as was Christian Coulson (mmmm!!)
I agree that Ron and Hermione will get together - it's so obvious if u've read 4th book. In an interview, someone asked JK Rowling if Harry and Hermione would get together, because they thought she'd made it obvious that they would, and she replied "Harry and Hermione? Do you really think they're suited?" or something like that.
and did anyone else notice that Lucius said "Avada" when he was going to curse Harry? There's only one way that could end...! :elfeek: Naughty Lucius!!!
Tar-Ancalimė
November 22nd,2002, 09:37 PM
ooop  yes of course imeant fourth book lol i wish i had read the fifth book ;)
Avada? I didnt hear him say that... but um yeah i only saw it once... thats weird if so... i dont think rowling would have ever made him try to do that to harry in the middle of a hall at hogwarts... then again this is the movie not the book lol and that is cool that they would put a nice little detail like that in the movie:grin:

We just got back from the premiere, and I'm very pleased with it! Although I felt like missing out on something, the book is so long and I sometimes felt I didn't get enough depth. But the film was great, the kids have grown in all ways, and the new caracters were cast well. Kenneth Branagh was so full of himself, he would have given my mouth a bad taste if he hadn't had that little ludicrous feel! And Malfoy Sr. was every tidbit of evil I had pictured, and sooo upperclassy superior! Rupert Grint is a great comical talent, we all knew that, it shows even better in this film. And guys, I really can't understand why so many say Daniel Radcliffe's face lacks expression. I like the way he underplays, in fact I thougt some others exaggerated their facial expressions at some points. Ofcourse, in this film he's given more of the dialog, but I really didn't sit with that feel even after the first film. He's got such a sinister look at times, makes me see he's not always such a togoody. Christian Coulson was very good as well, twistedly evil and I could sence the power he held. These young guys are growing up to be very attractive...ok, they will become real hunks and if I were 13, (for which I'm glad I'm not!), I wouldn't know which one to have the biggest crush on! Pity that we didn't see more of Snape, I like him as well. He almost seemed nice...whats this...well with all the evil surrounding Hogwarts I guess he stands in a different light! So now we just have a little wait before book 5 hits the shops, but all too long before the next film. Did I mention that my 10 year old daughter also liked it...?
Ronin
November 22nd,2002, 11:35 PM
lol...what...am i that obvious??? i swear, one would think my...abilities would be appreciated ;)
but aye, Aranel was right there, Jason Isaacs was absolutely wonderful as Lucius Malfoy...really drew me in. He and Branagh are two of the specific reasons i was able to really enjoy CoS. whereas the adult crew of Stone last year added nothing to very little chemistry...this time around, everything...or near everything...clicked.
Riddle was good...the climax this time around was infinitely better than the first - still some faults, but satisfying to watch.
good...no lotr...but what is? lol
Cuiel Rilwen
November 23rd,2002, 12:07 AM
You're absolutely right, Ronin, it's no LotR. But the GOOD critics differ between not only what they personally like and don't, but also between whats good quality and not. And for what someone critize Columbus' sticking to much to the book, whats so terrible about that? Are some people expecting a different story in the movie? And most important, as all the books aren't written yet...not that I believe they're gonna film all of them...some little details i the written material will be important to later plots, and who knows everything about that? Any director who'd wanna film this many sequels wouldn't wanna destroy the ground on which he stands.

ah i have to agree, no lotr. but i love it. a lot. i mean a lot. i cant get over how cute hermione was tho, shes not supposed to be cute.
i loved the guy who played riddle (who was that?).. i thought he captured the mood perfectly, esp in the memory.
and i think if i was only a little younger... only a little lol.... i would swoon over young malfoy... lol he was great!!!
ah i cant wait to see it again... maybe sunday
Ronin
November 23rd,2002, 03:30 PM
have to admit...Hermoine is a cutey pie....*sighs*...if only i was a little younger...wait, maybe i don't have to be ;) lol
stay for after the credits Tar....if u haven't already.
Absolutely agree with u Cuiel, critics should not only recognize their personal tastes but also remain detached enough to ascertain the depths of good flim making. but there is enough credence to criticize a director for holding too close to the book...would have done so against PJ, for it would have been to the detriment of the movie, movies. as the same with the original Harry Potter...i personally found it to be a very lackluster movie. Yet not only that, but the massive faults of the movie were inescapable - largely due to the strict adherence to the first novel. there was no flow...hardly any magic...and perhaps one of the most pathetic climaxes of a kid's story i've ever seen. all this or most of this corrected in the 2nd movie.

