Cut chase scene?

In the extended version, it said that the scene where the orcs chase the fellowship into lorien was flimed but they chose to cut it. Does anyone know if we will ever see that?

I seriously doubt we will. Unless they come out with an ULTRA Special Edition after all 3 films are out. (that would be SOOO cool!)

I have a feeling they put everything they're going to put in in the extended DVD. The rest of the scenes probably messed up the dramatic effect of the movie (having a chace scene right after the mini-climax at Moria would seem a little akward, for example), or maybe they just weren't at the same level of quality as the rest of the movie, or after they filmed them they realized they didn't work at all on film even if the script read well. I guess I'm trying to say that scenes get cut for a number of reasons, and only some of those reasons would allow a scene to be restored on DVD.

Although actually, it might be cool to see it as a seperate deleted scene, but PJ said he didn't like doing that...

I think you can see a brief fraction of it on one of the older "making of" type docos. Maybe one on the original DVD? Not sure which. You see them in a wood, Legolas standing tall firing arrows (or atleast aiming to) in the direction the fellowship just came from. The hobbits run past on either side of him as though they are fleeing orcs. Actually Boromir is in it somewhere too because I remember thinking that has to be a scene in the fellowship we haven't seen because Boromir is there (maybe off camera in one shot), though my memory is a little hazy as to where he was standing.

It was one of those documentaries that you watch and go ~ "ooo I didn't see that bit, or that, and didn't see Liv wearing that pinkish coloured dress etc etc" and then you have to try and guess whether it was a bit cut from FOTR or one of the other movies :)

Hey Lady Ashley, maybe they'll bring out a LOTR miniseries! lol They've got enough footage hopefully still in a vault somewhere. A short drama series doesn't have to run to the pace of a film :grin: Imagine all those deleted scenes :drool:

When i bought my EE, i was really hoping they'll put that one in. I want to watch more of Legolas fighting scenes. I'm Quite dissapointed with PJ with this one mecry :(

Tis a sad thing, I guess I'll have to continuously watch the 10 seconds of that almost scene in the various trailers again and again and hold on to hope that it will come later...

i thought they didn't even film that part - just had it on story boards? :huh: maybe i'm thinking of something else....
