I figured since Ronin, IImare, & I had taken over the Blue thread talking about them. Maybe we needed a thread of our own. This way the Blue thread could get back to talking about Blue. And, we still have a place to talk about Korn.
So here it is People I hope you enjoy it....... :evilcool:

Ilmarė
November 25th,2002, 11:43 AM
 Yeah Adun... if you don't have a Korn cd.. "Untouchables" is the best one to start with as it has spawned successful singles already .."Here To Stay", "Thoughtless" and "Alone I Break".
 Ah Ronin...it took a li'l while... and me going on and on..(and on ..and on)..about what a great album it was... but i was so glad when u bought it.. finally;) lol I know u love it, hon... despite your protests!:naughty: ;) lol lol And you were right... "Follow The Leader" is probably one of the best albums ever.
B-G... "Freak on a Leash".... very, very cool vid ... absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Jonathan is wearing a kilt in it!:naughty: ;) lol
The vids for "Make Me Bad", "A.D.I.D.A.S." and "Got The Life" are brilliant too.

Ilmarė
November 27th,2002, 12:31 PM
Well.. Korn videos are always a little..different B-G. Freak on a Leash is getting a lot of play atm on the Kerrang Chnnel here i the UK.
Personally... i love the vids for "Here To Stay", "Make Me Bad" and " A.D.I.D.A.S.".... all of them very different ... disturbing.. but awesome.
Bonos-Girl
November 27th,2002, 01:23 PM

November 29th,2002, 04:18 PM
I'm pretty new to the Korn fold.Had bought "Untouchables"... loved it... had heard the singles... but not a lot else. When some friends and i were up at the Nickelback gig in August.. we saw the poster for the Korn gig... and just decided to go.
I was really looking for ward to seeing Puddle Of Mudd, who were supporting them, but the just stankpfbbt
I've been to a lot of gigs in my time... but Korn were just awesome ... they just got up there and played... so well... no chatting unneccessarily in between songs... just a full on salvo.
The best gig i've ever been to... can hardly wait to see them again!!notworthy notworthy
Oh.. yeah:blush: ... Jonathan in a leather kilt....:naughty: :naughty: :naughty: :naughty: :naughty: lol
Btw... you can see this year's tour.. its out on dvd now ... Korn.. live at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
Adun... so sorry you haven't seen anything in a while. This year i've seen Korn, Nickelback, Puddle of Mudd and Trust company. Next year... Chili Peppers:cool: ... and I'm being dragged along to ... Bon Jovi!!!!!!!

I almost got the chance to go to this free concert that Smashmouth threw. Over in San Jose, but plans fell through at the last minute.. Sucks too, cause I could of met the band and everything.... :(

That really sucks Adun!! Maybe you'll get another chance to go soon.
Adunauriel
December 1st,2002, 08:45 PM
Yep, maybe I will.... Just a bit if background on that story..... My brother is in a band, local nothing big, yet...... They played in this local Radio station birthday bash thing about 5, or so years ago. There they met the lead guitarist (Greg Camp) for Smashmouth, when he bought one of ther CDs and loved it... So he got them incontact with a manager.. Basically started really trying to hook them up... In addition he helped them get the chance to play this free concert, and they did as one of the opening acts.

 Excellent Adun!! I'm currently attempting to manage a local band... called the Corndollies. ... who have aspirations to have Korn appear in their first video:elfeek: lol .... not that i would complain about that, you understand... especially if Jon is in kilt mode :naughty: ;) lol lol

