Does anyone know where tickets can be purchased for the Two Towers premiere's?Specifically the one in New York. I'd do anything to go.

You probably have to be some sort of celebrity to get into the NYC premier on Dec 5th. Anyway though, I'm also planning on seeing the movie in NYC and I've found that a lot of the Loews and UA theatres are putting their tickets on sale this Friday.

Where will the "real" premiere be this year? I mean the one that the cast goes to. It was in London last year.. but this year? Is it LA?

I think the first premier (from memory) is the 5th December (?) in New York (and the last one Sydney on the 19th?). I'm guessing it'll be like last year with cast members attending ones they can because of time, other projects and where they are in the world.
If you're feeling particularly flush with money, you can bid for a ticket to the gala premier in New York or Paris on the New Line web site. They were up to around US$6,000 and US$2,000, respectively earlier today :elfeek: lol

Okay, Speaking of Premiers, does anyone know how to get hold of one for the Sydney Gala Premier and After Party on the 19th (assuming there is an afterparty this year like last)?

I know of two competitions for Australian residents to enter to go the Wellington Premier (The slip in the FOTR-SEE DVD & Empire-Australia) but what about the Sydney gala premier?
I'm lacking contacts who want to give up their tickets pfbbt. Any suggestions anyone?

I just posted a new thread in the News Section that General Release Advance tickets apparently go on sale on Friday in North America (not sure if you guys already know that).

Mrs Frodo one thing you could try is to find out where the NY premier was held last year, get in contact with them and see if they're doing it this year and ask who's incharge of the PR for the event and then get in contact with them. Quite often Gala premiers esp for something this big are invite only, sometimes they have screens for charity mixed in (i.e., expensive tickets). I'd suggest ringing them.
(Sometimes the charity events are separated from the 'red carpet' event and occur a day or so before general release, or on the first day of gen release.

Thank You that was a really good idea. I'm definatly going to try it.

Incidently, the ticket New Line (http://auction.newline.com/Scripts/LotSearch.asp?submitFlag=1&Keywords=Any&Sortby=8&PrevURL=%2Fdefault.htm&ProdName=after%2Bparty&SiteCatNo=&CatNo=) is auctioning off for the World Premier (+ afterparty) in New York is currently at
US$6,501.00 :elfeek:
I'm guessing that if they're auctioning off that there's less chance of there being a charity screening happening at the same time. It's most likely invite only.
Then again, it could be such a valuable commodity (i.e., worth auctioning) because it has the afterparty ticket attached too. If so, it might be possible to get hold of a ticket that lets you into the premier only (i.e., no afterparty) but it would still be very expensive.

I'd still ring the venue and then the PR company though, you never know.

You're paying that much just to be the first to see a movie? Yikes, you people sure throw money around. In Malaysia it's a nationwide first-day, on December the 18th. My friend's helping to book for a whole group of us, but I sure hope that we're not gonna have a popcorn fighting session during the movie though....

Do not let your heart be troubled Chibi Melody, hope remains while .....(I was off on a tangent there) the general release date for most countries is 18th except a few poor countries like us in Australia mecry who have to wait til Boxing Day. So you're doing better for us. Some lucky people like Tar (luckY! luckY! luckY!) have contacts to get the tickets to the gala premiers (in this case LA) which are earlier [I'm wondering if Tar knows anyone working for New Line or Village Roadshow in Australia ;)]
And no I am not spending that much to see it but someone else is. Well really they're spending that much to go the very first screening with the stars and attend the afterparty with them. So that would be pretty special and a once in a lifetime thing. Definitely not your average cinema experience!
Hey Tar someone's already bid over US$1000 for the 2 premier and afterparty tickets in LA (only just went on auction). :elfeek:

Hey Tar, I just read in the Miranda Otto article in the Sydney Morning Herald that she's planning on being at the LA premiere. So thats one you might get to meet ! And I'm sure your parents wouldn't tease you about the possibility of going if you weren't ;) would they?
Incidently, I also noticed in that article that the Sydney premiere will be at Fox Studios this year (much better than where it was last year) and its sooooo close to where I live. I mean I walk to Fox Studios to see movies etc. Ahhhh if only I could gooooo ahhhhhhhhhhhh *hits her sick, heavy, fluey-cold forehead on the floor* this smiley will do nicely notworthy

I'll hazard a guess that Fox Studios was chosen because it can be secured a lot better than the George St. Cinema strip.

Sad times. :(

I'm also just interested in the venue name for the NYC Premiere. I have someone visiting who wants to go and I know when it is but no one in the world seems to know where. We just want to do the "stand outside and yell" fan thing :)