I saw it last night and I loved it!! I love all the Harry Potter-books and I loved the last movie. A lot of critics said it was too long and that coffee should be handed out to all kids so that they could stay awake... I do NOT agree with them. To me it almost felt too short. When it ended it felt like "no.. not yet!!! I want more!". Besides, the book is so long that some parts of the story had to be shortened to fit into the movie. I hope they'll make a longer version on DVD. :)
I'm still as amazed by the actors. The kids I mean. They're so good.
Dobby was a little bit annoying. He wasn't exactly as I had imagined him (though pretty close).. but he was ok. You got used to him after a while. :)
Creepy spiders. Yuk. :( But the worst thing was the snake! It reminded me of Jurassic Park.

Didn't get to see the TTT- trailer, my daughter refused to sit alone in the cinema after everybody had left! Oh, the quidditch- scenes were magnificant, I just hate sports. But if someone told me I could fly a broomstick in this wonderful game, I would be off before anyone could say Bertie Butts Every Flavour Beans! Did any of you read Quidditch through the ages? Can't believe this woman...she's awsome!notworthy

and tar, Draco is played by Tom Felton, and I'm sorry, but he is a little hottie. wish he didn't have the lisp tho..
and no one told ME about staying after the movie! i have yet to see it again, but i would like to tonight or sometime soon..=(

Finally got to go see it last night.....grrrrr....I didn't know they showed the trailer AFTER the movie....I was falling asleep as it was.....The Quidditch scene was awesome (did anyone else hope that Malfoy would brain himself on one of those beams?)...Dobby was suitable annoying....but he was supposed to be. I think my favorite part was the spiders, even though they were quite creepy. I must admit to more than a passing fascination with Lucius Malfoy, however....I know he's one of the bad guys, but, DAMM....I couldn't help catching my breath.....it's that older, distinguished gentleman thing....that undisguised touch of evil only adds to his dark charm.....guess I'm gonna have to take my son to see it again.....for the TTT trailer, of course.....
Ronin
November 23rd,2002, 11:17 PM
riiiiiight....of course ;)
personally, the spider scene didn't do anything for me, cool...but nothing really scary. and the quidditch was righteous...sooo much better than last year's. Dobby was irritating but that was the character...the integration was seamless, tho he moved way too much standing still ;) Issacs and Branagh made this film tho...right on

Well, this is what happens when you believe everything thats posted around here! Now I'm gonna get trouted for saying that about the TTT- trailer in the end of CoS, and I've only read the post quoted above, assuming it was true. Remember what I said about selective memory? Well this time it backfired on me. And guess who gets to see the movie second time around; not me, thats for sure!pfbbt My husband gets to go, with our daughter, who still will be equally reluctant to stay through the end credits. i really liked this movie, a thousand times better than the first... in Cos, the actors act, they dont just sit there and let the special effects do the work for them ;)
i didnt like dobby, incredibly annoying, but then, he is that way in the books as well.... i cant stand him there either, so i will say they did a good job with him in the movie

It DID remind of Jurassic Park. The snake that is. It had the same face as the dinasours or something. It just felt similar. Somehow. I don't like snakes. :( Or spiders for that matter... but these spiders were ok, because they didn't feel that real.. in some way. I'm glad they stayed on the screen though.. :)

Yeah, really evil, that basilisk! You're right, the head reminded me too of a dino, a carnataur or something. (Yes, I have a 5 year old son whos hung up on the beasts, he feeds me with unpronouncable names all the time!) Oh, the flying car was like so cool, and that whomping willow...! And the look on Harrys face as he and Ron were holding up Lockhart from running away...geee! Poor Ron with the slugs, they were so big, yikes! He really look kinda green, didn't he!

Don't know who said it was a a TTT trailer, but its not! Its a clip about one of the HP characters. It's not that long, and only slightly funny, but worth staying for anyway.
We had the TTT trailer at beginning of the film, but it's the one that theyve shown on TV programmes loads of times. It looks way better on the big screen though.
Tar, it was Christian Coulson who played Riddle. I thought he was gorgeous! and it is ok to drool over him, coz he's 24!
I agree that the lads are cute - they will be really goodlooking when theyre older, but a bit young for me now.
Sean Biggerstaff is the right age though... he's 18 i think.

Thanks, Aranel, for helping me clear that out! Who knows, whats before and after the film may vary from country to country. I went to the premiere, and the local cinema had arranged a little show with help of a childrens theatre- fun for the children and for their parents, I'm sure. The cinema here isn't very inventious when it comes to making premieres special, so I must admit I'd rather see the TTT-trailer! I'm sure you're not telling which HP- caracter the clip was about to prevent spoiling it for the other guys, but I'm hopelesly curious, and I won't find out unless someone takes pity on me. Could you be so sweet as to tell me in a PM, pretty pleeease? I promise not to tell anyone!