there are places that you can download the music videos, just do a search. I have almost every video that they have made on my computer so I can see all the boys whenever I want. I have to disagree that untouchables is the best cd to start with, start at the beginning with their first CD which is self titled, that is a really awesome CD
Adunauriel
December 2nd,2002, 06:30 AM
I'll have to check it out......;) Thanks, Scarlett Angel.......:)
Ilmarė
December 2nd,2002, 08:14 AM
The first album IS awesome.... I just thought "Untouchables" was perhaps a little more accessible to someone who hasn't yet bought a Korn album.
Which is your favourite Korn track, Scarlett Angel?
Scarlett Angel
December 3rd,2002, 06:24 AM
Well, my favorite Korn track...hmmmm.....well I really like Freak on a leash and ADIDAS, but.....Blind is such a great track. So Blind is at the top of my favorite Korn track list with Make me Bad(I like the music for it)following that.
I got to see them Live in October, they were great, a lot of energy. Another great band to see is Mudvayne and Flaw. But I got to go to Ozzfest this past summer and that was awesome, System of a Down can put on a show.
Ilmarė
December 3rd,2002, 02:02 PM
Absolutely agree. "Blind" is just about the best opener on a first album i've ever heard.... tho i love "Clown" too.
Gosh.. I just tried to do this myself and realised i couldn't pick just one track. I guess "Blind" from "Korn".. and "Daddy" but that's just so difficult to listen to.. so upsetting. Erm... "A.D.I.D.A.S" from "Life is Peachy"..... "Freak.." , "Got The Life" and "Pretty" from "Follow The Leader"........ "Falling Away From Me", "Trash" and "Make Me Bad" from "Issues".... "Here To Stay", "Blame""Beat It Upright" and "No One's There" from "Untouchables"
Phew... got there eventually!;) lol
Bonos-Girl
December 3rd,2002, 05:06 PM
i'm really bad at picking favourite tracks off albums too...i end up saying 'oh i really like this track...but hang on this is on that album too' etc!!!!
Ilmarė
December 4th,2002, 06:55 PM
I agree B-G... and of course, different songs mean different things at different points in our lives. Top Ten lists etc always change... but that's a good thing i think.

I looove Korn! It's been forever since I heard A.D.I.D.A.S. and I know a Korn song when I hear it though I couldn't tell you the name of most. Jonathan Davis is just messed up to be normal!! I think he's a brilliant, versatile artist. I had to have the QotD soundtrack when I found out he was a main part of it's production. Have you seen the Diary show MTV (or VH1 I forget) put out a couple years ago? It was splendid!! lol ;)
Bonos-Girl
December 10th,2002, 11:29 AM
Ilmare...i don't think you should choose the 'you laugh at me cos i'm different....' one cos its kinda overused!...i like the rest of them though
Ilmarė
December 10th,2002, 01:35 PM
Linte.... you were my friend already... but now... i think i love u!!!! I didn't know u were into Korn!!! OMG.... I'll be expecting you to pop in here all the time now!!
Yeah... Jonathan is a messed up puppy... but i admire him so much. To get up in front of the world and discuss the abuse he went thru... still lives with... and how it has affected him... so he can help kids out who feel and go through the same.. well, i respect the man more than i can ever say. Plus.....he's just sooooo hot!!!!! :naughty: lol
So... what are your favourite Korn tracks? Have u seen them? I haven't seen the MTV diaries but i do have the dvds they released... the live at Hammerstein gig is amazing!!!!
I bought the QotD soundtrack immediately it came out too... because of Jonathan's involvement... it is fantastic.
B-G... i kind of thought so too.... can't use most of Jonathan's quotes...which is a shamelol

December 15th,2002, 09:07 PM
I don't bite.... hard:naughty: lol
Here's a quote... by Jonathan of course... but maybe this is why some don't like them much.....
"We're vulgar and abscene, so what? Because we're that way, no one can censor us because of what we represent. No one has the right to do that..... America is too ****ing uptight"
Adunauriel
December 16th,2002, 05:39 AM
Americans can be pretty uptight, but I'm not one of them... I enjoy listening to Korn, and no one can stop me...:evilcool:
Lintefaniel
December 16th,2002, 08:41 AM
Yes, it is true, I do bite! But only when I am asked. Or if the urge is too strong! I know why most people don't like Korn, (or the reason I have heard most often), they simply don't give **** and that is really annoying to others. I personally don't care! I figure treat people how you want to be treated and if it's not reflected back, then it's out of your hands! I love Korn.....and nibbles...;)
Blind-Guard
December 16th,2002, 11:31 AM
Some people like this, some people like that. I like lots of different music styles. So I'm not like bound to one thing. It's from Dream Theater to Cradle to Korn. People who are like bound to one style are missing something in my view.

