No he dosn't die in the books, and I sencerly doubt Peter would change that for the movie. He seems to be a favourite charactor(though why is beyond me).

Is it that it stems largely from the increasing popularity of SMSing or texting with mobiles? I've read that its becoming a problem in schools in several countries (inc., UK .. sheesh) where students are submiting assignments written like this and sometimes they don't even realise what they've done wrong.

Sorry, I could only find the name of Her horse, Windfola, I couldn't find the name of her sword but I doubt it had one being no more than a blade any private rider of Rohan would bear, also it was destroyed when she struck the witch-king.