Hotties...is far from the right word here...allthough they eventually will be...they are both so cute! Saw some pictures of Dan in a play by Kenneth Brannagh the other day, some comedy called "the play I wrote" I think it was...in a big crinoline dress and a big powdered wig...looked hilarioussly funny! Obviously some kinda guest performance, a stage play tributing somepeople named Morecombe and Wise...did I get that right? I havent the faintest idea who they are, but anyway Dan looked as he was enjoying himself a lot! lol lol Did any of you guys see teh "Thunderpants" in which Rupert starred? Weird...to some extent, yes, I guess I am! Not like having weird fancies, but I guess sometimes my choice of books and films is a mystery to some people I know. Do I really have to grow up in that manner...oh please say no!!! mecry Its been a while since I saw that picture of Rupert, but I seem to remember he had the funniest hair, like something that was in during the 80'es. Very short on the sides and neck and vey curly on top...and ofcourse as red as ever! He's got a nack for comedy, that kid, think if he continues in acting, we'll see some more funny stuff from him!
Its funny, though, my son said excactly the same thing about Lucius Malfoy; he's only 5, but I've been showing him and my daughter some clips from LotR, skipping the scary stuff on the DVD. And the first time he saw a picture of Malfoy Sr., he said: "theres Haldir!" (Trying my best at learning them to appreciate Tolkien at an early age!)

Well, I have to admit, I have a week spot for Dan! I've read some coments that he's not expressive enough, and I really couldn't understand that cuz what made me notice him in the first film was the opposite! I've been wondering why it is that we see people so differently, and I think its' probably because we are different from eachother. I rather like the subtle way of underplay rather than exagerrating, which... sorry, Tar, don't trout me!...I think Tom Felton at times does. A nother example would be that kid with the difficoult name from "Home alone". I haven't seen any other films with either him or Tom, though. These are all really young guys, and undoubtly they'll continue developping as actors..if they keep acting! Otherwise I feel that Dan has filled the role of Harry in another excellent way, which probably also is due to good directing. Harry isn't that "loud" in the first book, but becomes more sure of himself later. In that sence I think Dan is portraying him very well. God, I just wish the 5th book would hit the shops soon!

Well, he's signed up for the third film, and so are Emma and Rupert. I don't think WB has decided whether to make any more yet, guess that depends on the popularity on the third instalment. So far the second one seems to do well, so we'll just have to wait and see...we're used to that!

It'll be interesting to see if WB opts out for scrapping the entire cast as they grow too old for the parts or hold onto them for name's sake...and face too i guess ;)

I absolutely agree! Harry isn't a real, loud flashy character. he is subtle! *dodges the trouts :P* but i know he was learning how to act. but it still didn't bother me. and i have news that the 5th book has basically been written. Rowling is just "tweaking it". But when she finally gets done ><! it will be at least 5 months for the publishers to get it out and going.
I still haven't seen the HP movie twice yet! and i didn't know what the after trailer was about! now i really can't wait to see it!:o

Well, finally someone who agrees on that! Just adding a comment; as Rowlings herself seems to be very satisfied with the films, both with the kids and in general, they have to have turned out like she created them to be. I seem to remember her saying, on the London premiere last year, (my daughter kept playing it over and over!), that when she met Dan and saw him reherse for the role, it was like meeting a long lost son, and that he is Harry. If the author of the books feels that way, how wrong can he be for the part? It is, for a great deal, our own pictures of how a book-caracter should be, that colours our opinions of the chosen actor. So maybe I just got lucky and shared an mine with the grand lady this time around! I'm totally happy with how it's developping, caracters and all!
Gee, that was a long comment!

I found a link to this article on Daily Telegraph, at www.mugglenet.com/ , it's just a part of it. Go there if you wanna be alarmed!
.Harry Potters biggest challenge yet.
"Warner Brothers is already struggling to find a replacement for Professor Albus Dumbledore following the death of Richard Harris. To try to preserve continuity, executives are even considering manipulating out-takes from the first two instalments and using computer imagery to keep Harris playing the character in the same way Oliver Reed appeared in Gladiator, despite dying of a heart attack while filming the Oscar-winning feature
Concern is also growing that the fourth book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, is, at 734 pages, too long to fit into a single film without risking alienating the series's fanatical fans by having to cut key scenes and plot developments.
Steve Kloves, who has adapted all the books so far, has indicated that it may be best to split the fourth into two, filming them simultaneously and releasing them in the same calendar year."
I somehow felt that CoS, allthough how fun an fantastic I found it, had too much stuffed into it. So I can imagine how GoF must be made into two films! Seems like they have their work cut out for them...!

Very interesting article Cuiel. I had heard rumour that Peter o' Toole might be asked to step into Richard Harris' shoes. I think he would be an excellent replacement. Can't help thinking that digitally inserting Richard Harris into GoF would be completely unsatisfactory.
Hmm... yeah, GoF would definitely have to be a two part-er i think... there's no way to do it without incurring the wrath of the HP faithful i think:)

wont comment on dan... i completely agree that CoS seemed 'stuffed'... and that it would be madness to do a ditigtal Harris (I didnt like his Dumbledore anyway)... and that GoF has to be two movies!

