Legolas or Aragorn?

lol This all started in the WotR chat. (See what fun happens in there? Maybe some of you should come join us!) I was talking to Beleglotiel about TTT the game, and said Aragorn was the best character. She said no, and it went from there. So, we came up with an idea, to start a poll to see what you think. Of course, I voted for Aragorn who is *not* a beaf cake, but he could sweep a girl off her feet ;)

I chose Aragorn because of how loyal he is to everyone he knows. He also combines the fighting skills of Legolas and Gimli-- both strength and speed. Aragorn, as we all know, becomes the King of the World of men. Legolas? Becomes nothing but a legend that sailed west. :-P Aragorn's people will remember him until the end of days because of his accomplishments. Legolas? I don't think anyone will remember that elf. ;)

Now, I am not saying that I have this huge thing against Legolas, but I have to defend Aragorn, who I believe is better.

Moria, he pulls that arrow out of the corpse: "Goblins." No..they attacked each other...duh.

Council of Elrond: "That is Aragorn, Son of Arathorn. Isildur's heir.' Obvious.

At the Anduin: "Frodo and Sam have reached the other shore!" (we see Frodo and Sam running from the shore into the woods) "You don't mean to follow them, do you?" (we see Aragorn and Gimli just standing there) Self explainitory.

ok... let's see... the elf who is not an integral character in the book OR the movie, who *thank you, LA* points out only the obvious (oh yeah, and, all those lines were made by PJ...Tolkien didn't even give him many lines ;)), who is simply in the story to represent the race of elves who are leaving...whose only redeeming characteristic is that hes hot....

v the king of middle earth, the third human to unite the races of men and elves, the incredibly gifted ranger, the man descended from the ancient kings of Numenor, the best fighter ever (oh yeah, and Viggo's way hotter than Orli pfbbt)

mmm so hes a prince...so hes hot...he has nowhere near the majesty or power that Aragorn carries... or the hotness :drool:

I'm the Only vote for Neither. I really don't have any good reasons. I just think that neither one was better then the other. The both were great for many reasons. I don't think it's fair to put one above the other.....;) Yes I know most of you are probably think, "But I thought Legolas was your Fave?" He is, but this is asking who the better one is. I think all the members of the Fellowship were equals. None of them could have done it without the others......;)

Let's call it truce. I never said I didn't like Aragorn anyway. Aside from Legolas he comes in second as my favorite because he is the most 'kick butt' character. Besides, everyone has a right to his/her own opinion.

ok my view (as i have so often stated) Viggo is NOT as good looking as the gorgeous Orlando. HOWEVER, Aragorn IS just better than Legolas :grin: I go for dark looks, i like someone who looks a bit scruffy. Also i very much like Orli's build. I cant describe why-i have the same prob. with my bf. They have similar body shape and i really like it, but i cant describe why, although i can think it, it never comes out right. :blush: Anyway back to the point ARAGORN!!!!!!! So the best. I'm for both... they each have their good points and they're both important characters

Aragorn because he's the most important to the story line. He's Isildur's heir. And he's alway been my favorite in the book.

Legolas because he's just cool. He did do some things for the Fellowship. He fought orcs while Aragorn was helping Boromir. You're forgetting the arrows he shot into the cave troll in Moria or the arrows he shot at the orcs when they were on the stairs in Moria. And with the whole "He is Aragorn, son of Arathorn" thing... it wasn't that obvious to everyone... the elves there no doubt knew... but what about the dwarves or the other humans that were there?

Thats just my two cents. I love them both.

erm legolas didnt do anyhting in the books. he just was a faithful companion.... a supporting character, way out of the light... not really that cool! (IMHO)
those things Lynx mentioned... most are only in the movie... and they dont really make him worthy of anything more than a detail in the story. just one more character, who had his role, and played it well, yes, but it was a very small role. and, the whole aragorn son of thing... it really really wasnt necessary at all. not to say it to boromir, like that... maybe the secret council, it was ok, but overall, aragorn was trying to hide who he was...

that up against the king of men! lol...for me, no contest! book AND movie :grin:

anyway, thats jsut my opinion as well, im not attacking yours or anything :)

I do suffer from the decision of picking one over the other and I find that if I must it will be Aragorn. Okay, i've done this before.......................find a floppy disk and copy that file onto your floppy file then create an e-mail and attach the pic/background to the e-mail and send it to either an individual (ex. me or P/L) or if you want to, you can send it to www.theorlandobloomfiles.com and the girl who made that site will put your background on her site and we can all check it out and save it and put it on our comps. I have two backgrounds of my own on that site! so try that and see what you can do.................
