A few things that intrugues us about wizards:

1) We'll never know whats under their robes.
2) We'll never figure out whether they actually wash their robes or not.

Well.... continue please!

I am not sure I care to know what may be under their robes, especially really OLD wizards. (shudder)

But, 3. How can they swim with such a heavy robe on?

Ok, stupid question...

Neither do I... but who knows, there might be pouches of magical items!

4) The fact that the hem of their robes are literally sweeping the floor.

5) What those other ones (besides Mithrandir, Curunir and Radagast) were doing.

For the other istari... the best is to read the book, but till then:
from Unfinished Tales
"Who would go ? For they must be mighty, peers of Sauron, but must forgo might, and clothe themselves in flesh so as to treat on equality and win the trust of Elves and Men. But this would imperil them, dimming their wisdom and knowledge, and confusing them with fears, cares, and weariness coming from the flesh." But two only came forward: Curumo, who was chosen by Aulë, and Alatar, who was sent by Oromë. Then Manwë asked, where was Olórin ? And Olórin, who was clad in grey, and having just entered from a journey had seated himself at the edge of the council, asked what Manwë would have of him. Manwë replied that he wished Olórin to go as the third messenger to Middle-earth (and it is remarked in parentheses that "Olórin was a lover of the Eldar that remained," apparently to explain Manwë's choice). But Olórin declared that he was too weak for such a task, and that he feared Sauron. Then Manwë said that that was all the more reason why he should go, and that he commanded Olórin (illegible words follow that seems to contain word "third"). But at that Varda looked up and said: "Not as the third;" and Curumo remembered it.
The note ends with the statement that Curumo [Saruman] took Aiwendil [Radagast] because Yavanna begged him, and that Alatar took Pallando as a friend.

Posts... no I'm not getting there, when the posting robot is here lol

As for washing and stuff - Tolkien creates a living world, but washing clothes and other everyday necessities don't have to be widely discussed in order to make one.

hahah, yes this is the Humor forum, but thats alright, I hope.
no, I've not read UT, it's next on my list, however I got the idea there were more than three from
The Silmarillion, Of the Rings of Power and the Third Age
Chief among them [the istari] were those whom the elves call Mithrandir and Curunir, but men in the north nem Gndalf and Saruman. Of these Curunir was the eldest and came first, and after him came Mithrandir and Radagast, and OTHERS of the Istari who went into the east of Middle-Earth, and do not come into these tales.
no I don't want to talk about posts with YOU lol no I really don't want to talk about posts at all, I just like how it advances through the chapters.

no no no! he went to 'Staffs R Us' and bought a new, shiny white staff! He gets a discount there because he's a wizard.