I always thought Richard Harris spoke too slowly as Dumbledore. They will have to replace him - digital enhancement wouldn't work for whole films!
I agree that CoS was too full - and the way the cut it down - it was like they cut out important stuff, so that you wouldnt understand what was going on if you hadnt read the books.
I know that JK Rowling likes Dan, and she thinks he looks perfect, but i'm sorry, he just can't act!

I agree that GoF should be done in two films, but the Richard Harris thing I am still ambiguous over. I don't know how it will work so I can't say if I would like it or not. But I will just have to wait...;)

Trust me - it won't work! They'll just have to cast someone else. It son't be so bad - I mean, they're always changing Bonds and they're still popular.
They were even talking about changing the cast anyway - coz the kids might want to stop and have lives, and they might get too old. They're just gonna wait and see.

They're not going to do the CGI-harrison, thank goodness. either McKellen or Lee, that'll be good enough for me.

Christopher Lee says he hasn't been approached. I think McKellen might have been but i'm not sure if he'd do it. I also heard rumours of Richard Attenborough, but i don't think he's right for the part

Hmmmmm Harry Potter......I liked the books better then the moives cuz they left alot of stuff out. YES i know that they only had So much time to make the moive and they could not put every ling in to the movie. but i still say that the books ar better.

The movie is bad, even though they improved quite a lot for the second one, it's really doesn't have the magic that it has in the book and plus I really don't like Rupert Grint. :mmmm:
Aranel
December 23rd,2002, 05:33 PM
I think Rupert Grint's OK. They make him swear too much in the films, which I don't like. There was no swearing in the books, it's pointless.
The films are never gonna be as good as the books! The books rock!

Err... I hear that this girl (Korean singer) will be playing as the Cho Chang girl... She is quite pretty, in matter of fact, but I think it's just a rumor... I'll show you her picture later...
Anyway... I really liked the movie, though I don't like Ron Weasly aka Rupert Grint that much. He's like kinda weird in the movie... But no offence please! mecry
Did anyone like Draco Malfoy aka Tom Felton in the movie? I absolutely LOVED him! I mean, he was just like my favorite character in the whol world!lol
And the book really ROCKS!
Well, here is the picture of the girl who can play as Cho Chang...

If she plays Cho, the it's gonna be seriously weird. See what they'll do. Yay, Ian Mckellen the new Dumbledore (think) he is gonna be brilliant. Couldn't have found a better replacement ;)

Really, Ian? Does this come from WB, or what...? Sorry to be so suspicious, there's been so many rumours flying around!

They announced it on the news in England, WB aree confirming it after 1st january. It's there on the home section of Wotr.

December 28th,2002, 06:28 PM
This may come off as a little bit selfish, but I don't want Sir Ian as Dumbledore. Of course he would be fantastic, but he already kind of... 'belongs' to Lotr........... Doesn't he think another wizard role might not be great for his career? I just don't know.......
And I don't think its 100% confermed as yet.........there is a denial on McKellen's site, even if it is old.
Anyway, I saw the movie about a month ago and really liked it! I wasn't too thrilled with the first, this was quite an improvement. I don't love Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint is my very favorate! He doesn't look like I imagined Ron would, but his personality gets me! ;) And I think I'm in love with Oliver Wood..... shame he didn't get a bigger part........

My daughter, (10), phoned me at work, all exited cuz she'd read in the paper about Ian being Dumbledor. I'm not overly thrilled... seems he IS Gandalv to me now... but its better than the otherwise magnificant Christoffer Lee!
Sean Biggerstaff...yummy, yes...have you been at his homepage, Nessa? His answeres to the fans are sometimes very entertaining, not yer ordinary puffed- up- by- fame-and ego- sorta guy! Look forward to seeing more of him elsewhere!

I have heard in at least 2 different places that Ian McKellen will be playing Dumbledore, and that it will be confirmed officially this week.
Having said that, the papers could still be wrong.
I think he would make a good Dumbledore. He is a good actor, so could get away with playing both wizards. I don't mind that he's done Gandalf as well. I'd rather it was him than anyone else - I just can't think of anyone who could play Dumbledore.
Oliver Wood is really cute... I met someone who reminded me of him - he had a lovely accent and looked a bit like him too!
But I have to say - Tom Riddle is the best looking! Christian Coulson is gorgeous!

Note that I said handsome...in my opinion you can't really call him ugly...but that doesn't necessarliy mean I like him. He's a bit...sleek...kind of too pretty. At least in HP...I might change my mind whenever I se him in another role!