December 16th,2002, 01:00 PM
My god. I had no idea there was a korn thread on this forum. I am a huge Korn fan. I first heard 'Here to stay' on the radio and really liked it. Bought the album and liked it better. Went to see them on Pukkelpop 2002 and went totally frenzy. I downloaded all their albums to come to the conclusion that the previous are even better than untouchables. I love their first album and Issues. I love 'em because they know how to put real emotions into songs. Not the fake bull**** that you hear everyday. I like Clown, Blind, Faget, Dirty, Alone I break, Trash, Lowrider, twist, Daddy, Justin, and so many more I can't think of now. After listening to all their songs I must admitt that they went downhill since theier first albums. I mean really nowadays isn't what they used to be. They kinda lost their balls. What do you think.
Blind-Guard
December 16th,2002, 01:07 PM
I think your right. the are a bit, well softer in a way (sounds wierd I know). I like their old stuff better also. And I also love the first one. And Follow the leader is also very good.
Ilmarė
December 16th,2002, 08:09 PM
:whoohoo: Hey there Kev!! Welcome to our Korn Korner!!
I too am a HUGE Korn fan... tho, I.. like u... came to them pretty late. Saw them in September and was totally blown away by them.
I've already posted my favourite tracks ... so u can go back and check that out if you want. I have all their albums, dvd's.... and a couple of bootleg cd's of gigs from this tour. I also have a Jonathan doll... complete with Geiger mic stand!! Am i obsessed??? Dern right I am!!lol ;)
I agree with you. I love them because of the raw emotion.... the utter energy and feeling Jonathan puts into his singing because of his experiences... plus.. i love that downtuned 7 string guitar sound. Awesome.
I can't agree tho that they went down hill after the first album. I think that as a band they've matured... refined and redefined their sound. Lost their balls?? Nah.. even with "Untouchables".. which is probably their most musically accomplished album.... "Here To Stay", "Blame", "Beat It Upright"... they totally kick a**!!!!.... :flamer:
Keverzwijn
December 16th,2002, 09:27 PM
Don't get me wrong, I like Untouchables but it didn't contain any real emotions for me. Ok, I haven't seen all the lyrics and maybe they're hidden somewhere but still. I really liked 'Alone I break' on Untouchables cause it was different from their other songs, in that case they matured. Their choruses totally rule on that album. And by loosing their balls, I also mean that it isn't really about the music anymore, it's about money. When I saw them on Pukkelpop, the thing that blew me away was the roaring audience, the sheer atmosphere of the gig. Jon wasn't singing that great, I've seen him do better on liveacts. He's loosing it a bit but let's not let Korn down just yet ladies and gentlemen. I'll cut them some slack for what they have done and I still have respect for them.
P.S. yes, you're obsessed:grin:
Adunauriel
December 16th,2002, 09:33 PM
I hear them on the radio, and can alway tell a Korn song from any other band.. I can't relly tell a difference from there old stuff to there new, but I've got a good ear... I'm hopeing to get a cd of theirs soon, but have no money at the moment... When I've got the cash thou. I'll be sertain to pick one up. Probably go with Untouchables, as Ilmare has recommended it as a good starter album...;)
Blind-Guard
December 16th,2002, 11:01 PM
Youcan see that with Metallica to now. They've been harder. Not that many bands can stay the same, even if they want to.
Keverzwijn
December 16th,2002, 11:50 PM
I recommend Their first album, Korn, or Issues. Both are very good but it really doesn't matter where you start. I started with Untouchables too. There are other ways to get their CD's if you don't have enough money. It's not like they haven't earned enough.
Adunauriel
December 17th,2002, 02:00 AM
Yea, it happens.. Some bands that start out rockin' end up falling into the Comercialization Pit... It's a sad day when you realize your favorite band has done that...;)
Ilmarė
December 17th,2002, 08:23 AM
Thing is... i don't think Korn have fallen into commerciality and i don't think they ever will. Sure they're earning more... and are playing stadia now... but they're one of the only bands out there who are still true to their fans... going to court for them etc. They have evolved.... as all bands should... but they are still the fathers of the Nu Metal movement. Many have tried to copy them but have had only a fraction of the success.
As for albums... I'd say start with Untouchables... its as good a place to start as any... but would recommend Follow The Leader and Korn. You can download the albums... Korn themselves don't care if fans do it.. in fact they're totally into fans bootlegging gigs etc... even tho they miss out on royalties.
Blind-Guard
December 17th,2002, 10:30 AM
I don't think Korn is selling out or something. Untouchables is still heavy and dark and all... Their not in any way like Metallica who have been the hardest of all. I've been a fan of them from since their Balck Album but now I don't like 'm any more. I'll have to await their new album but..........
Lintefaniel
December 17th,2002, 11:38 AM
Right on for Die Hard Fans!! I have to say I completely agree with allll of you!! It's so easy for bands to sell out to commercialism of success and many of them do. Korn and Metallica are some I that I don't think have. I know that Metallica seems to be on shakey ground lately with Jason leaving and all, but I still think they hold true to their reason for starting a band in the first place. It's about making music! That is usually the reason most good bands happen. Because they have found the one outlet that helps them say all that there is inside of them to say. If you're just lucky enough to blast out of the garage and make it huge, the best thing you can do is maintain a cool head about why your there in the first place! And Korn, Metallica as well as many other groups, seem to still be in it for making music. My personal opinion is everyone goes through a dry spot artistically sometimes....;)
Keverzwijn
December 17th,2002, 04:55 PM
OK, I am not kidding you. When I saw Korn on Pukkelpop 2002 Jon was using an autoque(I don't know the exact English word, you know a bord with texts you have to say) cause he couldn't remember his lyrics. They only played their greatest hits so it wasn't that hard. Ofcourse I didn't see it with my own eyes but it has been confirmed by a few serious magazines.
Bonos-Girl
December 17th,2002, 06:10 PM

