I'm not a big fantasy fan besides Tolkien... my favourite authors are probably these two.
I was wondering is there someone who likes them too? Or who wants to share oppinion on any book of one of them?

Michael Crichton is one of my favorite authors. My favorite books by him are: Jurassic Park, Timeline, Sphere, The Andromeda Strain, and Congo. I don't think I've ever heard of David Morell. What's he like?

'Timeline' is also very good. I like 'The 13th Warior'(it was filmed under this title, I'm not sure for the original)
Morrell, hmm he writes thrillers, it's a bit hard to describe it, you should try him,
he also has some scary short stories, which are so frightening real, even though some are pure fantasy (I hope - see what I mean)
This realism is in the thriller novels too, which makes them exceptional.

I think often times Crichton's books are better than the film adaptations of them to a great degree. They are a little more scientific and technical, which I enjoy. Like the movie Congo I absolutely hated, but I read the book and loved it; it wasn't cheesy, like the film was. And I loved all of the Jurrasic Park books, but really the only JP movie I liked was the first one.

Never heard of David Morell but I LOVE Michael Crichton.
Timeline is my personal favorite but I love the Jurassic PArk books and Andromeda Strain.
A priemere of the 13th Warrior is playing on the scifi channel sometime soon.

Awesome. Imrahil, you know a had to practically beat you over the head with Michael Crichton's books to read them. But then you were addicted. I knew you'd like them. Yes, Jurassic Park and Timeline are my favorites as well. Still, not as good as Tolkein's books. But they are pretty darn good.

Alien, I agree. His books are better than the movies. I must say, Jurassic Park the movie (The first one) was GREAT. Almost as good as the book. The second and third ones are stupid tho. Why would they keep going on the island? They need to give up on JP.

I have read a few of Chichton's books, pretty good, very meticulous. Morrel I am not sure if I have read any of them. The last book I read was Day of the Jackal, which I had been putting of for about 10 years, great read.....super detail.
