RotK & the 50th Anniversary

With RotK to be released at the end of 2003 do you think its coincidence that 2004 is the 50th anniversary of the publishing of LotR ? Or is the timing a very clever piece of marketting planned from the start ?

I never thought about that. That's an interesting thought. It wouldn't surprise me if it was planned though. It's perfect.. they'll probably release more special book sets and things.. and then a box of all the movies or something.

I never really thought of it that way... just seems like coincidence to me. Though it is a nice way to celebrate the 50th anniversery!

It would be a superb way to celebrate the 50th anniversary. I'll more than likely spend that time watching the films. :) I wonder what the Tolkien society has planned?

Yes, you know the Tolkien Society. They've got the whole place in an uproar. Half the worlds been invited, and the rest of them are turning up anyway

To tell you the truth they've been a bit odd lately. I mean more than usual. They've taken to locking themselves into chat rooms. They spend hours and hours pooring over old forums when they think noones looking.
They're up to something!

Well I must admit I had this thought (50th) only because I was thumbing through my 25th Anny edition, and its very well worn, so I thought I might buy a new copy. A year count back made me realise it was close to 50 years so I may as well wait 'till then to buy a new one. Then I thought....hang on....this coincides with the RotK release. Hmmm.

Even after a weeks thought, it still seems too much of a coincidence.

(No problem if it is, makes sense, but no one has mentioned it)

All right, then, PJ, keep your secrets, but I know you have something to tell! Before you came around we Ringers were very well thought of. Never had any line partys or did anything unexpected!

If you're referring to the incident with the movie, I was barely involved. All i did was give you fanboys a little nudge out of the door!