December 17th,2002, 07:21 PM
Just fot the record KoRn is still my favorite band. I do not hate them. They make great music. I just don't like what they have become.
Ilmarė
December 17th,2002, 07:42 PM
Jon used an autocue on this tour because they did a section from Metallica's "One".. plus they more or less went out on tour after finishing "Untouchables"... so he had the aurocue there for the newer songs... just incase he forgot them.
Nothing new in using autocues tho... Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins used one all the time:grin:

December 17th,2002, 08:19 PM
Rob Halford even admitted he's jusing one in his own band Halford, for every song. He's getting old! New trend on it's way? Hope not. So much with interaction with the audience! If it's like for just one song, well, fine. But not a whole show!
Ilmarė
December 17th,2002, 08:40 PM
I hope not Bilnd-Guard... certainly couldn't have gotten much more audience interraction at the Korn gig in Glasgow...short of us all invading the stagelol

December 17th,2002, 08:46 PM
I went to a Dream Theater concert on september 4th. And those guys don't interact, they almost are the audience. Mike Portnoy (drummer) kept trowing his sticks to us. I listened to the latest Korn album today. I'm liking it more and more.

December 20th,2002, 03:14 PM
I think so, the lyrics go something like this; "it was the night before christmas, everybody was high. I tripped over my ***...'
I can't remember all but it goes a bit like that.

Ilmarė

Read somewhere that Jonathan is into expanding his vocal range and singing instead of just shouting now... so i guess it will be more like "Untouchables".... but that's no bad thing... i LOVE that album:cool:
Adunauriel
January 9th,2003, 11:01 PM
I ordered it & 'Issues", so I'll have them both soon..

God, I hope it's more like their earlier albums. And why shouldn't Jon shout. He shouts nice.
Ilmarė

Of course he shouts nice... i like it... but he's not into it as much any more.
Adunauriel
January 10th,2003, 09:41 PM
It's the way it should be, their music should pregress & change along with the members of the band.... I think it's ok, if the new Cd is like 'Untouchables'. I wouldn't mind thou, if it was also like there older stuff....:)
Ilmarė
January 12th,2003, 05:56 PM

January 13th,2003, 08:21 PM
Well, the self titled first album is universally recognised as being unique... the first in the genre ... and really made Korn the daddy of all Nu Metal bands. Its an amazing album... very raw... brutal and uncompromising.
All the tracks are fantastic... especially "Daddy" but i've only listened to it twice.... i just can't take the sound of Jonathan crying... its heartbreaking.
Adunauriel
January 13th,2003, 11:00 PM

Man, he looks older. BTW, I really like 'one more time' on 'untouchables'. Now that's a chorus you just gotta sing along with. It rules.
Ilmarė
January 19th,2003, 11:22 PM
Hey... Jonathan looks ... lovely.. in a kind of strange way!lol One More Time... really sing along. Love it. I love Here To Stay.... it was very relevant in a period of my life... and i just can't get away from it.

