will this thread include spoilers? ive read the book and know what to expect in the film, but id rather not hear anymore about the storyline of the film, so would it be possible to keep this thread spoiler free? im all for peoples thoughts on the film and how they rate it to FOTR, but i dont what to know the extra bit in the film, and what happens to sauraman (cant spell :( ) cheers:)

AICN just posted what looks to be a real, honest to goodness review from someone that went to New Line's Press Screening! Considering the fiasco of HotDog's highly dubious review last week I would normally be pretty skeptical, but Torben, the reviewer, prodded on by AICN's geeky talkback squad laid on a ton of spoilers after his initial generally spoiler free review. (So dweebs have finally contributed something meaningful to society :jester: )
Review from Torben (http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com/display.cgi?id=13950)
I'm pretty convinced this one is the first genuine article, and the film sounds fantastic! :whoohoo:

OMG. I read the LO Spoiler review. TTT sounds fabulous, except for leaving out 6 or 7 chapters at the end from both books. Are they really going to cram all that into the beginning of ROTK?
It looks like we will never see Pippin look into the Palantir. There is no need for that scene to decoy Sauron's attention in the direction of Isengard, when his servant ringwraith clearly sees Frodo and the ring on their way to Gondor in TTT.
Darn, darn, darn. verymad
(Starting the rantings early. Sorry! pfbbt )

I'm trying to stay calm, open-minded and laid back. It's not working very well. Check out the FAQ on the LO review (there's a link on the front page of WORn). The reviewer says Faramir actually tries to wrestle the Ring from Frodo, and then Sam stops him by comparing him to Boromir!! This just feels like too much of a departure for me.
If I can just forget about the Faramir of the books, maybe I can enjoy the rest of the movie. The rest of it does sound very, very good.
There is a second review out now that says TTT is very violent, maybe even exceeds the PG13 rating--some kids aren't going to be too comfortable with it.
Find the review here--

In fact I think it could make the inclusion of a palantir scene even more essential, Miruvor, to further confound Sauron. If he has indeed seen the Ring, as will be reported to him, near to Gondor he might further suspect that it will be used against him being nearer to the main center of resistance against him and the grasp of Denethor, a man he knows would advocate its use. :king:
The Faramir they're introducing, more succeptible to the Ring's influence, in the film is more consistant with the theme they've established of the Ring's power affecting everyone, but hopefully this change won't prove too difficult to reconcile for those of us that have lived with the books for years. There other things I think they will play upon, but I have to see it develop for myself to make up my mind completely.
I don't think they've left themselves too much ground to cover for the third film considering the Scouring is not in. At the very least the reviews coming in are great reading! How I wish I was one of those lucky shmucks.
Oh, and yeah, this is definitely one you may not want to bring your kids to see - I don't know, sound like it could get pretty graphic. :Orc:

I just briefly skimmed this one. Looks like more of a review than a spoiler review. Which may be a good thing. It would be nice to hear some objectivity. :p

Question: Around this time last year most of the major entertainment publications were coming out with their FOTR reviews (Newsweek, TIME, CNN etc.). Is there something stopping that happening this year? An updated NDA or something?

I didn't sign NDA or anything at the press screeening on Monday night (hence my totally not anonymous review...) :)

Well, I have just come back from a exclusive screening of TTT.
And I have one thing to say: IT ROCKS! :woohoo: :woohoo:
B.T.W. the movie is quite "graphic" and violent, more scary and gory than the first one. BUT IT WORKS WELL!