I hope it's not the 'each cut closer to the vein' part that is relavant to you. Would you mind to talk about it?
Ilmarė
January 20th,2003, 09:45 PM
Ach.. no worries there Kev... no, its not that bit i took to heart... the chorus mainly. Was just a very dark time in my life and I found that that song got me thru.. i could relate to the lyrics... oh, and "Blame" too. I could get beyond my grief and just get so angry... could vent my frustrations and rage at the world thru the album... so i've got a lot to thank Korn for.

lol ... calm Kev... calm!!! We were getting all excited too because they were supposed to be one of the headliners at the Ozzfest at Donnington this year... but doesn't look that way nowmecry
Ach.. "Untouchables" wasn't a sell out. It's a fantastic album... a progression form the early stuff.
;)
Adunauriel
February 19th,2003, 11:57 PM

Ilmarė
February 20th,2003, 02:00 PM
I just think that Untouchables is as heavy and raw in places as Korn was. The production may be a bit more sophisticated but essentially... the songs in their raw state... just excellently crafted.
Oh .. and pfbbt verymad pfbbt .... Korn ARE headlining the Ozzfest in the States this year.. along with Disturbed... and i go back to work a week before i could have gone to the Charlotte datemecry mecry Never mind... if you go to it.. you'll have to put up with Cradle of Filth too... lol roflmao roflmao lol

Cd signed, Lars's drumstick, plectrum from Jaymz, wathmore can you wish for! lol . No, seriously now. A lot of people where at that signing session. If you go to a concert of Metallica (and I think Korn does this to) they will have a sort of signin session just before or just after the show. If you want a drumstick, plectrum or whatever, you just need to stand very near the stage, and you need to have your luck with you! Hope that was of any help so you can have a cd signed, a drumstick or whatever from Korn or Metallica. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

I used to me completely utterly and hopelessly obsessed with Korn! like 2 years ago i breathed ate and sweated Korn, it was verging on unhealthy lol ... John was my idol!! he could do no evil and he was hot (only in the early days though... like before follow the leader) i had everything korn, walls covered in posters, all their cds, a flag, stickers, shirts, a messenger bag 2 signed photos... i had everything. I don't know why but for some reason, i just stopped loving them... i still listen to their cd's once in a great while but i just don't feel the same... still a brilliant band though

Not really that obsessed... not with buying merchandise and stuff. I really admire Jon a lot.. because of what he's been thru.. and that he puts it out there in a public arena.. not hiding it away. He helps so many people by doing that... others who have been abused. I'm late to the Korn fold.. but absolutely adore 'em!

Probably a good thing, Blind!! Its much less expensive. The only thing i have which is bordering on the obsessional with Korn is a Jonathan doll... but i bought it because you got a replica Geiger Mic stand with it... so cool!!!

Did anyone see the MTV Icon programme on Metallica? I turned over just in the nick of time to see Korn playing "One" live. Man.. they were awesome... totally nailed it. Lars Ulrich was absolutely into it.

I didn't really like the new song... :(

September 3rd,2003, 01:18 PM
You can get help for that, Kev!:p ;) lol
Seriously, i didn't like it too much when i heard it the first few times... but it has grown on me. I think it sounds a little over produced, but then that's not so surprising seeing as it was written for a movie soundtrack.

Bweh, They'll loose a fan if they continue like this. There are enough other bands in the world.
Ilmarė
September 8th,2003, 05:48 PM
You're way too cynical, Kev!!;) lol Give them a chance. We haven't heard the album yet... plus.. music has to evolve... it would get sooo boring if they churned out the same old stuff over and over again.
Besides.. Jonathan Davis can't do a da*n thing wrong... but them i'm really really biased...LOLlol lol

AHHHHHHHHHH A KORN THREAD!!!!!!!!
KORN absolutely ROCK! They are the greatest metal band of the past two decades, I love 'em!
Fave album is IsSues, man that was cool, mainly cos it had Make me Bad on it, which totaly rules, that songs chorus has this sweeping quality that makes me just want to singalong.
Their new stuff is amazing too, btw you guys can download the new single here:

Ok.. just got "Take A Look In The Mirror" tonight and have only listened to it thru once... but on that first listen its obvious that the band have gone back to the same kind of sound as they produced on "Korn" and "Life Is Peachy". There are some immediately memorable songs, like "Counting On Me", "Everything I've Known" and "Alive"... and if you fast forward the last track to around 9.50 seconds.. you'll get the live Korn Version of Metallica's "One", which i happen to think is superior, as does my best mate, who's a rabid Metallica fan!

I've just seen ' right now', the new single, and I must say that I'm surprised. It's better than I thought it would be. Good for them!
